So if I didn’t understand I was being asked to be the best man, it is because I never expected to be anybody’s best friend, and certainly not the best friend of the bravest and kindest and wisest human being I have ever had the good fortune of knowing.

That is one of the most beautiful and heartbreaking lines I have ever heard. Perfectly written by Moffat and perfectly delivered by Ben.

They are available (separately) on both iTunes US and iTunes UK

The "Meet the Makers" featurettes are available as stand alone videos on iTunes US (free) and on iTunes UK Series 3. If you go to the Deluxe Edition, they are marked as "series only"

I think that the for someone like Sherlock who puts reason and science above everything the only logical option is being an atheist (or at least an agnostic). Conan Doyle couldn't make his Sherlock Holmes one because in his time it would have been rejected by the masses.

I have the UK Bluray edition for series 1, 2 and 3 (the 3 is actually in its way to Chile). So I would like to know if any of these extras available in the US iTunes Store is not included in the mentioned UK edition (sorry, not clear from previous posts):

From series 2:

From series 3:

* Unlocking Sherlock

* Sherlock Uncovered: The Women

* Sherlock Uncovered: The Return

Thanks in advance for your help!

I think the fact that being close to really lose Sherlock this time made Mycroft realise how important his little brother is for him. The way he says "it would break my heart" is quite cold for anybody else's standard but for Mycroft's is the equivalent to hugging and crying. Maybe the Xmas spirit got into him too.

I especially love the fact that even when Sherlock is drunk, he still is a show-off.
Sherlock: "I have an international reputation. Do you have an international reputation?"
John: "No, I don't have an international reputation."
Sherlock: "No."

And then of course: "Aaahhh, Hudders."

"I know ash!"
 Loved that part!

In The Sign of Four Watson falls for Mary but he is afraid that if they find the treasure she will be out of his reach because she will become rich and he is "just a doctor". But the treasure is lost so Watson goes and propose to Mary. In HLV the USB stick is "lost" (burned) so they can move on and reconcile.

Me too! I love the show and I love Benedict and Sherlock is such a great character but I used to hear "punch me in the face" regarding to him. And now... now I want to hug him and my heart breaks to think about how much he loves John and how far he is willing to go for him

Hello! I pretty much agree with you. Sherlock forgave Mary quite easily because he understands her and probably thinks he would have done the same in her situation.
I don't see Sherlock and Mary as the same. Sherlock is on higher intelectual level although Mary has other skills that make up for it.
John IS the most normal of them all... which should be scary if it wasn't so fun (for us)

I think @hiatus (what a perfect username!) is right about Mycroft "using" Magnussen's information sometimes for his (the goverment's) own purposes.

So if Mary is the cool assasin and fulfilling johns need for both normal family life AND adrenaline, where does sherlock fit in?

That's my biggest issue with her, too. I like her and I liked her plot , I have never seen something like that before on tv!, but I just see no future with her anymore. She's too much like Sherlock.  But I think we have to trust Moftiss that they'll deal with it in an interesting way. It's a challenge, but it can be absolutely stunning. Imagine how great the payoff will be, if they build up such a problem and solve it somehow.

(Just a half-disconnected thought, but I wonder, if tumblr will  melt, if Mary dies in childbirth and John and Sherlock raise a child practically together......... I'm sure the hiatus will produce tons of fanfiction like that.)

I don't think she is interested in runing around solving cases with John and Sherlock. She gave up that life years ago (five at least) and the only reason why she came back in action is because Magnussen theatened her. But she understands John's and Sherlock's need for adrenaline and she won't complain or try to stop John from working with Sherlock. She might even help once in a while. So I don't have problems with her staying around. What really worries me is the baby. John would probably think twice about risking his life if there is a baby. So the baby has to go  I feel like a psycopath saying this but the baby really needs to go.

I'm listening to the Empire podcast and Mofftiss said that Mary entered through a window (TBB style) because she is a highly trianed agent.

And, as we all know, Mofftiss never lie about Sherlock

So, since we know that they do lie about it we revert to the real world.

Skyscrapers are sealed;  there are a myriad reasons for this, including cutting down on the number of people jumping out of them and landing on some poor person wandering along wondering what to buy for supper.

But mostly the windows are sealed because the massively expensive air conditioning/ heating doesn't work if someone opens one, so the architects and builders make sure that there are no windows which can actually open.

So we are back to Janine letting her in...

That is completely true... in the REAL world but it make no sense in the story. Mary was counting in killing Magnussen but she didn't kill Janine or the security guy. If Sherlock hasn't arrived she would have killed him and there would have been a witness who knew her by name (and knew where she lives) who would have told the police that she was there. It makes absolutely no sense.

I think that’s what he/the writers meant.

As in, after you left and hurt me, I looked for someone who wasn’t like you [to not risk being hurt again].
As in, John ultimately saw Sherlock as a life partner. In whichever way that could be.

Awwwwwww! Yes. I think you are right.
