A Study In Pink » Donovan, did she ever date Sherlock? » March 26, 2014 7:37 am

I used to hate Donovan for being down on Sherlock as well, until I read more about police protocol, and can at least sympathize with her in a professional capacity. Though her feelings seem very personal, beyond professional misgiving. We may never know the backstory; she may have just been written to elicit more sympathy for Sherlock, a difficult and prickly character as it is. I wish there could be a little more exposition on her and Lestrade, besides that bank robbery chase in the beginning of SiT, like them arguing about Sherlock and Lestrade defending his trust in him, etc.

Wow, the details are fantastic, down to the red stitched buttonholes! However, my hubby will have a cow about the price; even though it's worth every cent

If I may give my input here,
I'm quite surprised that an actor of his caliber is appearing at these cons; don't get me wrong, I think it's wonderful he's bringing himself to his fans. I've attended a fair number of them such as SDCC, Dragon-Con, and Star Wars Celebration, but he's still considered more of an A-list main stream actor (imo) who's done a few sci-fi / fantasy roles, and most of the actors who do the con circuit, while highly talented and beloved by fans, are really more genre-niche, and much lower-profile. I remember Benedict in an interview saying that if he attended Comic-Con, he would be torn from limb to limb!
I hope that he has a chance to take it easy; the last few years have been busy for him it seems, and that there are many good roles for him in the future.

Remember during the Oscars when John Travolta totally messed up Idina Menzel's name (the singer of 'Let It Go?) Well here's his next victim...

(In all fairness, poor John got a lot of flak for it and apologized profusely, but still... if you know beforehand the name you're going to announce on worldwide TV, a little practice wouldn't have hurt)

I'm not averse to watching Benedict in Atonement, actually. It'd be interesting to see him play someone who's completely despicable. It's just that neither the book nor the film hold any interest for me. So I don't think I'm gonna watch that one, unless I find someone who owns the DVD and can lend it to me.

Yeah, it was too-slow paced for me; Ben only shows up sporadically as far as I can recall. You may be better off finding You-tube or other clips of just him somewhere (given his popularity, I'm sure it's out there on the net)

Here is an interesting article I found that may shed light on Sherlock and John being able to forgive Mary's deception and shooting in HLV  http://io9.com/why-we-hold-grudges-about-little-injuries-but-forgive-b-1538315074  . Of course there are many other factors involved plot-wise, and being fiction, many liberties are taken, but it is nice to know Moftiss isn't entirely off the deep end.

I'm aware that there have been many discussions already on the forum, so feel free to move this to the appropriate thread

Another Benaddict here!  My husband is the true Sherlockian of the house, having read the books and watched Basil Rathbone series as a kid. He told me a few times to give the books and movies a try, I blow it off...then the BBC series comes out, and gradually it sucks me in, til I'm totally engulfed and Cumberbatched! Now he sorta regrets introducing me to it.. but hey, I've started reading the ACD books too.

Nice article- but there was a hint of questioning of 'why' Ben's so popular, as if his recent roles have not been enough to convince the world of his talent.

For me it was just when S3 came out (US)..I'd seen S1 and most of S2, enjoyed them, but didn't go Ben-crazy like now. As a matter of fact I neglected to catch up on TRF til recently so I never understood the Sherlock jump part Behind the curve ball, yes.

I'm willing to overdose on Cumberbatch for the good of science!
What's sad is that I had seen Atonement, Creation, and The Other Bolyn Girl, blissfully unaware of him. (This was Before Sherlock, of course)

Ways in which Benedict is preferable to Bono

Adorable / Attitude (Benedict - Lovely, Bono - Dick)
Beauty
Cheekbonos
not a Dick, obviously.
Endearing. Benedict, that is. Not Bono.
Fluffy fluff...curls
Gentleman
Have you looked at him?
Isn't it obvious?
Jumps into the picture at the perfect moment
Knows how to be dressed to kill
Lovely, lovelier, loveliest
"Modesty" is his middle name
No orange glasses
Oh so beautiful
Personality - he has one! / pitouresque😋
Quite Extraordinary
Restless hands and curls and all that
Speaks like a jaguar hiding in a cello
Talks like a jaguar hiding in a cello

Unpretentious!               (Did I spell that right?)

Personally, I would rather wait 2 years for a truly polished and carefully crafted production than have it released too 'soon' and have the quality compromised.

Thanks for starting this thread- I love Molly as a character! She's the most 'balanced' female in the series, imo; not worldly or sophisticated like Irene or even Janine, but she's not naive and certainly no pushover!
As much as I would like to see Molly's romantic wishes happily fulfilled, it's for the best that she and Sherlock remain just friends

Enjoyed the Testament game as well; the storyline was great and I think I liked being Watson even more so than Sherlock! Also played an older game, 'Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened' which had a promising angle of Holmes involved with a Cthulu /HP Lovecraft-inspired case.. but the ending was disappointing, imo.
