Yeah, I'm annoyed as hell that I won't be able to see this and, much as I adore His Nibs, I'm not buying into Sky!  Do Sky ever release their series on DVD?

Oh, every time I still have tears.  When they turn Sherlock over and John groans and collapses, that's when the tears start; and they run down my face during John's speech at the graveside, especially when he says, "No, please, there’s just one more thing, mate, one more thing ..."

*sniffles*

The more I look at them, the more convinced I am that the new ones - at least TRF and TSOT - are fakes.  If they're genuine - in my opinion only, of course - they prove that Steve Thompson is a truly dreadful writer.  The scene in TRF at Bart's when Sherlock's babbling on about how he loves his friends makes my teeth itch.  It's as if Thompson has never seen an episode nor listened to his bosses about the character of Sherlock.  It was always my understanding that Mofftiss rewrote parts of TRF - if this truly was an early draft, then it's not surprising in the least.

Ditto with TSOT - wasn't it established that Thompson was meant to write that episode alone but was struggling so much with the script that Moffat and Gatiss pitched in to help and that's why all three of their names appeared on the opening credits?  In particular, the bit where Mary's apparently enjoying Sherlock squirming about Sholto is hideous.  As for "Watters," well, excuse me while I throw up a little in my mouth.

I really hope these are fakes.  If they're not, and in light of how awful parts of them are, I'm starting to believe the speculation that Thompson has incriminating photos of Moffat and that's why Steven has to keep employing him!

Also there's 'proof' of Sherlock's former address in the BBC series when John finds Mary's DVD stabbed into the mantelpiece:



In case you're not good at reading upside down, the address on the envelope propped up against the wall reads: S. Holmes, 156 Montaguest, London.  Obviously "Montaguest" should be "Montague St".
Normally I would slap the production team for the sloppy typing but on this one occasion I'm convinced they did it deliberately as a sort of Easter Egg for observant viewers.  Sadly I was not an observant viewer - someone on Tumblr blogged it before I realised it was there!

I'm not sure whether there have been conversations here about the new Terms and Conditions for Livejournal which have caused so much rightful controversy.  In any case, in an attempt to show some moral support for those directly affected, I have migrated all the transcripts and all my other entries from my LJ blog over to Dreamwidth.  This also gives the transcripts in particular a second and safer home in the event of LJ crashing and burning.

I'll probably only do updates to the transcripts on Dreamwidth in future.  If you use the transcripts for writing fanfic and meta and are kind enough to provide a link back, the new address is:

I was going to leave this for a few weeks because I’ll probably be tweaking the transcripts for ages yet, but decided to do it now as a sort of early Valentine gift to the few members of the fandom who still might be interested in such a thing.

So all the transcripts - from A Study in Pink (both the broadcast version and the pilot), all the way through Many Happy Returns and the Special, right the way up to and including The Final Problem - are now downloadable as Word or PDF files.

There’s a file of all the transcripts in their entirety; a file of just the speaker and spoken words in every episode; and a file giving all the words spoken by 27 individual characters listed together, e.g. every line spoken in all episodes by Mycroft, or by John, or by Mrs Hudson etc.

And for those people who have already got heavily annotated/edited earlier versions of the transcripts, there are also Season 4 only versions of the full transcripts and of the speakers and spoken words.
