Yep, 100%....not sure whether I should be proud of that or not!

Oh, yes, to me it seems obvious that Sherlock "forgets" Lestrade's first name because he thinks it's hilarious.

Come to think of it, the meditation pose in that scene is a canon callback--one of the places Holmes went to after Reichenbach was Tibet, and it's probably the only place he'd have learned lotus position in the Victorian era!

And of course there is Mycroft's weight:

Mycroft Holmes was a much larger and stouter man than Sherlock. His body was absolutely corpulent, but his face, though massive, had preserved something of the sharpness of expression which was so remarkable in that of his brother. His eyes, which were of a peculiarly light, watery gray, seemed to always retain that far-away, introspective look which I had only observed in Sherlock’s when he was exerting his full powers.

“I am glad to meet you, sir,” said he, putting out a broad, fat hand like the flipper of a seal. “I hear of Sherlock everywhere since you became his chronicler. By the way, Sherlock, I expected to see you round last week, to consult me over that Manor House case. I thought you might be a little out of your depth.”

(Didn't Mycroft in the show also say something about expecting to Sherlock to consult with him over a case?)

And then there is the young pageboy--Watson speaks of Billy the page in several stories.

I think it's Sherlock feeling that John doesn't properly appreciate Mary's abilities.

*giggle* But yeah, this. Agreed.

He trusts Lestrade to always help him. But then we knew that: Lestrade is the only person who reacted to his return with open delight (and a hug!), and Sherlock didn't miss that--he suggested him to John as a best man, even.

OTOH, I'm sure it would never occur to Mycroft that Sherlock would not denounce his shooter because it was someone he liked--"caring is not an advantage." He would be more likely to think Sherlock was holding back information if it were someone that Sherlock wanted the satisfaction of catching himself.

Mycroft wouldn't have to do more than a standard check to come up with everything about John, no effort required--the military keeps highly invasive records. The only thing he did extra was tell a minion to get hold of the psychologist's records, and that is explained by the fact that someone seeing a counselor was moving in with his brother--let's make sure it's the obvious and not something dangerous. He'd have no reason to do more than an equally cursory check on Mary--she wasn't moving in to Baker Street.

To 221B, as fast as his legs carried him.
But  - in order not to disturb the tea party -  he was stopped by Gatiss and Thompson.

Well put!

On the one hand, we don't know that Sherlock didn't start poking around after coming up with "liar" at first examination of Mary. Alternately, a regular background check might well have come up clean, but Sherlock bypassed all green lights, having seen Mary in full assassin mode.

Sherlock--having, you know, actually been shot by Mary--had a better reason than Mycroft to dig into Mary's background. It's not as though she wouldn't have the training in how to put together a reasonably sturdy fake background.

This, exactly.

That's why they have previews, so they can make changes before opening night. (And that is why it's not cricket to review before opening night.) (And why it really isn't right to charge full price for tickets to previews, but of course if they can get it, they do. )

Mycroft has whole file on John (as we saw in TEH), so it´s very unlikely that he overlooked Mary who was directly connected, even intimate with John - Mycroft´s subject of observation.

But even if he by chance overlooked her before Sherlock was shot, I somehow doubt the same thing can be said after Sherlock was shot. Mycroft would move heaven and earth to uncover the identity of a dastardly shooter, IMHO.

Mycroft doesn't know as much as he thinks he does--he thinks Irene is dead, remember. He even knows--he said outright--that Sherlock can bamboozle him, he just thinks that in Irene's case he wouldn't want to. I'm sure he thinks the same about whoever shot Sherlock--but it seems clear that Sherlock does not in the least want Mycroft involved.

the same thing happens when people stage door at Broadway theatres, so there's not much you can do.

Most of the Broadway theaters, though, are amid other theaters, offices, and hotels--there aren't a whole lot of apartments right there (although there are some, for the theaters a bit farther west).

In general, a good production of a Shakespeare play is SO MUCH BETTER than reading it...so why do they teach Shakespeare in high schools by having students read the things?

It's all etickets nowadays...so I still have them. And there is nothing about recording on the part that looks like a ticket, but at the bottom of the page is this:

NO REFUNDS OR EXCHANGES - THE USE OF CAMERAS, RECORDING DEVICES, CELL PHONES, BEEPERS, AND OTHER ELECTRONIC DEVICES DURING THE PERFORMANCE IS PROHIBITED. LATECOMERS WILL BE SEATED AT THE DISCRETION OF MANAGEMENT.

I only noticed it at the end of the intermission--the rest of the time they must have stayed on it, because they had had to speak firmly to the teens right in front of us and I definitely would have noticed if the screens had come back on, but I didn't notice the ushers more than once or twice, being engrossed in the show. So they must have the technique down to an art.

Right before the show started there was a warning that no recording was allowed and to please turn off your phones (which reminded me to turn off my--non-smart, non-recording--phone). There's been enough coverage of Broadway actors throwing fits from the stage that most New Yorkers, at least, know that theaters are taking a strong line against it.
