That's too bad; I enjoyed his tweets.

This discussion reminded me of a skit from Catherine Tate:
She's freaking hilarious. Have you seen her in the skit with David Tennant (she's a student, he's an English teacher)? My coworker and I also LOVE her character, Derek, but mainly because we thing (s)he looks and acts like a supervisor we both really disliked. I didn't care for her as a companion on Doctor Who, but otherwise I like her very much.

How is "Ginger kids - Help find a cure" not offensive?
It's like saying "all brown-eyed people are liars" or "all blondes are stupid".
I don't doubt you meant it as a joke and didn't want to offend. However, I've known quite a lot of kids who suffered/are suffering a lot because of remarks like that one. Every joke gets a lot less funny when you are at the receiving end. Even in an adult setting.
I assume you're a redhead? Idk...I'm a redhead and I thought that picture was hilarious. I've been called much, much worse by stupid kids when I was back in school. That, and because I know so many people who pay for the color, redhead insults don't even phase me and can even be pretty darn funny. I also figure that, if someone dislikes me because of hair color, then they have quite a problem.

She is always getting complements for her hair colouring although when she was little she was a bit freaked out by Chinese people, in Canada, touching her hair when we were in a lift (elevator).
I can remember people commenting on mine from way back. The movie Annie had just come out when I was around 4 or 5 so people were always coming up to my mom, saying I looked just like Little Orphan Annie. I used to hate my hair, now I like it but I wish it were less curly. People still randomly touch it wish I don't particularly like. In my early 20s I'd also have random people come up and touch my face--they don't do that at all anymore. Guess my fine pale complexion has been overcome with age and the stress of working third shift.

I have to admit it reminds me a little bit too much of Moriarty though!
Nice! I like it. Where did you get it?

Sorry, but I'm jumping back to the original question of this thread, 'Why did Moriarty kill himself'. Here's my own brief opinion just for the fun of putting it out there - and I don't really care if someone has posted the same thought because there's room for all of us to express ourselves
.
Insane, Sherlock-obsessed Moriarty killed himself because Sherlock was the only thing left in life that distracted him and kept him from deadly boredom. Discrediting Sherlock and making him kill himself actually means the End Game for both of them. Once Sherlock dies - Moriarty has no amusement left and nothing left in his life to acheive. I'm thinking he was planning his death too all along - that's why he was carrying the gun he never uses anywhere else. When Sherlock tried a checkmate move, Moriarty made his last and final move, killing himself knowing Sherlock would be forced to follow. In his mind the same End Game would be acheived either way and the final problem would be solved. Of course, for my opinion to have credence, you have to believe that Moriarty was completely and utterly insane beyond comprehension - not just an ingenious criminal mastermind.
Agreed.
One question: I've read comments/discussion all over the place about the whole Moriarty is Richard Brook/Moriarty hired Richard Brook who played Moriarty. *whew* Anyway...thoughts?

Thanks!
The trip itself (airfare, hotel) isn't too bad. But that's what I'm worried about: our poor dollar isn't so strong over there (or anywhere) anymore and I don't want to pay what amounts to $15 USD for a pint. At least, a friend of mine told me she paid around that in London. Whatever though; you only live once. I don't need (or particularly want) 5-star luxury. As for beer, guess we'll just have to buy it from the store and bring it back to the hotel.

Yesterday, I was musing about how I'm turning *%$# years old (a big number which ends in 5) next year and would like to do something big to celebrate. So a friend of mine and I got this crazy idea to go on a week long trip next spring, and we thought we might like to go to Dublin. Our initial thought was Dublin for St. Patrick's Day (I know, so cliche and American), but I think I want to talk him out of that as I think there are better times of the year to visit Ireland. For one, I've heard that March is quite cold and gloomy there. And St. Pat's Day is not a reason to go, in my opinion. I'd like to go in early to mid-May, but we'll just have to see what we can agree on.
I'm also thinking of proposing we go to Glasgow instead (I'd like to see where my "people" came from) but again, we'll have to see what we can agree on. I'd love to fly into London, but the vacation packages are around $600 more expensive for London than either of the cities I've mentioned previously. That trip will happen, but maybe not for another few years.
I don't know if there are any Irish or Scottish users on here, but if you can give me any advice, feedback, opinions, whatever, I'm definitely interested! Thank you.

Man, those shoes are something else.
My (ex)boyfriend and I watched the first Twilight simply because we were bored and it was on On Demand (basically, our cable company's list of free movies/shows that they're showing for subscribers). I couldn't take it seriously. Of course, I'm a huge True Blood fan; those are some REAL vampires.

This photo has been a hit with the fangirls on Tumblr for sure. I'm not at all a Twilight fan (I thought it was silly) so...I really like this...

Well, I guess I could offer a little something because I've had the pleasure of meeting Andrew Scott and Mark Gatiss. I must say that Andrew is such a sweet guy and more like Richard Brook or Jim from IT than the evil psychopathic Moriarty. Although it could be just a front of course. We all know Moriarty is a great actor!
A) I'm incredibly jealous about this!
B) Have you ever seen My Life in Film? A totally different side of Andrew Scott. Acting-wise, of course.

And one more thing: I'm pretty new to the fandom; I watched both series 1 and 2 this summer. Speaking only for myself, I imagine that most of the things I ask are going to be thought of as "standard" to people who have been around, but they are still very interesting to me. As I cannot read everything on this site (sorry, but I just don't have that kind of time), I'm bound to say or ask something which has already been covered. I apologize if it wastes time, but really...are we doing anything incredibly productive here in the first place?
I join forums because I want a place where I feel like I'm free to talk about all of the things of which I am a fan. In real life, there are precious few people who have even seen the same shows or read the same books I have. I mean, I'm thought of as a geek because I like Sherlock, Doctor Who, Battlestar Galactica, Torchwood, etc. My point is, if I have to worry about possibly posting something which someone else will feel is a waste of time, what the heck is the point of being here?
