Fan Fic » Secret Santa Fic Exchange 2015 » January 11, 2016 11:04 am

thank you Schmeizi for all the hard work you put into this and thank you Solar for such a fun and entertaining emergency fic. I feel more sorry for Nakahara than myself! I hope my mystery writer is Ok and not too stressed out by life. I would love to read even an incomplete version of my story.

"And When All is Said and Done, Only the Tardis Can Hear You Weep"

I haven't had time to comment this year yet, but I aim to add my other comments when the fics are up on A03. What a fantastic group of fics this year!
Just wanted to say a massive thank you to my Christmas angel who wrote me an emergency fic. I absolutely adored this little crossover. It was so well written and I loved how it played with the reader, getting us to guess who and what was happening throughout. I am a very lucky girl !

Hello lovely people
It's been so long and I forgot it was this time of year already! Is it too late to join? I had such fun doing this the last couple of years and would love to participate again. I do understand stand if it is too late to join now though- happy to be a reader and commentator even if I can't participate!

Thank you so much Schmeizi for all the hard work of organising and to every one - It has been such fun this year and the stories/pics and reviews of such great quality!  I will miss it! Im looking forward to reading the larger works on a03 soon I hope!  I am going camping for a few days now, but will stick mine up there when I get back (depends on how the weather turns out)

I have to read a lot on my phone at the moment, which is so hard in this format with these big stories I have just about given up. Can't wait to read them on a03 though! So I'm voting for the big reveal sooner rather than later so I can read the last two properly, and also I'll admit I'm just really curious now!

Benedict's Non-Sherlock Work » Cabin pressure » December 26, 2014 7:09 am

I loved Martin imitating Douglas and the evil goofy jokes.  I think I am basically the only Australian who has listened to Cabin Pressure but I will miss it dearly.  I spent a very happy month listening to cabin pressure on my walk to work and getting weird looks as I burst into sponteneous lols.  Plus my children are now big yellow car game players.

Yes I agree with Schmeizi and Susi.  Im a native speaker but I still felt quite exposed and nervous about the guessing thing- It's scary enough having your story up there anyway if you are a bit like me and ultrasensitive about it!  I can see how it was tempting to do, and I know it wasn't meant to upset anyone, but I think is much safer for us all to be suprised at the end and keep our theories to ourself.

PLAY IT AGAIN, SHERLOCK
What a beautiful and romantic story.  I really loved how the author revealed the chemistry between the two characters by actually minimising the dialogue, but showing it in the actions of the two and the general atmosphere of the piece.  Lovely work.

In terms of the general discussion- I am a native English speaker which is lucky because there is absolutely no way I would be able to speak and write another language half as well as you guys!  i think all you non native speakers are unbelievable- I almost never notice it in reading posts and I certainly couldnt detect it in these stories which have all been so beautifully written.

All They Needed
Aw, how lovely was this story- I found myself wishing that it really would happen (Johnlockers have to be optimisists!) .  So beautifully written:  This was my favourite line:
And that was the main reason why John did not think that today was perfect. He was married to a woman he no longer loved, best friend of the man he loved instead, and had never found the guts to tell at least one of them the truth.
How perfect is that!
I just have one little Britpick- which is the word 'sweaters' which should be'jumpers'- but otherwise, a perfect, romantic and lovely tale which engaged me right through.  Well done!

Sorry- meant to comment earlier but had a hard time logging in on the weekend!
Something Precious- This story was so romantic.  I read it on a really bad day at work and it took me to another place- I love it when a fic can do that!
How Sherlock Holmes Met Greg Lestrade
What I loved about this one was the dialogue.  It's not very often you read a fic and you can actually hear how the actors would say the lines. Both Sherlock and Lestrade were completely in character- the use of humour was excellent and again, very true to the show.  I found this one totally believable and a gem to read. Excellent work!

GAURDIAN

What a clever and well written story!  Hard to believe it is the author's first fic.  I was so gripped and drawn into this story, I couldn't do anything else until I finished it.  One of the many things I really was impressed by was how strong Mycroft's voice was- i recognised it before he even revealed his name.  I also loved the microphone on Sherlock's coat!  Just absolutely adored this one! I agree with La Jolie- unknown author, please write more fics!!!

NOTHING IS GOING TO CHANGE?
Loved the characterisation of Sherlock in this one, and the use of drama to bring out the hidden feelings. Great read!

BUMP IN THE NIGHT
Dear KK
I can't explain how perfect your story was for me! I loved its originality and quirkiness and without knowing me you tapped into some of my other interests and passions- I love well written AU, teenlock and all things paranormal - in fact reading it through I started to think you must be psychic !
I just adored this story! it's not that often I read a fic and I think gee I think I would like to read a whole 100 000 words more of this one, but for yours I did.
Congratulations KK great work out of what I know was a demanding prompt xxx

Lost and Found

What a lovely, warm story, and beautifully written too. Great way to start Secret  Santa 2014,

TV Programmes » The Bridge » September 30, 2014 6:38 am

Just discovered the Danish-Swedish TV series- The Bridge. Fantastic show! I love the main female character- Saga- I think she is an interesting contrast to Sherlock (much more clearly Aspergers than Sherlock is, but they do have a lot in common) and the relationship between Saga/Martin is another interesting contrast to John/Sherlock.

Anyone seen it?

Fan Fic » Secret Santa Fic Exchange 2014 » September 19, 2014 10:26 am

Great idea!
I was wondering if we could also have a prompt to bring together all the stories- maybe a word we all include somewhere or a title we all give our take on-thought it might help as a starting point...What do you think?

I would definitely mention AU this time around, because I don't want to write any AU ever again.

That's why I was a little worried about signing up. I mean, my specifics would be

no AU
no crossovers
no slash
no porn
no pairings beyond canon

and that doesn't leave much, does it?

I totally agree with no porn, which is what we did last time, but I'm not sure about the rest.  No slash?  Does that mean no Johnlock?  I love writing/ reading Johnlock- I think Johnlock is a fascinating slash pairing and almost the whole point of Sherlock fanfic!  Also while I understand that AU is not everyone's cup of tea, but I was really hoping to use this Secret Santa to try my hand at it and stretch myself a bit.
I think we need to come up with an open ended prompt for everyone, but maybe have some method like last year when the receiver can detail their own fic preferences...
