As far as making a point, I believe he is referring to curing Johns psychosomatic limp.
Plus he wants a sounding board - and the skull attracts too much attention.

My question is why does Sherlock insist on aggravating Donovan and Anderson?  He does so at every opportuity - especially Anderson.

It did kind of look like it was about to attack them though. It was a pretty vicious dog.

The poor dog (who in the very end, after it was killed looked like a perfectly norma rottweiler) has been exposed over and over to the gas.  If it can drive a person insane, what will it do to a dog?

Character Analysis » John vs Mycroft » June 13, 2013 8:16 pm

It seems to me, that John snipes at Mycroft whenever possible.  The bit in Belgravia where Mycroft says their hands are ties regardin Irene Adler, and Sherlock is "I don't applaud your choice of words -  treat her like royalty"  And John snarks "but not like she treats them"
(paraphrasing)

I just mentioned this is the 'mistakes' thread for the episode, but it bugs me that they got the info on John's CV so wrong in TBB. I find the little details in shows fascinating - in another life I'd have loved to work on props and location scouting for TV and film. But for the CV, it's not like they had to source it and try and find something as close to accurate as possible - someone on the production team created it from scratch, completely customisable... and got it wrong. It just seems such a bummer when so much attention goes in to these things most of the time.

The look I got at Dr. Watsons CV showed that he passed his first year in Med. School.  Hardly impressive. I can diagnose most everything on the list, and I'm a clinical laboratory scientist (Medical Technologist is what we were called not long ago).

A Scandal In Belgravia » Why? » May 30, 2013 6:52 pm

If Sherlock deletes all unnecessary data from his hard drive, why in the world would he know the airline schedule for the week?
Granted, John gave him the info needed with "double O seven" with the Bond night they had.

Character Analysis » Deducing the character of John Watson » May 30, 2013 3:36 am

I believe that Sherlock realizes at some point that he needs John.  They work out a "system" where if Sherlock tries to get info out of someone, he screws it up - using threats or some such, whereas, John can quietly talk to them, and get the info they need.
Also, John is often the one to mention something that leads Sherlock to the correct conclusion. The cabby talks to the victims....the vegetarian restaraunt with a bill for meat.....

I can't remember the exact wording...
"Oh, that's clever. Is it clever? why is it clever?"

"round and round the garden like a teddy bear"

Moriarty on the throne "No rush"

Sherlock spraying cleaner in CIA agents face, and head butting him "idiot"
"not good?" "bit not good"

General Sherlock Discussion » Voice-overing » May 30, 2013 2:30 am

Even if they do have to voice over - they have to exactly match movement with sound - not easy, and it can't fix any goofs, as it would be obvious when the face/voice are out of sync.

Character Analysis » Sherlock: "I don't care what people think." » May 22, 2013 12:59 am

If Sherlock only keeps important stuff in his "hard drive" why does he know the flight schedule of all planes leaviing Heathrow that week? .

It's fairly clear that he minds what others think when he stalks off in a sulk when John is examining the speckled lady and retorts that no one reads sherlocks blog as it talks about 240 different kinds of tobacco smoke.

additionally, anyone notice that he describes John as a "war hero" invalided home from Afaganistan,(in the cab going to the lady in pink crime scene_ then later tells him "there are no heros".?

I've not gone through all 136 pages of this thread, but....when I say "ok" it sounds either like Mollys when Sherlock totally doesn't get that she's asking him out, but just tells her "black, 2 sugars, I'll be in the lab upstairs" (ASiP)   Or when John asks him if he's wearing any pants at Buckingham Palace.

(I do love the extra long look John gives Sherlocks groin area before asking the question).

The Reichenbach Fall » Funniest Moment in The Reichenbach Fall » May 21, 2013 3:58 pm

I *just caught this bit - John has found out Mrs, Hudson is ok, realizes Sherlock isn't, takes a cab from someone saying "Police" mumbling "sort of"   I'd never properly heard the "sort of" comment before.

The Reichenbach Fall » Funniest Moment in The Reichenbach Fall » May 21, 2013 3:38 pm

There is a split second when Sherlock is starting his escape from the police - The look on Lestrads face when Sherlock tells everyone to get on their knees.

Of course Lestrad gives them a bit of a head start before telling the police to go after them.

The Reichenbach Fall » A few questions » May 21, 2013 1:47 pm

Where did Moriarty get the cape when he was sitting on the throne with the crown jewels?  It wasn't in the case that I could see.

Character Analysis » Sherlock's habits » May 17, 2013 12:23 pm

He does take a mince pie from Mrs. Hudsons fridge and eat it (speaking with his mouth full!) while getting The Womans phone from her.

Hi Fanny -  I'm just as new as you are
I'm very sorry for your loss.

Are you also a Dr. Who fan?  That would make you a SuperWhoLockian

Introductions Please... » Hello » May 16, 2013 6:33 pm

Im butterfly grl, (I have issues with giving out personal info)
My daughter got me into Sherlock a couple of months ago, and now I fangirl as bad as she does, if not worse.
One of my cats also adores Sherlock.  It's the only time I sit still in my chair long enough for him to take a solid nap.

I'm curious as to how they illuminate Sherlocks eyes when he is "using" microscopes. If the diaphragm is open so far that that amount of light is coming through the optitics, you'd be blinded.

There is a scene in the flat where it's not even turned on.  That is the only time he is close enough to the optics that he'd be able to actually see what is on the slide.

Frankly, the science is rubbish.  I can certainly forgive that for the sheer genious of the show.
(and, yeah, I use microscopes daily at work).
