I don't know if this is the right place to post, please feel free to adjust it to the right forum.
I'd like to open a thread on slip-ups as I've seen one in the first episode. I really like searching little mistakes in films and series and it's a good reason to watch Sherlock again and again and again and... (besides all the others)
In the laboratory, where Sherlock and John meet first, Sherlock tells John his name and address before he leaves the room. When Sherlock hastens away, the door is closing and you can see the reflection of the camera for a second in the door's window.
Anything else that caught your eyes?

Yes, I know it was a red herring, I just wonder if the letters UMQRA are an acronym (maybe something from the canon...), just a little insider joke by Moftiss (such as 1895)...?

I don't know if this has already been discussed elsewhere, but you think there's also a hidden clue for dontknowwhat with "UMQRA"?
It's been a while since I last watched "The Hounds" but I can't remember any sort of resolution (is this the correct word?) of these letters (apart from the fact that John mistook the light signals).

Thanks for the tip, but hostels aren't our thing. I think we are too old for that. O.K. I never was a hostel fan even with 15.
I agree, but when I was there, I only saw two other girls taking pictures of the house. But on the other hand, the biggest hype might be over (for now
). Anyway, don't miss it, I really enjoyed it!
Yeah, hostels can be...quite exhausting, a little hotel will definitely be more relaxing. I envy you! I want to go back! London is such a nice city... Hope you'll have a great trip!

I've been to London last week and of course I went to North Gower Street to have a cup of tea at Speedy's (which was not crowded at all) - it was so great and I was really excited to be so close to Sherlock
.
If you are looking for a nice place to stay during your trip - Sherlock's "apartment" in 187 North Gower Street is for rent!!
I was really surprised when I saw the advertisement on the apartment's window - for one second I had the imagination of me living there (I have to say, I'm from Vienna and was not really thinking of moving to London - until that)...
Now seriously, you said, you want to stay in a little B&B, but if you don't mind staying in a hostel either, I can really recommend "Astor Victoria". It's close to Victoria train and subway station and only a 15 minutes walk to Buckingham Palace. The rooms are small but clean, the staff was really friendly and helpful und breakfast was simple but fine anyway... (and it's close to Irene Adler's residence as well)

Although I rarely post in this forum and therefore wouldn't be missed so much I'd like post my abscence here:
I'm going on holidays until the end of July. I'm glad I have an iphone so at least I can follow the discussions (I hate writing on the iphone, the little letter-"buttons" are just too small for my fingers)...
I'm looking forward to coming back, until then - stay sherlocked

Franz Kafka is one of my favourite authors too (esp. "Die Verwandlung" - brilliant!).
I can also recommend Sartre ("La Nausée"/"Der Ekel"), John Irvings "The World According to Garp" or Jeffrey Eugenides ("Middlsex")!
What about Doyle, have you read some Sherlock Holmes stories yet?
