I still don't understand how Euros managed to put Moriarty's face on EVERY SCREEN IN THE COUNTRY. Like, really? You won't explain that at all? No secret radio hacking? No network tower takeover? How the hell did she do it?

"Did you know his brother is a station manager? I think he's jealous".

Station, in this case, might not be a railway station as it was mentioned in the books but rather a television station or radio station. Jimmy that up a little and it could well be access to the emergency broadcast system which would override all other signals.

Just conjecture but Mofftiss do like to play on meanings with their stories.

If it is the end I've had a thoroughly good time getting here

I hope that we get one or two more stories off them as specials in the future but the legend is well known again and the way they've left it fan fiction and adaptations could still be spun to keep it alive as it is.

I'm glad Mycroft didn't die, I thought that was a prediction made by Sherlock which might come true this time around.

I think Moriarty probably did the videos in his own time and passed them along to her via his and her networks. She said he did many and so there's probably other videos for situations and outcomes unknown as Euros was just reaching out to Moriarty to let him know she'll be having fun with Sherlock after he's finished with him.

It's a shame we don't get to hear how it was all set up and agreed upon but some things are best left to the imagination.

Nice imagery in this scene. I would loved to have heard their 300 second conversation though.

Then there is the "Clue" that Moriarty gives about Janus Cars in The Great Game. I've always wondered why Moriarty would push the point home of the company's name, it's clearly obvious to anyone with a basic understanding of Ancient Roman mythology that Janus is the two faced god of beginnings and endings. Why would helping Sherlock with that be of importance?

As I've stated many years ago I think this clue is about something else altogether. Now we have Euros/Eures we could have the "It's never twins" twin of Sherlock giving us two faces, a beginning and an end, the concept of past and future, time, transitions and gateways matched by hallucinations, the Hawksmoor hint and the entirety of I.O.U.

Throw in Redbeard and away we go (Perhaps).

Good to start getting things possibly being resolved finally, or at least temporarily in my head resolved, for now.

Just to make sure the original story is understood here the "East Wind" is an allusion to the outbreak of the First World War taking place in Germany around the time that His Last Bow was published and that story is written in the third person with Watson and Holmes softly interrogating a spy from Germany prior to drugging him and having him arrested.

Not the best of stories but it is the last of them.

Happy New Year Susi,

There have been some odd elements present throughout Sherlock which may come together into some sort of fantasy/fictional/delusional motif at some point the most recent of which was seen at the hacker's house as a graphic overlay.

The book Hawksmoor is about two stories set around 300 years apart which influence and mirror each other in realtime within both periods. It could be that a grander version of time, than that which is commonly believed to occur in a linear fashion, is being explored in the construction of the final problem.

It's all speculation at this point but don't forget Kitty's wall and other things we've seen through the series

The "Murder Castle" and various torture rooms with incinerators downstairs to destroy the bodies was a real situation which happened in Illinois, Chicago. Check out the wiki link for more details on the situation, gruesome stuff. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/H._H._Holmes

I'm surprised the BBC used this as an inspirational backdrop alongside their Jimmy Savile parallels. Series 1's Jim'll fix it line was darkly funny because the truth hadn't come out yet about their former employee and his odd, illegal behaviour but on series 4 they've put centre stage.

Great episode, if based on many truly dark happenings.

Oddly Rosamund still being a baby means we are looking at events unfolding in retrospect. Possible between 1 and a half years to two and a half years ago.

With Sherlock's mystery sibling detailing that they heard about the truth serum confessions 3 years prior (Which I'm going to take as correct based on the note's clues integrities) whilst posing as Culverton Smith's daughter that takes those events back to around 2012 - When Moriarty died and Sherlock faked his own death.

I'll get onto this properly once this series has ended but it might be they've matched up the times to coincide with the events they've depicted.

Firstly why does Sherlock now have an iPhone - they are rubbish!

Secondly, he'd needed to have hacked his phone to transfer that ringtone from his old Android and converted it to the M4A format which isn't too easy (I've written an article on how to do so, but it takes time, effort and knowledge).

It didn't make sense for Moriarty to keep mementos for almost 20 years on the off-chance he might meet Sherlock Holmes and have some fun in his boring life.

Now, a sibling looking to cause trouble within the gifted family might very well do so to taunt and tease Sherlock via a Moriarty proxy which is much more probable and makes from a better story arc from start to finish.

Mrs Hudson referring to Mycroft as a reptile also brings a Moriarty ring to the Holmes' family, maybe Mrs Holmes also wrote a book about the dynamics of an asteroid?

We've now had it explained in the context of the show the years when certain things occur. I've only used images with the date watermark by the show as some things were shown out of order (Parliament blowing up - not only didn't happen but would have not happened sooner than it does chronologically ).

John and Sherlock meet and begin their adventures.

The height of their time together, followed at some point by Sherlock's 'death'.

Sherlock has returned from dismantling Moriarty's global network.

Going by the time frame of John's wedding we'll have to have had 3 years worth of Sherlock's sleuthing if series 4 is to be in sync with the audience watching it. If not, we'll be looking in retrospect at the events being depicted.

The original YouTube video from the OP, which is now gone, was entitled "=0.9166emStephen Thompson (Sherlock writer) Interview on Radio 2 18 Jan 2011" uploaded by user romangirl88 (Channel now deleted). I'm sure we can find a copy of it if we must.

Happy New Year everyone, let's hope 2016 is a great success for each of you!

It is an interesting and fun read for anyone who enjoys the written stories of Sherlock Holmes and enjoys reflecting upon what makes those stories so interesting and appealing.

I can't say much more without giving away too much, but I would say it is a worthy entrant to the non-ACD titles which are accepted by the community.

It seems there might be some overlap/crossposting with "The Special - the game is on [spoilers]" thread.

Credit to where it is due, I started a new thread because apparently kebab shop scenes are fair game for thread titles and I didn't want things to get muddled up within a thread with spoilers (Plus it didn't show up in a search).

Here's the appaent message prior to it being played at 'Comic-Con':

I wonder if they are filming at Dickens World in Kent or within the Museum of London at the celebration of Sherlock exhibit.

However it goes, I'm game!

Hi STD! (Erm...)

It sounds like some form of ideaesthesia that you have. Associating sensory inputs with memories and experiences is common with the varying types there are. Usually only one or two sensory inputs establish associative memories but it sounds like you have more.

For people who don't have your abilities creating a virtual space in which to place memories usually requires them to have fantastical objects or situations which they can recall easily due to their absurdity. The 'mind palace' is simply a way of retaining specific memories through a practised technique. I think your ideaesthesia allows you to do some of this without much effort.

Personally I can't do mind maps. I find the idea ludicrous, my brain just isn't built for external visual aids. We are all different in our brain morphologies though and we each will find a way which will work for us. Yours seems uncommonly unique though, it sounds like you appreciate it too
