The Great Game » How did Smiley Face get on Wall? » February 16, 2012 11:35 pm |
At the beginning of the episode Sherlock fires at the smiley face on the wall...how did it get there?
I think I know how...but I wanted to see if anyone else had picked up on it...
The Reichenbach Fall » Funniest Moment in The Reichenbach Fall » February 16, 2012 11:33 pm |
For me the funniest moment in this episode actually comes right at the end...and it made me laugh out loud...
When John and Mrs Hudson are standing at Sherlock's grave...John says he's really angry, and Mrs Hudson says "me too" then launches into this big tirade about how messy Sherlock was and how he was always leaving things lying around and she goes on and on, and John says "ok I'm not THAT angry". I just found that really funny...
The Reichenbach Fall » Why do people find this episode so emotional/hard to watch? » February 16, 2012 11:31 pm |
Did anyone go into this episode NOT knowing that he wasn't going to die?
I mean...I didn't get upset when Sherlock jumped off the building because I knew that it was all a fake...I knew before I'd started watching the episode that he was going to fake his own death, purely because I knew the storyline from the original books.
It didn't make me upset to watch it, I was just totally glued to the screen throughout cause it was really nailbiting stuff, especially when Moriarty pretends to be Richard Brook, that part was amazing... and at the end when he jumped I just thought "how the hell did he do that?"
For me I guess the emotional part was that I really felt sorry for John...
Reichenbach Theories » Sherlock & Moriarty Tea Scene » February 16, 2012 11:27 pm |
Watched this episode again today and I really think the tea scene contains a lot of interesting stuff...
1. Moriarty talks about the Final Problem several times (which was of course the title of the original story), and he tells Sherlock he's already told him what it was but did he listen...what does he mean by that? And what is the final problem - Sherlock himself, and how to get rid of him?
2. Is it coincidence that when he talks about a "fall" he mimics falling from a great height and smashing on the floor (like what happened)...is he talking about a metaphorical fall or is he planning a literal fall - does he already know that a tall building will be involved??
3. What is it about I.O.U.? I know what it means of course (I Owe You) and I know that people use the letters IOU but does it have any special significance within this episode...Moriarty really put emphasis on the words at the end - was he trying to give a clue to something?
Reichenbach Theories » What theories do you think fail? » February 16, 2012 11:12 pm |
Yeah, and it's obvious that it's a "live" body falling and not a dead one.
The Reichenbach Fall » a little tongue-in-cheek observation: BACH! » February 16, 2012 11:11 pm |
Could it be the clue we all missed? Nah, probably not...but fun none the less.

A Scandal In Belgravia » What is it with Sherlock and Irene? » February 16, 2012 11:08 pm |
Right - but he's not attracted TO her, just interested in her and interested in how love/emotions work...
A Study In Pink » Mistakes - anyone notice any? » February 16, 2012 11:05 pm |
Jeez, I'll have to watch again more carefully - I'm obviously seeing but not observing, lol.
A Study In Pink » Why no protective clothing? » February 16, 2012 11:02 pm |
Yeah, I think it works that he doesn't wear protective clothing - it fits in with Anderson's comment about him messing up the crime scene. He's too arrogant to wear protective clothing of course.
The Blind Banker » Was Moriarty involved? » February 16, 2012 11:00 pm |
At the end when the main woman gets assasinated, she's talking to someone on the computer who signs their name "M" at the end of each sentence...are we to assume this is M for Moriarty? If so, he really does get about doesn't he?
Character Analysis » D'you think Sherlock has ever had a girlfriend? » February 16, 2012 10:57 pm |
And come to think of it - there's that scene in Belgravia when they're talking about Irene being a dominatrix and Mycroft tells Sherlock not to be alarmed, and he says "sex doesn't alarm me" and Mycroft says "how would you know" or something like that...and Sherlock looks a bit put out...indicating that he probably hasn't had any relationships before.
General Sherlock Discussion » Things we will never know but are curious about » February 16, 2012 10:54 pm |
In the court scene in Reichenbach... the judge asks Sherlock if he can go for one minute without showing off (or something along those lines), and he takes a breath and opens his mouth as if to speak - then it instantly cuts to him getting thrown in a jail cell - I've always wondered what it was he went onto say then, and what it was that got him into trouble...an analysis of the judge himself perhaps, with maybe something embarrassing like exposing an affair he was having or something??
General Sherlock Discussion » When do you see Sherlock eat? » February 16, 2012 10:51 pm |
Aaah yes, I remember that now.
John on the other hand, eats a lot more often - although rarely gets chance to finish his food because Sherlock is always rushing him off doing things! I find that pretty funny - the way they're sat in restaurants & cafes and stuff, John's eating Sherlock isn't, then suddenly Sherlock just dashes off and John has to run after him abandoning his food. Poor John!

Reichenbach Theories » sherlock acting stupid? » February 16, 2012 4:23 pm |
I think the moment Sherlock knew he was going to have to "die" right after the scene with Richard Brook. Him and John were outside and Sherlock says something like he knows what he has to do...then he was acting stupid all through the roof scene to try and fool Moriarty...although I think he was still genuinely surprised when he shot himself!
But d'you think he already knew about the 3 assassins before Jim told him??

Yeah, they should do it in time for New Year's Day again, or perhaps Jan 6th 2013 - Sherlock's birthday is Jan 6th so that'd be a nice touch.
