I am just saying that I don't think Dr. Strange is a role that will get an Oscar nomination.  I just found out Eddie Redmayne is in another role that has Oscar written all over it - he plays a transgender woman:
https://ph.news.yahoo.com/eddie-redmayne-gunning-second-oscar-061400134.html

you gotta admit - he looks pretty stunning!  These are the types of roles that generate serious Oscar talk.  Ben used to do roles like that early in his career - Steven Hawking, Vincent Van Gogh, etc.  I am not saying Ben should dress like a woman, I am just saying that aside from Turing, he has had mostly bit, supporting parts in major movies, and major parts in Trek and now Dr. Strange.

It's an interesting career progression..

First Sherlock, then Khan, and now Dr. Strange. It's like Zoe Saldana, who went from Avatar, to Star Trek, to Guardians of the Galaxy.

I guess Benedict is the actor to go to if you want someone to play a quirky, arrogant character.  I don't know if that is good or bad.

The other day I was watching a film review show, and the critics were discussing the Oscars, and one of them said that you sort of knew what you were going to get with Benedict Cumberbatch. Hs performances were great, but it was sort of always the same.  I don't agree with that, but I can see how doing certain type of roles again and again can typcast you.

Having said that, I am looking forward to seeing him in the role.

There will be no pictures from the wedding, because none were taken.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/celebritynews/11413221/Benedict-Cumberbatch-and-Sophie-Hunter-marry-on-Valentines-Day.html

Miss Hunter arrived at 3.20pm and was ushered into the church surrounded by security holding umbrellas, with her brown hair neatly tied up underneath her white veil. Then, 40 minutes later, three loud cheers erupted from the church as the ceremony drew to a close, and at 4.15pm the couple left in a classic Jaguar. The couple decided not to pose for pictures after the service, but went straight to the reception.

Fans had flocked to the island to catch a glimpse of the ceremony, but many were left disappointed. As the couple left the church in a classic grey Jaguar, security officers parked a large white van in the way of the crowd of spectators. This blocked the view of fans, many of whom had stood out in the rain for three hours in the hope of waving to the actor and his new wife.Angela Wenden, a National Trust caretaker for walked from her home in nearby Brighstone to watch, said: "We waited in the rain for three hours and it's disappointing."We all wanted to wish him the best. Perhaps they didn't come because it was raining."

"How romantic! Benedict Cumberbatch and Sophie Hunter are set to wed on Valentine's Day.

The couple will tie the knot in front of family and close friends Saturday in Britain, a source confirms to PEOPLE, before taking off for Los Angeles. British papers first broke the happy news.

Cumberbatch, 38, and Hunter, 36, announced their engagement in November in the U.K. Times. There's also a Cumberbaby on the way: the Sherlock and The Imitation Game actor and theater director are expecting their first child together later this year.

A newlywed Cumberbatch will appear on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Monday.

Because Eddie has won both the Golden Globe and the SAG Award as Best Actor, I think we can safely say he will win the Oscar too.  This just isn't Benedict's year.   For what it's worth, Eddie Redmayne is one of the best actor's England has ever produced - everything that I have seen him in has blown me away. He deserves this.  At the same time - I know the same can be said of Benedict.  It hurts that Eddie is winning for a role Ben also did.

HOWEVER - It has been an honor for Ben to be nominated.  That IS something.  And let's remember, Ben won an EMMY AWARD for Sherlock.  That is more impressive than a SAG honor.

In light of some of the unkind things I had to say about Sophie (and there was a spirited discussion which was very interesting), I do have something nice to say about her. I love her sense of style. It is very unique and totally hers.  But at the Golden Globes today she out  did herself, and even out shined Benedict - way to go Sophie!  BEST DRESS EVER.  I like her hair up too.  Much better than when it's down.

No, you are not alone!  I an 53 and it's not like I ever had a shot with him - LOL! I don't know why we feel this way, but we do.

It doesn't help that I am kind of disappointed in who he ended up with.  Sophie is not attractive ( yes, superficial and catty, I know),  and also kind of bumbed out that it's now obvious the reason they got engaged was because she is pregnant.  One is left to wonder is she was not pregnant, if they would even be engaged at all.

Ok, enough sour grapes.  What is done is done, and I hope it all works out for Ben.

I hope we get to see some pictures of them together now!  Out and about, you know.  There is no need to hide now.  I am so relieved he found someone, and not some limbo either.  What a guy!

There is news breaking on the web that Ben and Sophie Hunter are engaged.  This has been the most low-key romance ever.  They never appeared on the red carpet together,no vacation photos of the two of them, nothing.  I don't know how they did it.  I am impressed with Benedict. She is not a model or a great beauty.  Just a woman of substance.  I am happy for him.

I am in the minority here - I just don't like these type of glasses on him.  There are other frames he could wear that would suit him better.

Regarding leaked pictures from Richard III set - I had to see them for myself. It's kind of strange, but those photos of him goofing around, smoking, and joking, all in full costume in his armor - there was one shot where he was walking away in full armour with a plastic bag - just sort of takes away from the mistique of the movie, and probably what the producers where hoping to convey to the public to drum up interest in the film.  They also were very funny in a way, and sort of took all the glamour out of movie-making as well. No wonder Ben didn't want them out there on the internet.

I highly recommended "Benedict Cumberbatch: In Transition" by Lynnette Porter.  It's a performance biography.  For anyone interested in the actor's craft, and if you want an in depth look at some of Benedict's roles on stage and screen, this book is a must-have.  It also has some interesting info on his life that I had not read before.  Just an all around wonderful book!

Exactly my thought: Petition - can we please have the cheekbones back? The cheekbones are paramount.

This.  I don't think physical resemblance is that important, he'd sell us Bulger with no costume and make-up
I'm joking but I hope he can speak normally with those pads.

His hair looks so fair when he is outside...

This is what makes him a great actor - his ability to morph into the role so much that we hardly recognize him.  I find it fascinating.  I heard similar "complaints" when he became Asange.  Fans didn't like the way he looked.  Well, he can't look the same - meaning look like himself- in every part he plays.  He becomes the character.  The cheekbones will have to go this time.  BTW - I thought he was playing Willy Bulger, not his brother.  Don't tell me this is another bit part!

I could see Benedict playing this role. Dr. Strange fits in with characters like Sherlock and Khan, so Ben can easily get into this.  I'd love to see him do it.  But whether the studio would like him in the role, or see him as 'bankable' in the role is the question. At least it appears he is being considered.

In the other still it looks like they're arresting a murderer! It's almost too awful to think about what he was put through - I'm really going to struggle with this Movie, I think

Hi guys..... I'm still alive but only just!! So I have no photo, no audio or video of what happened, sadly.

But this is what happened.....

Ok so me and Bex and a lady from twitter called Chrissie were hanging around when Bex suddenly saw Benedict and Louise just walking through, no-one taking notice, no security. Ben waved and said hello to a little toddler running past and then someone asked for a photo and he said he couldn't stop.

They were with a guy called James Byng as well. They walked past us and towards the Tata tent rear entrance which is down a corridor...I stood at the end with my sketchbook in hand and couldn't move, just watching from afar. Then, suddenly they start walking back.

They're literally right in front of me and Bex is a way behind me. Just as they're about to pass (Benedict is chatting with loo at this point) I smile at James, James smiles back and I just thought, if I don't ask now I'm done for. So, I say: "Benedict would you look at my drawing?"

He looks back sort of saying he can't stop, but then he does a double take as he sees my drawing and his eyes widen and goes: "Wow" ..Then he looks at me right in the eyes and says "it's fantastic".

Then he says he has to go with an apologetic wave and i just crumble...

While I'm crying into Bex's arms, he then apparently turned again, looked at me and then looked at Chrissie and gave a thumbs up, she said she was convinced it was for me.

I'm still shaking, I'm still in dreamland. His eyes are so much paler in real life and they pierce through to your soul. He's also much more freckly in real life and his skin is flawless.

Should also mention I got a hug off Loo when she saw my drawing earlier in the day, and yesterday Bex and I met James Rhodes and had our picture taken with him!!!

All in all, 11 letters read by Benedict, meeting Benedict, Loo, James, and time with friends..... I'd say that was perfection!!!!

Such an amazing experience!  I am so happy for

Allow me to be a bit selfish here for  moment -  he could have filmed a  couple of episodes of Sherlock in the time it has taken him to globe trot the world over these past months.  I realize Moffit and Gattis don't have a script yet, and who knows what Martin is up to - but still.  When the scripts for Sherlock are finally ready, who's to say if Ben will be available? I realize he needs time off, but like others I am left to wonder when his next paying job is going to be.
On another note, I think Benedict will carve out a roll for himself as one of the great British actors like patrick Stewart, Daniel day Lewis, Alex Guinness and the like, rather than a Hollywood heavy weight like brad Pitt, Tom cruise, or will Smith.

The actual driving bit was good to watch, though

Benedict just seemed like a very different person in that interview. Not the worldly, sophisticated British actor with a dry sense of humour I've come to expect from seeing him interviewed time and again.  He acted more like a fun loving, easy going young man.  I imagine this is the persona fAns see at the conventions.  Or at the Oscars, where he was photo bombing everyone.  Ben does have this  cheeky side to him, which  I think may be more in line with his true personality.
