By the way I love this description of his voice : "brushed-suede vowels".
I love that description too.

I did try to read the book, but found it just a bit too much. I was hoping the BBC would find a way to merge the writing style with the medium of television, but now I'm nervous about seeing it. I guess it's good to read these things though and not go in with too high expectations and then be disappointed. I'm still looking forward to it, but now I have a more realistic expectation.

So, update on what is happening in this forum:
After pointing all this out, it seems to have made little difference. We've conversed as staff and it appears that Admin want to leave it as is. Not my problem, not my wallet then.
I disagree that it's made little difference. I see a significant slow down in Benedict's picture thread. I admit it saddens me, but I understand it. I read the story you linked above and that saddens me too. I think mass internet media has just changed the way people see material like this. Just attaching pictures or articles to a forum like this doesn't seem like such a bad thing to do, but I think if we were holding an actual book or magazine or cd or something, we might hesitate or give it more thought before we act, as we're holding something real and substantial in our hands, so the idea of copyright might seem more tangible. I'll have to work on this myself, as I'm often tempted to post new pictures of Benedict.

Birling Day is the annual day where MJN flies the wealthy Mr. Birling to the Six Nations rugby final. They all look forward to it, because even though Mr. Birling is pompous he gives huge tips to people he likes. Meanwhile, Douglas and Carolyn usually wage a war of whits over the bottle of expensive whiskey that Mr. Birling insists he have on his flight.

Yeah, that trick has never actually worked for me. Unless I say like a split second before the dentist begins whatever painful treatment he feels is required to make said pain go away.

They are 'glorifying' the TV as some form of educational tool for someone as apparently brilliant as Holmes?
I find that VERY hard to swallow and yet, being made America surely suits this premise.

I don't watch the show and find this premise patently ridiculous and severely beneath Sherlock's character and brilliance. I can only apologize on behalf of my country and the morons who run the network TV industry.

I saw Magic Mike, which wasn't so very magical.
Words, which could have used a few more to explain what the hell was actually going on.
Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, which has awesome English actors in it, but really cemented my idea that India is not a good vacation destination idea for me. I've reached Garbo status and "want to be a little more alone" when vacationing.
The Private Life Of Sherlock Holmes, which I really enjoyed and was impressed by how much Moftiss used in our favorite Sherlock.
The Cabin In The Woods, which was an interesting premise for a horror movie, but I felt it lacked something in the end.

uh... what exactly is The Big Bang Theory doing with the other British comedies?
That may be odd, but I have to admit I love the idea that the show has found that kind of love and acceptance across the pond. It's certainly one of the few shows on TV in the US right now that I'm proud to send to our British friends.

I love the jacket and cardigan too! He looks so English. And, how cool that Matt Smith popped up in a pic.
I also loved his outfit from earlier, he looks so good out and about the last couple of days.
