Yes, I totally agree.
I was just trying to explain why those clothes, not justifying that John isn't living in Baker Street. He is!

John's outfit in the last takes may be forced by the way they chose to shoot them. The scene's made with the same camera and in one take, and the actors keep moving around the flat as the camera goes round. Then I think they chose several layers of clothes (coat, cardigan, shirt) for John to be able to keep taking them off gradually as the scene evolves, so the viewers can think events happen in different days/hours...

But I agree this is very cute and I positively think that John and Rosie moved to 221B.

Series Four News » Poll: Favorite season 4 episode? » January 29, 2017 11:36 am

TLD for me. I don't choose my favourite episodes for being the last ones of their shows or trilogies. For example, I prefer "Catching fire" rather than "Mockingjay". It depends on the plot, the performances, the music... And I think TLD stands out over the other two.

Well, of course John is his "conductor of light" but I think there is more to it. Because in the same episode we saw Sherlock waving away a whole room full of women by saying "not you", then he sent his inner Mycroft away with the same words, coming to the conclusion that the only who mattered was John. Yes, he helps Sherlock by saving lives, yes, he helps by just listening and asking the right question, but in the context of the whole episode I would say this is about John, the man he has just lost to a woman. The man who matters most to him.

The Spanish translation you quoted would for the THOB quote about the "conductor of light", but in this case it is not correct.

Thank you for your awesome explanation, SusiGo. That's more or less what I thought. Your meaning suits the sentence way more than the translation we got.  It's very Johnlock, actually.

Call me an ignorant, but I need to ask this. As a non native English speaker, I have some doubts when I watch Sherlock. Then I see the episodes in Spanish as well to understand everything. But I don't think the translations are always accurate.

How do you understand the "It's always you, John Watson. You keep me right"? It was translated into Spanish as "Tú me iluminas" (you enlighten me, or you make see the light), but I'm not sure that's what that means in English. It sounds way deeper to me, more ambiguous, doesn't it? Doesn't Johnlockers rely on that sentence as some kind of proof for Sherlock's speech as a confession?

I don't know, help me!

Well, maybe John does need that reassurement from Mary. She told him: "Get the hell on with it". But that was only inside John's mind. Then we get her recorded words, which are real words: go, John, stop mourning and live your life, because I know who you really are. Mary ships Johnlock.

These aren't complete, are they? I feel curious about 'Touch the light, the heat', but I think I would read it when it's finished. Waiting kills me...

Hahaha, Go for the free translations, Russian people, haha.

I don't really know what 'The final problem' means. The final problem may be how to realise that caring isn't always a disadvantage.

Random Sherlockiana » Got any Sherlock related collection stuffs? » January 18, 2017 11:28 pm

I just found this thread and I'd like to contribute. I've got many things! Perhaps too many, actually:

BOOKS
- 'The complete stories of Sherlock Holmes' (special edition in Spanish).
- All the books with Ben and Martin's covers.
- A bilingual edition of 'The memoirs of Sherlock Holmes' (Chinese and English).
- A miniature book of 'The adventures of Sherlock Holmes' (English).
- 'The book of Sherlock Holmes', a study by AKAL (publishing house). It contains explanations for the stories, ACD's biography, a chronology or the stories, pictures, studies on the characters...
- 'How to think like Sherlock Holmes', a book that tries to explain how to build a brain attic.

OTHERS
- A mousepad.
- Two Funkos (Sherlock and Watson).
- Baker Street plaque.
- Two T-shirts (very beautiful an original ones).
- A handmade bookmark.
- Currently waiting for 'A Study in Pink' manga.
- Seasons 1, 2, 3 and TAB DVD's
- Kleenex (from Sherlock Holmes Museum in London).
- A pen.

Wow, I'm quite surprised by this. I never came across these videos... To be honest, I don't see anything wrong in Martin's reaction at The Hobbit shooting. I think he's talking and goes on with what he's saying, but doesn't seem pissed at Benedict's appearance.

The Final Problem » Mycroft in TFP » January 18, 2017 12:11 am

Aw, Punch me in the face, it's so beautifully written. I see you love Mycroft's character very much. I always liked him, but after TFP I'm very fond of Mycroft.

I read somewhere that, in Literature, when you create a character and write it, it doesn't belong to you anymore. The character's first actions trigger the next ones, and the writer no longer can do whatever he wishes for but what it's true to the character. Miguel de Unamuno (Spanish early 20th century writer) wrote a very interesting book on the matter ('Niebla', translated 'Mist' into English). His main character, Augusto Pérez, lives a non-sense life and decides to commit suicide. Then the author inserts himself in the novel as a character to chat to Augusto, and tells him that he can't kill himself, as he is just a fictional being and has to obbey the writer's plan. But Augusto tells him that he's no longer his character, that a suicide will fit his personality perfectly and the author can't go for a happy ending, because it wouldn't be serious or true.

I don't want to persuade anyone to believe in Johnlock. My point is just that, intended or not, the authors created here two characters with strong personalities that have been completed by the audience (as it is suggested as well in books like 'The Neverending story', where the real saviour of Fantastica isn't the author, nor the characters, but Bastian, the reader). And some audiencies completed them as gay because it really isn't a wild approach to the matter. Just that.

I think we all agree that John should stop dating right now and be happy with Sherlock, hahaha. An ex-assassin, a psychopath... What would be next?

Lis, I'm sure John told Sherlock after Eurus revealed herself.   Why wouldn't he?  He believed in the girl in the bus, and Sherlock believed in "Faith" - I don't think there was any need for John to feel bad about being fooled.

Oh yeah I don't doubt that John would have told Sherlock or that he should have felt the need to hide or be ashamed of it, it's just we didn't see it on screen and I wondered how the conversation would go. "Oh by the way the woman I flirted with was your sister...I don't txt her anymore..."

Haha, that's funny.

The Final Problem » Things we loved about TFP! » January 17, 2017 10:48 pm

I still need a rewatch, but I think I liked the episode, in general. As time passes I find myself more comfortable with what happened, despite the plot holes, as many of you pointed out.

What I loved the most:

- Mycroft's cinema room and the way he says the well-known lines of the film. Then his sweet face when he sees the video where Sherlock hugs him.
- Mycroft's umbrella-sword-gun.
- Sherlock saying John was family and John's smirk.
- The memories Mycroft and Sherlock have about their childhood, with the kids interacting.
- Pirate Sherlock and captain Mycroft in disguise (I remembered the Minions when I saw his clothes, I don't know why).
- "Vatican cameos"
- I want to break free! Andrew raising his arm was so Freddie-like I wanted to scream of pure joy.
- Mycroft's reactions to Big G's death.
- Sherlock's breakdown after calling Molly.
- Soldier John and soldier-like Sherlock.
- Mycroft's nearly self-sacrifice to avoid Sherlock losing another best friend.
- Sherlock realising Redbeard wasn't a dog and looking desperately for John's salvation.
- "Greg" / "He's a good man".
- 221B being rebuilt.
- Sherlock being so nice to Rosie and helping John raise her.

Moriarty's lines are always ambiguous. I'll go for the sexual implications as well in TFP. He was very funny, he really knows how to make everybody uncomfortable.
