Although I very much enjoy the new Sherlock series, the one character I think I prefer from the original stories is Irene Adler.  The American Adventuress (I think Americans are kind of fascinating), she is a mental equal to Sherlock Holmes, but she is so polite about it.  And then she goes off with her husband whom she is totally in love with, and she doesn't bother the King, and even promises not to expose him to the public.  Now that's classy!  I've always admired her character for that.  I can see why Sherlock Holmes calls her THE woman.
I've really enjoyed posting on this fan site, but I think I may be taking a Hiatus.  You never know, I may return, it's been Great.

In the constellation Alpha Canis Majoris.

I'm really tired, and I have a big day at work tomorrow, so this may not be a complete answer (sometimes it takes a little time).  But on the page where Sherlock and John were playing poker with M'n'Ms, there is a Yahoo Answer question, with comments including which constellation is which.  So seriously, that would be Sirius, the Dog Star.

I just got back from work, and here I am, Sherlocking again!
I was thinking, you know how SH sometimes has to prove how clever he is?  I imagine Young Sherlock Holmes in particular could tell the difference between a heiroglyph and a heiratic, probably even before it's been written down.  Elementary!
And SH's eyes are so keen that he could spot clues on the head of a jackalantern in the middle of a valley.  Lol!  So let's be fair--oh, he's amazing.  If the clues are there, he will find them.
Sherlock is such a brilliant show, but surely they didn't put all the clues in, else we would've seen the answer by now.  That is, unless someone figured it out and were just nice enough not to plaster it all over the internet and spoil it for everyone else.  Come to think of it, that wouldn't be much fun for anyone, would it?
I had my feelings hurt a bit earlier today, but I'll probably get over it.  Goodness knows, John had his feelings hurt worse by Sherlock!

I'm hugely late to get back to work, but I don't want anyone getting the wrong idea because of a delay in reply.  I'm not sure I even totally understand the situation, other than sometimes when someone works really hard on a project for 3 months they want to show someone, and it's frustrating when they can't show it to just anybody, because it might hurt somebody else.  John would never want to hurt Sherlock, or Mycroft.

Personally, I think an Irish Scot would fit the bill!

Of course.  I sea it now.
Alas, I am no actress, just a doctor.  But I like how the original Sherlock Holmes was based, in part, on a famous Scottish medical school lecturer (ring any Bells?).  Sometimes I even have to be a detective at work, read between the lines, that kind of thing.

I myself am pretty new to online chatting, and looking back, I think my advice was not the best.  I chose this site to start with, because I think the world of Mr. Moffat and Mr. Gatiss, and I absolutely love Sherlocking!  They have made it such a joy!  They are so incredibly creative and imaginative and deliver their shows in such a brilliant way!  Problem is, even Sherlocking can get to be too much, if it makes us stay up too late, interferes with sleep, etc.  I don't really have anyone to talk to about it here, so I was just looking for a place to play where somebody actually knew what I was talking about.

I hadn't read the fan forum all weekend, I am sorry to hear about the trouble sleeping.  I am truly a real doctor (I don't just play one on TV).  I can't give any official advice over the internet, but all the "sleep hygiene" suggestions sound pretty good.  Also, as a doctor, I am very good at confidentiality.  I think what folks have said about stress is right.  It reminds me a bit of something from the Blind Banker.  When Sherlock's friend from the bank mentions "my boss," it's like he just had lunch with him or something.  But, with the recent death in the company, the boss was probably so stressed that he was just trying to keep a low profile.  So, try to relax.  Cheers!

I believe it starts for them on PBS in early May, and the DVDs would most likely be available for them shortly after that.  You're a kid--you know what it's like to want to peek at your Christmas present, even if it's just a corner of the package!  And especially if it were made by someone as super awesome as Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss!  Even more so if you loved your last year's Christmas present made by the same people.  In fact, I think there was a reference to that concept in the Doctor Who Christmas special this year, which I recently purchased and watched on DVD.

Well, I guess we should feel sorry for those poor folks in America!  If they want to join in the fun, all they have are 30-second Youtube clips to go sleuthing with.  Lol!  I bet they can't wait to buy their DVDs either.  I think May or June?

I agree, the last episode is most heartbreaking.  I shed seven tears when I watched the Reichenbach Falls episode.  I think I'll go back and watch it again.  Maybe it will be different the 2nd time!

I would like to address the poem of which you speak.  It's called "221B" by Vincent Starett, one of the first and most famous Sherlockians.  You can google it if you would like to read the poem.  One can learn worlds of information by googling.

Thing is, the clues are everywhere.  It's like walking through the forest, you can't spit without hitting a tree.
