I am really pissed off right now. I just wanted to pre-order the dvd which will be released in September, but then I realised that most of the features will only be available on the US version. And of course I can't watch that because I have a European player. Great.

I think you should be able to watch on Project Free TV and then stream it (not necessarily download). Pop ups will occur (just x them). I have the best luck with 'sockshare' as a streaming site for Project Free TV. Not all the links on Project Free will work, but that's how I watched all of American Horror Story and In the Flesh

(In the Flesh is a GREAT miniseries about how suicide impacts a family, and uses 'zombies' and 'partially deceased syndrome' to play out what would happen to a teenager who came back and had to live with the reality of how his family had coped after his death. It's intense and one of my favourite miniseries ever! Definitely check out).

I love so much about Hannibal. I don't like all the gore, but I think Mads Mikkelsen and Hugh Dancy are awesome actors and the tension in Lecter's cat and mouse game with Will is intense!

I won't go into detail but these are my favorite shows (they get the Drama stamp of approval for awesomeness) that I've seen from start to finish so I can recommend them. There's all sorts of stuff here, so if you like the genre, there's a good chance you'll like the show. Since you don't like sci-fi I took most from that genre away (except The X-Files which is my favorite show of all time).

Arrested Development, The (comedy)
Carnivale (mystery, sci-fi)
Day Break (detective, mystery)
Entourage (drama)
Extras (comedy)
Fawlty Towers (comedy)
Flight of the Condhords (comedy, music)
Frasier (comedy, drama)
Freaks & Geeks (drama)
Friends (comedy)
John Doe (mystery)
Lost (mystery, drama)
My Name Is Earl (comedy)
Office, The (awesomeness)
Oz (prison, drama)
Seinfeld (comedy)
Shield, The (copshow, drama)
Sopranos (drama, mafia)
Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip (drama)
Twin Peaks (mystery, awesomeness)
Wire, The (copshow, drama)
X-Files, The (scifi, awesomeness)

plus some shows I'm still in the middle of...

The Big Bang Theory (comedy)
Breaking Bad (drama)
Californication (comedy, drama)
Cracker (detective, drama)
CSI (detective, drama)
Curb Your Enthusiasm (comedy)
Dexter (drama, mystery)
How I Met Your Mother (comedy)
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia (comedy)
Modern Family (comedy)
The West Wing (drama, political)

^ woah. That's awesome.

This one is older, and a sitcom - but I also loved Frasier, even when I was little. I loved Niles Crane. His frou-frou nature and OCD.

I thought I'd already seen a thread on Downton Abbey, but I cannot seem to find it despite my best efforts.

Anyway, I was wondering who here is watching this show--this is yet another that my friends are not familiar with. Maybe I need to host a TV night to get everyone caught up with my favorite non--American shows. I am excited that I've found a way to watch it here in the states now rather than waiting until January or whenever it's supposed to come out here. It's probably in my top 3 favorite shows, Sherlock being number one, of course.

I've just finished the premiere of season three. Anyone else caught up? What did you think?

I've only seen season 1 and 2 and I watched them all together in a clump over the holidays last year. I feel like I should watch them again...

I love British shows like Red Dwarf, The IT Crowd, Spy (2011), The Office, Bruiser and Blackadder. And I've already watched all the sketches on youtube with Rowan Atkinson. A new school year is here and I desperately need another British show. Help me, please!

I enjoy Being Human (UK version of course). Don't take it too seriously - just have fun with it. It's wacky. I also don't mind certain episodes of Skins.

When I was little, I used to watch reruns of Fawlty Towers. If you like school related dramas (think a UK version of Boston Public) - maybe check out Waterloo Road? I haven't seen too much of that one, though.

I want to watch Luther, Wallander, Game of Thrones and Merlin. Haven't seen any of those yet.

In Canada they call it ADD-H now. I remember a couple years (many, actually) they changed it from ADHD to ADD-H. I'm pretty sure they are the same thing Just like I think in England (not positive, need to double check) they don't refer to ASPD as ASPD - but something slightly different.

Okay. Good to double check.

Well, since I have already posted another place in the forum I suppose I had better introduce myself.
I only registered on this forum last weekend and had some initial difficulties. May I here add a great thank you to our admin for very prompt service in addressing it. Usually I lurk for longer than this before making my first post, but an issue in the Scandal in Belgravia thread was too delightful to not address.

So who am I?
A woman in my thirties who has had an abiding love for Holmes and Watson since I read "The Hound of the Baskerville's" at age 7 and who spends far too much time on this fandom, tends to read books on strange subjects, has a memory for details that is by most described as freakish and who's only knowledge of sports is the off-side rule in football (soccer).
Not to mention a sense of humour that is often odd and nerdy, as my pseud here may indicate, and I am a complete canon geek where Holmes is concerned.

Welcome! You sound very cool! Hope to see you around!

Hello! I am Song from Australia!

I found this place through a link on tumblr and decided to join!

I have been a fan of Sherlock Holmes for quite awhile. Originally just the books, until I saw my first screen Holmes (unless you count Basil of Baker Street), RDJ. I was hooked and not long after, discovered BBC Sherlock which I fell in love with.

Saddened that there was a hiatus I found a blog which reviewed in detail, almost every Sherlock story and screen adaptation. Curious I discovered other adaptations and fell in love with them as well. Such as The Russian Sherlock Holmes, Jeremy Brett's, Basil Rathbone's, various one off movie versions, and american one from the 50's, Elementary and so on.

I love him and Watson in all their forms!

Since watching Sherlock, and of course other fandoms, and being on tumblr. I have begun to contribute to the fandom! I'm a graphic designer so I've created many graphics and tshirt designs, which are for sale on redbubble. I make prints and necklaces for the Sherlock fandom on etsy and storenvy. (haven't sold any there ). I'm trying to get my stuff onto Society6.

I also write fanfiction. Unfortunatly I can't seem to write short fics. Unless you count drabbles. To date I have 10 fics. 4 ongoing. One, a post reichenbach, is at least...130+ chapters? Another has just had it's 40th chapter, its a zombie!lock/warm bodies fanfic. The third only has 6 chapters and the 4th is my drabbles fic.

I'm also an aspiring artist, (I drew my avatar for LetsDrawSherlock) I'm getting better but still have a long way to go. If you would like me to share anything to let me know!

Thank you for listening and (hopefully lol) welcoming me.

My mum always tells me that she thinks I'd love Austin. So it sounds like you live in a very cool place!

My sister lives in Vancouver, and we were born in Victoria. I miss the forest and the mountains, myself. There are not many hills in Winnipeg, and I like to hike. There are river walk paths. Tons of rivers and forests - just no ocean or mountains. It has it's own...white-out, ice-village charm. Good for the holidays ;)

Oh no, come on, you're not awful! It's all fine! And it'sprobably just me, but for me the third season of Enterprise is the best season of Star Trek ever. But I guess I'm pretty much alone with that opinion.

There are so many shows out there I'd be really interested in, but I just don't seem to have enough time. For example Hannibal, you mentioned that one. So I suppose you would recommend it, right?

I like aspects of Hannibal. Not the gore. I like the psychological back and forth between Will and Hannibal. It's rather gorey for a person like me who doesn't like gore! But the psychological tension is really intense I watch it for that!

I can understand those homophobic accusations to a certain extent, but not because of how it's dealt with in the show. It's more because of what Moffat occasionally says in interviews. There was one (or was it a press conference or was it at Comic Con? Don't remember...) just quite recently where you got the impression that he finds the idea absolutely absurd that Sherlock and John could eventually end up together in the show. Which is fine with me, I ship them, but I don't need to see them together in the series, it's fine the way it is.
I was just wondering why he reacts to the idea in such a "that's total nonsense and will never happen"-fashion. Would he react like that if we talked about, let's say, Molly and Sherlock? I really got the impression that the idea of two guys getting together is almost unthinkable to him.
But maybe I'm totally on the wrong track here. And like I said: I'm absolutely fine with the way in which they portray it on the show.

And it was already said: There still is Mark Gatiss, isn't there?

Moffat can seem almost snarky in certain interviews with fans. Even if he didn't mean anything by it, he probably has a different direction he wants to take the show and doesn't want fans dreaming for a reality he'll never create? Maybe?

Mark Gatiss is MUCH warmer, friendlier with fans. Steven Moffat doesn't always seem to like talking to everyone. Mark Gatiss seems to realize that most fans...are going to be a little intense, a little obsessed even, and have their own ships and heck - as creators - that's flattering. It means they love your show ;)

Just a difference in personality. I don't think Steven Moffat actually was perturbed by the idea of someone thinking of two male characters as being 'shipped' as being outrageous. More that he doesn't want that in this instance, and he wants the fans to keep up with him. I get a note of impatience from him, so

It's very typically comorbid with ASD and I think BBC Sherlock has both. Like everyone
He is not defined by these diagnoses but it does help us understand his thinking and behaviour

''Bored!'' (shoots the wall and sprays a smiley over everything to complete the look) ''Bored!''

I heard a friend mutter something about him being a petulant little brat, once. Done affectionately. Still, ADHD (or is it ADD-H these days? Or was it ADD-H before and now ADHD now? And why do they have to keep changing it?) - anyway, ADD-H/ADHD or not - if I did what he did, regardless of a diagnosis, I would have been given away to the goblin king...and that's as a child. ;)

But seriously, I think not everyone must eat often to function normally and feel well.. It seems Sherlock is one of them.
I just recalled how in one of the books, when Sherlock accounces that he has to go out, Mrs Hudson asks him what time he wants to have a supper, and Sherlock answers something like (if I rememebr rightly) "Friday, at 7.30pm", while Friday was going to be in not until a few days (I might have paraphrased a bit, but I think general sense has been kept). xD

This amuses me. The fact that he'll skip meals for several days but then be so insistent about 7:30 pm. Yes, 7:30. Not 7 and not 8 ;)

I'm not at all certain how he does that without a brain numbing headache. I'm bad about eating enough, and I'll call an energy drink and a power bar breakfast and lunch. Sometimes, I may skip dinner as well.

Mind over master goes only so far.

And I've done the not eating for 2-3 says in a row. It messes up your GI track somethingsomething awful.

I agree. I am the worst at eating regularly. I don't have normal hunger or thirst, so I have to set an alarm (especially now with hypoglycemia - goody!)

But have we seen Sherlock go much more than 24 hours without food? I actually think the pilot hinted that he might fast for several days - but if he slowly eases back into normal eating, who knows? It also depends where he gets his calories from...if it's largely shakes and drinks and soft foods like soup, it wouldn't be as shocking for him.
