She left "miss me?" in her note to Sherlock, which everyone knows is Moriarty's catchphrase...so what's the connection?

Blackbeard. Or how Sherlock stole Christmas
Love the little prequel set in Sherlock's past where he gets his heart broken - so sad!
I like the way it skips through the years.
2012 was particularly heartbreaking, but then it got a lot more cheerful and the Johnlocky bit on the final Christmas Eve was perfect.
Loved the idea of John giving him a puppy.
La Vita Nuova
Alcoholic John is pretty heartbreaking to read but also very believable.
Reading this after watching S4 E1 is even more believable and heartbreaking tbh, it fits so well with what actually happened, the beginning part at least!
I really hope the reunion in the actual series happens in a similar way to yours - reuniting for a case.
Your portrayal of John's anger and how he's directing it away from himself is so accurate it's scary! Are you secretly Steven Moffat?
John changed Sherlock's pants in his sleep!!
I genuinely thought Sherlock was faking sickness at first.
Chapter 5 made me cry.
The ending was perfect and I'd like to read more explicit versions on AO3 please.
Heroes For Another Day
Your characterisations were spot on!
I love the idea of John being covered in sick after a day at the surgery, and Sherlock using ridiculously expensive shampoo (and probably a ridiculously expensive conditioner to match!)
Beehives!
I laughed at the idea that the criminals had read Sherlock's studies in rope and wood, and therefore knew how best to secure him.
"...boltholes sounded suspiciously like the ploy a third-rate spy novel author would fall back on to sustain a cock-and-bull plot." Do I sense a jibe at S3? Hope so!
I like the way Mrs Hudson became involved as John's "assistant" briefly, with John taking the lead role as detective.
John's bad ass ordering around of Mycroft's men at the sewers.
Your reference to Moffat & Gatiss at the end was most amusing!
Who Is Scarlett?
Sherlock is written so accurately here, I love it.
And yayyy the kiss with the smashe

I don't know... this episode just showed me that their relationship was doomed from the start. She has one of the greatest minds at disposal (Sherlock) and a very loyal and capable solider as a husband, and yet she again choose to keep them in the dark and do her own thing.
She would never trust them enough to be what John would've wanted her to be.
That's really her biggest character flaw is that she's unable to trust people, because of her background.

I still cant get over the fact that mary sacrificed herself. Didnt she care about john and the baby? This just doesnt make sense to me...
Because she genuinely cared about Sherlock. They were friends. And she owed him.

Thanks everyone, for another great round of fics. Here are my reviews/comments:
Through A Glass, Darkly
I like the way this has so much action in Sherlock's mind palace. The methodical but disjointed way in which it's written perfectly resembles the way I imagine Sherlock thinks.
'there's the rub' - nice reference, made me smile.
Also loved the Great Mouse Detective reference explained in context.
I love the Johnlock AHHH, it warmed my heart.
Of Decisions and Dogs
I like the way it starts in Baker Street and then moves into a case. Reminds me of the way the cases were told in the canon.
Sherlock got a date omg!! I was waiting the whole time for Sherlock "dating" to be all for a case and that really he doesn't care about David at all. I was partially right, but the fact that he was dating David to try and get a reaction from John and make him jealous was better than I could have hoped for! Their first kiss was adorable and sweet, as was their first Christmas as a couple. John's gift to him was perfect, and I'm hoping to read about Sherlock's gift in a slightly more R Rated version of the fic!
Sherlock's relationship with Toby was adorable. Hoping to see some of that on screen in S4 tbh!
The Wealthy Bachelor
This was the one written for me. Sorry for giving you such an awkward prompt, lol. First of all, I really like the title. It's very BBC Sherlock in that it's taken from a canon title but adapted/altered.
John in 'soldier mode' - oh yes!
I like the way things build up slowly, with hints of the different cases.
Good job at modernising the adaptation! I like all the little details that remind me of the canon case.
Nice hints of Johnlock with Sherlock not wanting to remember John's wedding day. And the description of John watching him play the violin was just beautiful.
When John steals the baby is brilliant and his tearful reunion with Sherlock at Baker Street the perfect heartwarming ending that left me with tears in my e

Yeah, which sets it up nicely for the "I love you" which is gonna appear at some point in the next two eps.

So you mean there is an actual case? Like, with criminals involved? I thought it was just something more personal (help him get over it) and in the end romantic
I think there will be a very huge case involving Moriarty, Sherrinford, Mary's past and this creepy guy from the trailer. Like the final problem to solve and then all those black lotus guys and Magnussens will stop dropping and there will be no more game like this.
I'm kinda tired and confused and I don't know if what I wrote makes sense so sorry if not ^^

Someone on tumblr made screenshots of the texts John wrote in bed and those he made on the bus. It is not the same script. And not the same style of writing. They are not written to the same person.
But how can you tell?
Do you have a link?
It's an interesting theory but I think that might be reading too much into it. I think they come from John.
The Six Thatchers » How did Sherlock & John get there before Mary? » January 1, 2017 11:16 pm |
OK, I know how they traced Mary - they had a tracking device in the stick....but surely that still meant they would be one step behind her at all times. "Oh look, she's gone there, we'll go there too"...so how did they actually manage to get there before her and surprise her?
The Six Thatchers » First impressons and discussions » January 1, 2017 11:13 pm |
She didn't mention Rosie because neither her nor John are in physical danger...but John is in emotional danger. She knows how much of a mess John was in after Sherlock died, she knows how sensitive and vulnerable he is. She needs Sherlock to save him EMOTIONALLY.

That was never going to happen with Mary in the picture. Now that she's sadly departed, things will, eventually, start to get back to normal with J & S

I'm new here but after this episode I just HAD to find a discussion Forum to talk about it.
I'm not sure if it was the fault of the leaking stream I was watching it on but the episode seemed weird somehow. I'll have to rewatch as I probably have missed some details and there were so many...anyway, mary's death didn't completely convince me, the repitition of the phrase "IF I'm dead..." and the resamblance to Sherlock's fake death...
Then the "visions" Sherlock seemed to be having...
All in all an episode full of suspense but lacking Sherlock and John.
Sorry for my bad englisch, it's even worse after this disturbing episode.

Bus stop lady is easily the worst addition they ever did to the show, because of the way they portrayed her as "targeting" John...it takes too much responsibility away from him, as if he wasn't a guy who was getting around beforehand.
Plus, what kind of woman flirts with a guy who wears a wedding ring?I don't see it like that. He was fully aware of what he was doing and what his responsibilities was - even to the point of trying to end it with her before it even started.
I kind of liked the addition. It added something new to John's character. Just like with Sherlock - not everything he did is something I can defend. Same with John - I can't defend being unfaithful with your wife. But I LOVE that they go to those places, it makes the characters SO much more interesting.
I agree. It adds more depth to the characters. Makes them more fallable, flawed and...as a result, realistic.
What kind of a woman would flirt with a guy with a wedding ring? Actually, plenty of women would. Wedding rings mean nothing, affairs happen all the time.

I'm suspicious of everyone right now. She's probably an agent of Moriarty. We all know John gets no luck with women. He has worse luck than Molly.

I genuinely liked this episode from beginning to end. After the disappointment of Series 3, it was exactly what I needed. A bit of darkness.
