Will they bring back Irene Adler or is she confirmed to have only existed in the Series 2 universe & staying away for the foreseeable future?

The one thing that disappointed me in this episode is that we didn't find out if Sherlock was right.
I bet that was rather the point - driving us and Sherlock mad!
I highly doubt that either pill was safe to eat. It's just more fun when you can believe that you had a fifty fifty chance. I think both pills were poisonous to begin with. It's all in the theatrics. You're so busy watching the pills that you don't look at the cabbie - like a magician's trick.
Cabbie: I'm gonna eat this one now.
Show's audience: Yeah right. You made a slight of mouth & expect us to believe you.
Cabbie: Sherlock believed me.
Audience: He's as much a drama queen as you are. Actually he's better at the theatrics part than you.
Cabbie's ghost after John has shot him: I'll have my revenge...
General Benedict Appreciation » The name Cumberbatch » October 19, 2012 10:51 am |
The funny part is that not even his co-star in the Frankenstein play can pronounce his surname properly. They went up to receive an award together & the guy said "Benedict..." looks at Benedict who had to complete his own name. Then awkward silence in the room. Then both exit stage area. lol.

Sherlock Holmes wrote:
Eh? I don't get it...why would Sherlock be interested in her?
I just thought it would be funny if they got together.
She actually has some similarities to him:
They are both usually the smartest person in the room.
They both have obsessive personalities: When Sherlock is working a case, he doesn't eat. Abby actually does the same thing but she will drink heaps of caffeinated drinks, where as Sherlock just lives off air. Sherlock will often work through the night, as does Abby.
They both prefer to work alone most of the time & operate outside the normal chain of command for their fields.
They are both extremely stubborn when they hold a particular view & they happen to believe that they are right.
They are both alarmingly loyal to people that they are close with. Sherlock just won't admit to it.
They both have an older mentor who is very close to them: Sherlock has Mrs Hudson; Abby has Gibbs.
They both like to have something to talk at: Sherlock has his skull; Abby has Bert the hippo.
They both have a habit of talking way too fast when they're trying to explain something to their colleagues: Sherlock's "deductions"; Abby's "explanations" which usually take place in her lab.
In terms of personality, they are not as different as they first appear: He is a high functioning sociopath (that's Emo in i-gen language) & she is your friendly neighbourhood Goth. While his approach is to be icy & hers is to make you feel all warm & fuzzy, they make it known almost immediately that they are not to be messed with.
In terms of what Sherlock would see in her, I think she would be more difficult to read. Not just visually - I know he usually does the once over with his eyes, but he's never satisfied until his hunches are confirmed by the respondent's reactions. He makes outrageous statements about them for this reason, to see how they would react. The thing with Abby, though, is that she doesn't react the way you would normally expect someone to r

Sherlock Holmes & Abby Sciuto are made for each other. The Atlantic Ocean is only a minor set back in getting them to come together.
General Benedict Appreciation » Benedict's voice » September 15, 2012 3:07 am |
Montgomery Burns!
If they ever made a British version of the Simpsons (which they should! even if it's just a one-off special - just so we can see what Springfield might look like in the UK), he would make a great Mr Burns. I've heard him use that voice when he's joking around in interviews (sounds almost identical to the one that Shearer uses).
A Study In Pink » The Pilot » September 15, 2012 12:45 am |
Finally got around to watching the Pilot. I stayed away from it until the memory of the first episode was not so fresh in my mind & wouldn't influence my judgement of it too much.
It's really good. In many ways it's actually better than Study in Pink, I think mainly because of the shorter time frame - the plot was much sharper. Even with the original stories, they worked best as short stories - not as full length novels. & Doyles best works have come out of the short stories. Six 1 hour episodes would have been interesting to watch because the stories would cover a longer period of time & you would be able to see much more subtle character development across several episodes.

Can we get a forum or thread set up for creativity ideas? If you happen to think of something & you go: hey, that would make for a good concept/prompt, I wonder what people are gonna do with it? Is there a place where those prompts could get put? I know that this is mainly a forum for the discussion of the actual show rather than all the spin-offs that us fans like to come up with, but I think it would still be interesting to see where the muses take us.

Series Three Suggestions & Ideas » Sherlock´s character in season 3 - same or different? » September 14, 2012 9:28 pm |
It's true that you can't come back from the dead without some change in your personality but I don't think they will change him too much. In the interim, he would probably be very different, but after he comes back (once everyone accepts that he's not a suicidal maniac ), he would probably slip back into his old ways - people do that when they get comfortable
I haven't read enough of the original stories & certainly not in the right order (have always read the stories in jumbled order) so wouldn't know if there were any major character changes in the original stories (probably not, as Sir Arthur Connon Doyle didn't really care for much in terms of continuity - probably why it didn't matter that I didn't read them in the right order )
I love your take on his being afraid of heights - that's actually a really good suggestion.

This is the first music video incorporating footage that I've made (have always used still images before).
Apologies for the reverse image (don't know how to flip it right way yet)
Song is by an online musical act called Fu Music.

quote from beginning of this story:
"...it was one of his peculiarities that in his more intense moments he would permit himself no food, and I have known him to presume upon his iron strength until he has fainted from pure inanition."

Sherlock's "unique perspective on life & the world"
phase 1: Sherlock discovers that he has a unique perspective
phase 2: Sherlock tries to justify why he has a unique perspective & what he's gonna do about it.
phase 3: This is the result of Sherlock's unique perspective
