Got mine today already ripped everything into my Hard Drive I had already bought the Special Post-episode features on iTunes so while there are many things that are old news (the way they decided to show Sherlock's death and then his inexplicable appaeance at the cemetary) there are also all sorts of new thingsincluding fan theories in detail as to how it was done and how their shooting the scene in so many ways worked to confound the "spys" (were they actually showing how "it" was done? or were they just using safety precautions for the scene?) I am disappointed they didn't include Many Happy Returns" but  perhaps, if enough of us fans demand it, they'll put it out at a later date.

I was registered on One other Board* but it didn't seem to have much going on and lately it's been infested with sales spammers. This board on the other hand is much more lively and while it's primarily a SHERLOCK fan Forum it's also very welcoming to those of us who have been fans of all things Sherlockian.

Unfortunately I still equate Sinnerman with it's use in the Thomas Crown Affair starring Pierce Brosnan and Renee Russo

My question is when are they going to update John's Blog? It's been stuck at Sign of Three since that Episode aired  on BBC One (It only just aired on PBS last night)

Are they waiting until we (in America) get to see His Last Vow on PBS? (unlikely IMO) or....

Are they waiting until Series Four airs in December? (More likely IMO as the events of Series 3 strech from November 2013-December 2014)

So John and Sherlock go to investigate the Bainbridge matter and John talks to Pvt. Bainbridge's CO.
John refers to his having been in the 5th Northumberland Fusiliers to which the CO dismisses him as retired "you could be a bloody plumber now for all i know."
However, when John presented his military credentials at Baskerville no-one questioned him.
Now, there was a considerable amount of time between the two (two and a half years at minimum)
On the other hand it seemed to me that the CO had a bit of an attitude towards John not just as a "Civilian" but also perhaps as a matter of "My unit's better than yours".

anyone else notice this?

Sorry, Golddragon71, but you're mistaken about the sniper being able to see the sidewalk where Sherlock landed.  HIs view of the sidewalk was blocked by the low brick building positioned between the snipers's 2nd floor window and the sidwalk beneath the hospital.  John stood at the far end of the brick building (by desgin, as Sherlock planned it), and it prevented him too from the seeing the sidewalk.  (In the picture below, John has not yet moved back the far corner of the building as Sherlock insisted he do before he jumped.)

If you look carefully at the view through window where the sniper was located, there is a shot when the camera was positioned higher than the man, and you can see the brick side of the building, because the view is angled downward. (The bricks are much easier to see on TV.  Check and see if I'm right.)

In the other shot of the sniper, when the camera is looking straight out the window, we see the upper part of the trees along the sidewalk across the street.  The roof of the brick building is below the view through the window, so we don't see it. (Again, the tree leaves are easy to see on TV.  Take a look at the episode and see for yourself.)

The sniper could see John's upper body over the roof of the brick building as John stood on the sidewalk after Sherlock jumped, but not John's legs or the sidewalk itself.

However, the sniper was actually in a good position to see the opposite end of the building from where John stood, looking out the window to his right -- which meant he could see the alledged airbag being inflated and moved by the crew of men.

One thing that's been bugging me is the sniper who was trained on John his scope followed John all the way through to after Holmes' Body was carried off. that meant that his vantage point had an unobstructed view of the point of impact. ergo! he (of all people) would have seen the way Sherlock faked it and as he lived t put down the rifle we have to assume that for some reason he elected to not act on the knowledge that Sherlock didn't meet his end of the bargain.

here a theory i have
He was bought off. It's possible that while Moriarty was in custody, Sherlock and Mycroft had also already "pinched" Moriarty's preferred triggermen and made them counter-offers. Not just monetary but as Mycroft was in the government he could ensure the triggerman/men that they would be given full immunity/pardons and yes rewards for simply playing at being on Jim's side.

The thing is, aside from his smoking addiction, (and until HLV) he is never shown to be an addict of any hard substances like cocaine or Morphine (or Heroin as in Elementary) In fact, in A study in Pink he insists on being clean. (and even in HLV he insists that he's still clean he was just there "under cover"
Plus Sherlock had not intended for John or himself to get as drunk as they did. He had worked out a strictly regimented drinking proceedure which John fouled up by secretly adding shots of various other spirits to their beers

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned already but when in SiB Sherlock and John are walking through a theater:
SH: So what're you going to call this one? "The Belly-Button Murders"?
JW: Uhm....."The Navel Treatment"? (After "The Naval Treaty)

The Reichenbach Fall » Binary code. » January 17, 2014 4:29 pm

would be cool if it had some unlockable statement to it to the fans like saying "Elementary My Dear Warson" (Moftiss are big fans of the Rathbone/Bruce Movies so it would have been a cute easter egg on their part) course you'd have to have fans who could translate the binary code to it's numeric value and then translate that to alpha/numerics in order to switch it over to english....

and is any of that actually possible? (Math and computer science are not my subjects)

add to that Moriarty himself said "There is no code! DOOFUS!!!!" It was just a con to put Sherlock through the paces and keep him distracted.

Before Sherlock came back probably but after his return was announced I'm sure Lestrade might have dropped by (off-camera) and told John some of it. (plus there were some cutaways in the reunion including them going tfrom one resturaunt to another so Sherlock himself might have already been aware of The Empty Hearse)

I'm sure Lestrade told him about it at one point or another Anderson was always bugging Lestrade about his theories and Anderson's being kicked off the force for his obsessions would have reached john through lestrade or the evening news even.

I started thinking about the Anderson scene and the thing that came through to me was that the camera is on John in the Tube Car it flashes White we get the Sherlock explains scene then it flashes white again and we're back in the Tube Car where Sherlock starts laughing. that to me says the entire sequence is how John is imagining what Sherlock would say if he wanted to explain it. and Anderson is John's mind saying there's no way that of all the people Sherlock would tell the last person to hear the truth would be Anderson (he'd have to get it through the grapevine not from the horse's mouth!)

Character Analysis » Antheaheory about Anthea » January 16, 2014 3:52 am

Given that she was the one who delivered John to Irene and called her saying "He's on his way and you were right he thinks he's meeting mycroft", Is it possible she wa texting with Irene all along? Irene likes women... Anthea or whatever her name really is had no interest in John...perhaps has no interest in any men,.....just a theory.

Then there's this quote....
John: You don't trust your own Secret Service?
Mycroft: Naturally Not. They all spy on people for money.
