Just wanted to say I agree with Ormond Sacker. Molly and Sherlock are definitely not canon and in my opinion have far less chemistry than John and Sherlock, but no one ever complains about Sherlolly shipping, (not even non shippers) why? Because heterosexual relationships are the accepted norm , and Johnlock is seen as some sort of perversion. Homophobia is strong word and I honestly don't think anyone in this forum is homophobic. But just like Sherlolly shippers are entitled to believe in and hope for romance between their fave pairing so too should Johnlock lovers be allowed to ship their ship without continually being told they are being ridiculous, seeing things that aren't there, perverting canon etc...
Well, I wouldn't be in that camp. I find the whole idea of Sherlolly even more far fetched than Johnlock.

I think 2 reasons.
People are just not used to beautiful, loving male freindships. Everything these days is sexualised and in your face. So when modern readers look at The Canon, that's what they look for/see.
Humans are generally sexual, so that too is what they look for. Most animals look at another animal and either want to eat it, shag it, fight it or run away from it...
But as humans, we have the benefit of being able to have more nuanced relationships.
But certainly, everything does not have to be about sex.
I fully agree with all of this. But the first sentance the most.

Mycroft. He's funny. He's smart. My dog is named after him.

WOW. Seems cool. I wish I could play. I have one. I tried once. But the fact that it didn't have frets totally threw me. IDK. Perhaps I should dig it out, and give it another go....but....HOW DO YOU KNOW WHERE YOUR NOTES ARE?! Gah! I tried to teach myself, as I am too poor for a proper teacher. I had a book, and bought a video. But both failed to help educate my guitar fingers in the ways violin speak.

I'm wanting to see it as the people who really believe it do. I mean, I get the jokes, and inuendo. But I don't think it's real. But it makes me curious as to why others HONESTLY think it's real. Perhaps then it would change my mind. Right now, though. It's just funny jabs mixed with wishful thinking.

Wasn't that Irene's role?
Yup. That's my point.
She IS sexual tension.
Character Analysis » Who would suit Sherlock in a relationship? » January 10, 2014 8:33 pm |
Perhaps. But her whole being is that of sex. It's how she is. It's who she is. It's what she does. She is this programs human embodyment of sex. And she is thrust at the main charachter. You may not preceve it as recipricated...but you cannot deny her whole exsistence is to add the element of sex.

I don't think Molly is "enough" for him. She lacks a certain spark of adventure. But I agree. It would be rewarding to see Molly "get her man." But unlikely.

They could always hook her up with a new man. All "Tom" style. That would work for me.

BTW, I myself happen to be primarrily aesexual. Which is why I suppose I want them to just do it,and have it done. They've obviously written it in. It's there. The only way to get rid of it is to do it. That or have one of them die. How many ways are there to write away sexual tension that aren't far fetched? They've written it in so plainly that it can't just disolve away. No one would believe it.

When I say fun, I'm not just talking about sex. I'm talking about the whole creative process. Which includes the licence to add things that may not be there. Or perhaps take some things away. Canon is not LAW.
Character Analysis » Who would suit Sherlock in a relationship? » January 10, 2014 8:05 pm |
Yes. But I feel that at some point they are going to make up their own versions of these people. Take artistic liscence. Because canon is finite, I think they are going to have to make things up as they go along. Besides, as a writter, where is the fun of basically doing STRAIGHT sourse material? It would be easy, granted...but what would really be the point of writting at all? Just hand the actors the books, and call it a day? Nah. I think our boys want to have a bit of fun. Look at Gatiss. The League of Gentlemen? He's a guy who likes to have some fun. If ALL Sherlocks are the same...why bother?

Hello and welcome to the forum Scarlett! That semi-ghost town could do with more actual ghosts don't you think. Tim Burton would do a good job I think!
Hmm...Actual ghosts would "liven" this place up a bit, for sure. lol. (I"m sorry. I had to laugh at my own bad joke. If ya can't laugh at yourself, then you are in a world of hurt.)

Arrrrrrgh...I just realized something...I think they successfully mislead us....Think about it:
"Do you remember Red Beard?"
"I am not a child anymore, Mycroft!"
NOTHING in this says that Red Beard is in ANY way connected to Sherlock's childhood. Red Beard can simply be the name of one of Mycroft secret operation (involving CAM?), and Sherlock feels annoyed that Mycroft feels the need to remind him of the fact that said operation is going on. "Don't patronize me, I am not a child anymore!"
Thank you, verry much.
I think people may be reading TOO MUCH into it. .

I am actually quite happy to be fan of a series which doesn't feel the need to show sex and people spectacularly at it in every episode. It's refreshing.

I agree. I don't want to see it. Just imply it happened so the sexual tension is gone, and move along. I want them to do it just to have it done with.
