Found this one on Pinterest just now, made me catch my breath a bit...

With all the Sherlock-curls (not that they're bad, not at all!  ) fans I guess I need to back you up on on this one. I like BC best short-haired and with his hair his natural auburn.

The Stephen Ezard look is not bad either.

The first I've seen of Torchwood was Children of Earth, which I thought was phantastic. I watched the previous episodes then and liked them too, although Children of Earth is still the best season IMO.

I didn't care for Miracle Day all that much TBH.

OT: I love your avatar, Ivy! So cute! :D

How is "Ginger kids - Help find a cure" not offensive?
It's like saying "all brown-eyed people are liars" or "all blondes are stupid".

I don't doubt you meant it as a joke and didn't want to offend. However, I've known quite a lot of kids who suffered/are suffering a lot because of remarks like that one. Every joke gets a lot less funny when you are at the receiving end. Even in an adult setting.

In a nutshell: different etymologies. English, while being a Germanic language in origin, has assimilated and adapted words from all kinds of languages. /end smart-alec mode

I'd like to take this opportunity to mention that some of us CHOOSE to be ginger! I've been proudly ginger for several years now, ...

Same here. From a very early age on I have been jealous of people who are naturally red-haired. So as soon as I could, I started going auburn. (I used to call it "red", then thought "ginger" was the proper way to call it, but was corrected by a British friend telling me that "ginger" had a very negative connotation and I should always describe myself as "auburn").

I do not get the anti-red-head sentiments at all.

I think that kid in that pic is adorable and I find the hate expressed in the captions hurtful, tasteless and appalling.

This reminds me a lot of a poem we once discussed at university:

Dearest creature in creation,
Study English pronunciation.
I will teach you in my verse
Sounds like corpse, corps, horse, and worse.
I will keep you, Suzy, busy,
Make your head with heat grow dizzy.
Tear in eye, your dress will tear.
So shall I! Oh hear my prayer.
Just compare heart, beard, and heard,
Dies and diet, lord and word,
Sword and sward, retain and Britain.
(Mind the latter, how it's written.)

It goes on and on and on...

Finally, which rhymes with enough,
Though, through, plough, or dough, or cough?
Hiccough has the sound of cup.
My advice is to give up!!!

I've practically just returned from a trip to Dublin. I loved it so much, I cried when I had to go back home. I just loved everything there and would go back in a heartbeat if I a) didn't have to go back to work and b) had more money.

I'd totally recommend going to Dublin!

Watched it yesterday and I found it really well done. I've always loved Agatha Christie stories and I must say that I like Julia McKenzie best of all the Miss Marples I've seen so far. Also loved Shirley Henderson.

Benedict was extremely charming in it.

I'm rather torn on this one. My rational self thinks that Moriarty is dead and that's it. He was a madman.

Another part of me is wondering: what if the man we knew as Moriart wasn't Moriarty at all but really just an actor? Can you really fake having received an award for a program? Wouldn't that be easy to verify? (But then, maybe it would for a criminal mastermind?) Sherlock describes Moriarty as "not a man but a spider in a web" pulling strings like a puppeteer (or somethig to that effect). What if that guy really just was one of those marionettes whose strings the real Moriarty pulled? It seems strange that he would kill himself but everone else (like an actor impersonating him) would certainly be expendable to the real Moriarty. And obviously no one had ever seen him so no one can verify that Moriarty was really Moriarty. And the old woman in The Big Game described his voice as soft. Now it may just be me, but Moriarty never sounded soft to me at all.
And Moriarty is THE antagonist. It would be a shame to kill him off so soon ("soon" because obviously I wish for more than just one more season of Sherlock).

Yeah, I'm not entirely convinced of all of that myself but I thought I'd put it out there and see what other people think.
