Christmas is ForGiving

For those who were curious, the prompt I gave for this fic was, 'The truth clings to him like a disease. He doesn't love you, he doesn't love you, he doesn't love you.'

Dear author,

I asked for angst, and wham, did I get angst! I appreciate the solid fracturing of John's poor sanity you gave to the story, coupled with blow after blow after blow. Through your beautiful writing, you displayed the inherently broken nature of an emotionally compromised, unreliable narrator, being crushed under the weight of the repercussions of his mistakes. I can taste the tears from here... and aren't they plenty and few in between?

The story represents a side of Mary that I associate with the 'st' dropped from Mary's maiden false name, if you know what I mean... Which, intentional or not, fits nicely into that little extra thing I suggested in the prompt, when I asked that you pick between MorMor and Johnlock, and I must say, I'm extremely satisfied with the result. The ruthless, sociopathic nature of an assassin, described, not with direct words, but in her dialogue, her actions, and the very nature of herself... I'm breathless with delight

No wonder the poor doctor snapped. I can feel the fear radiating from Sherlock's very name, less in the physical consequences of staying away and more in the thought of abandonment and hatred from the man he loves so much. Forgiveness is so hard to earn in its entirety, and you, fabulous author, left the ending in that sweet realm of not-quite-happy, not-quite-unhappy, with hope for their broken selves and the healing that will come glimmering on the horizon.

Thank you. It's beautiful.

I am sorry about not being able to comment. I confess that I've been swamped with exams and schoolwork for a while, every single week... If anyone's familiar with the IB diploma program, you know what I'm talking about I'll be able to read and comment over break, and I wouldn't dare not leave a comment on the fic written for me. That would have been heartbreaking to me; I can't imagine doing it to someone else.

Winter break starts on Saturday. After I catch my breath from Star Wars (hehe), I'd be happy to contribute to the collective missing prompts via fanart or another fic.

If memory serves me correctly, Schmiezi will post the names of the authors at the end of the exchange on the Fic thread.

I'm hesitant to comment, since omitting any story would potentially reveal which one was mine XD. I'll post individual comments when the exchange is over, but I would like to applaud everyone whose stories have been posted so far. I also am very glad to see how many of them have, at the very least, Johnlock undertones Your writing is superb this year! I blame the swiftly approaching break in the hiatus for our sudden influx of creativity, and I smell the Victorian!lock! I'm so glad to have been a part of this, and I can't wait to let you know what I thought about each of your stories. They're all so fantastic–especially considering the time commitment that went into sharing every carefully chosen word. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Have any of you listened to the recently released Macbeth's soundtrack? (Sadly, the nearest place playing the movie is 4 hours away ) What a powerful score.

In Tumblr issues (to which everything should be taken with a grain of salt): I do know that people were upset about the unhappy ending of every homosexual in the show. But my question to that is: which of the heterosexual couples had happy endings? Aside from Danny's roommates of unidentified sexuality and the unnamed people walking down the street, who in the show left the series unrattled, at the very least? Because even the government agencies were shaken enough to

lock one of their spies in a trunk and leave him to suffocate because of his dangerous research.

*Wailing in agony* That's one of the most horrible ways to get rid of someone: False hope and using a lie detector (ironically, I agree, and a brutal touch) against him, my god. And the pain when Alex said, 'His name is Danny'... Someone stab me.

I still don't know what's going on, but I think I have a better grasp on it than I had last episode. I like that they left some things up to interpretation and closed everything else up the way it needed to be finished. It was certainly not the ending I was expecting.

Perhaps the bullet wound itself was not so serious, but bleeding out in the middle of the desert, in addition to the panicked attempt to staunch the bleeding by (I assume) Murray would have potentially brought all sorts of infections into the open wound. In which case, the bullet wound itself wouldn't have damaged him too badly, but to have been invalided home afterwards implies that it was infected and he got very sick as a result, requiring medical treatment elsewhere or leaving him in a state of exhaustion so much that he could not continue to fight.
ACD's Watson caught typhoid fever in the hospital, which was the reason for his resulting weakened state and, thereafter, his discharge. Perhaps John's wound was so gravely infected that he had to be discharged, or he caught something in the base hospital as well.

I think I'm going to be in tears if Alex is really dead, and in tears if Alex is really alive. This show is an emotional roller coaster, nonsensical plot aside.

I do wonder if Scottie himself is involved with Alex's death (or 'death'), given the amount of information he knows about Danny.

For people interested in the rest of the Marvel Cinematic Universe:
Originally, the part of Jessica's best friend was supposed to be for the character Carol Danvers, who you may or may not know as Captain Marvel. But, after a few years had passed from planning to execution and Danvers was slated to get her own movie, they decided to give it to Trish Walker (who is known as Patsy Walker, aka Hellcat, in the comics).

Yay, trivia!

I'd like to interject with a side note of gushing about how much I love the intro sequence. Ugh. It's so pretty, and the music, and the title card!

Carry on.

Fan Fic » Fic recommendations - non-Johnlock explicit/slash (other parings) » December 2, 2015 5:44 am

If I could add, there's a pair that I find to be rare as the main relationship of a fic that truly deserves more creativity: MorMor. But there's a particularly gorgeous fic by the name of These Violent Delights about the currently non-canon Sebastian Moran and his incredibly unhealthy relationship Jim Moriarty, written, curiously enough, in 2nd person (It is written as if you, the reader, are Sebastian himself.) If you're not afraid of a multitude of trigger warnings, then I would suggest this to be the best MorMor (or MoraMori, if you prefer) fic out there.

The author, pasiphile, has written a multitude of other MorMor fics that are absolutely fantastic, if you'd like to expand.

These Violent Delights, by pasiphile
Chapters: 13/13
Rating: Explicit
Archive Warning: Graphic Depictions of Violence
Relationships: Sebastian Moran/Jim Moriarty, Sebastian Moran/various male and female OC's, Irene Adler/Sebastian Moran
Characters: Sebastian Moran, Jim Moriarty, Irene Adler (and a multitude of minor OCs)
Additional Tags: Explicit Language, BDSM, d/s dynamics, Graphic Violence, more specific warnings for each chapter in the notes, Explicit Sexual Content, UST, Dubious Consent, Dubious Ethics, Implied/Referenced Torture, Mental Health Issues, Class Issues, Unhealthy Relationships

Sebastian Moran is a rebel without a cause (literally - pro patria mori is a pile of shite). Jim Moriarty is an evil genius in need of a right hand (not literally - he’s already got one of those in the freezer). It's a relationship meant to be.

AKA The Life And Times of Sebastian Moran, Bastard Extraordinaire. Oh, thank you, everyone. Reading all of the fics throughout the month have been lovely, and I'm so happy to have spent my first Sherlockian Christmas with you all.

My Head's Underwater, But I'm Breathing Fine
This is far more than I could have hoped for in a gift. I haven't had the time to finish reading it yeat, but it is so perfectly what I asked for and beyond, and I'm only on the fourth chapter! Thank you, thank you, thank you, Silver. I'll be coming back to give my full review and thank you when I finish!

Here's what I'm going to do, I have to do some last minute formatting for the latter part of the story I'm going to post so it looks alright. I was going to wait until I was done and post all of it at once, but I'll post most of the story now...since I doubt anyone will be done reading it before I'm done with the rest.
I'll just be a few minutes

That's really nice of you. Thank you!

Series Four Suggestions & Ideas » Baby Watson (spoilers!) » December 19, 2014 2:01 pm

Honestly, based on ACD canon and Gatiss's hints, along with both Ben and Martin being emotional in the readthrough, I'm 95% sure Mary's going to either die in childbirth or right before, and that'll be the tragedy of the series. My theory is the person who may or may not be Moriarty will target her in the same way Magnussen did, only to get to Sherlock rather than Mycroft. Either that or Mary will become injured defending Sherlock, maybe, to redeem herself, or defending John, because she clearly loves him.

But that's just me.
