Thanks, Davina, very nice!
And yes, he does look a lot like Martin (except maybe a bit taller)...

It's a very nice picture, Susi... and he does look good in purple... and the fit is perfect, the sleeves rolled up, neck unbuttoned, showing just enough...

I stumbled on this ( i think I did once before; pre-mod days) and thought people may be interested in it.
I am simply because (oh no, this is a scary confession now) I have never seen Martin in anything except Sherlock.
Please do not lynch me or anything, I am a poor little Aussie who has never had the opportunity to see him I guess.
I shall endeavour to rectify this & report back when I do.
Anyway, enjoy the site and forget about my short comings huh?
kazza, I'm unable to connect to this link. Is it one of those that only works in UK?

Okay, not sure I have the hang of the canon thing yet so I don't know if this will count, but here goes...
Early in chapter 2 of "A Study in Scarlet", Watson writes ...be it remembered how objectless was my life and how little there was to engage my attention. ...and I had no friends who would call upon me and break the monotony of my daily existence.
In "The Reichenbach Fall", at the grave yard, John says, I was so alone.Yes, you have 'the hang of the canon thing".
Thanks, kazza! Off to see what else I can find as I'm reading!

I think I'm missing something here...not sure I understand the reference. Help?
Billy is Sherlock's "page." Who knew they still used that term in ACD's time? Anyway, he helps Sherlock after Watson has moved on and doesn't see Sherlock so much any more. At least, that's how I remember it.
Ahh, makes sense now...thanks veecee!

I noticed that when I first saw it, but mainly because I am not particulary fond of feet or toes (except for babies' toes), not even Ben's. I would not appreciate someone putting his bare feet where I was going to put my head. Now, don't all get mad at me for not loving Ben's toes.
lol... not a problem veecee, not everyone is a foot (or toe) person

Sorry, couldn't help myself lol... and I only found the toes while actually looking for something else, but the toes made me forget what I was looking for...

Yes, isn't it strange the things you notice. I seem to remember thinking that he fidgets with his toes, I can't think of exactly where, perhaps in SiB when he is wearing 'nowt but sheet'.
Hmmm... I'll have to check on that one, too; I think maybe now I will go back through all the episodes and see what other instances of toe wiggling I can find, though there probably won't be many...

Was watching The Great Game again today, and even after seeing this episode 20+ times now, today was the first time I noticed the way he wiggles his toes in the arm of the couch as he stretches out full length on his back, just after he says the line "the wall had it coming". Made me giggle and gave me the warm fuzzies...

Does anyone know if there is a link anywhere to the sheet music for the other Sherlock theme, the slower one that is played during the opening credits? I would really love to have that one.

So you live in a college town, too? I hope you enjoy that as much as I do.
It has its ups and downs. Charleston is small so there isn't a lot here to entertain the students and they do a lot of partying when they get bored. But for the most part it's not all bad. The majority of the students are generally well-behaved.

I'm American, but I hate most US tv programming. I love BBC...if it weren't for BBC America I'd have nothing to watch on tv. US tv programming is terrible. We can't seem to do anything original anymore, the few good shows produced every now and then get booted after a few months, and we can't seem to do a good literary or period piece. And don't get me started on our attempts to copy British programming -- I loved the UK versions of The Office and Coupling but hated the US versions. I could go on and on, but I'll stop here...

A funny and interesting article by Richard Glover in The Sydney Morning Herald.
His youngest son, just returned from University and has been avidly watching BBC Sherlock episodes back-to-back. To his father's astonishment he announces, despite always being a reluctant reader, 'I've just downloaded a couple of Arthur Conan Doyle stories,' he says. 'They're really good you know. Great storyteller.'

Good article.
I've always loved books and reading. I grew up watching Basil Rathbone Sherlock movies but never really had a desire to read the ACD books...until I started watching the current Sherlock series. Now I'm reading A Study in Scarlet and can't wait to get my hands on the rest of his stories.

I'm glad you liked the tulips. Please come to Ann Arbor during Summer Festival and Top of the Park or during the Art Fair(s). It is wonderful.
Anyway, I love Chicago and big cities in general.
Do you want to say what city you are from in Illinois? I don't mean to be pushy. Just so glad to find someone else from the Midwest on here. I think we have someone in Ohio, too.
I'm from a "small" town called Charleston (pop. about 24,000), home of Eastern Illinois University (where I retired from). Charleston is about 45 minutes south of Urbana-Champaign, Illinois, where the University of Illinois is located.
