You're right.     I personally love all minor characters on "Sherlock" and I don't think that a trio can't be a good thing. But for me, the ideal thing with "Sherlock" will always be an ensemble show with the relationship of John and Sherlock in the middle. That's just something I enjoy very much.  That doesn't mean that it has to be this way all the time, but in the end, in the very end of the show, I want John and Sherlock to be back an 221b sitting at the fire place and waiting for clients. That'll always be my "goal" when watching the show. That's why everything, that seems to lead away from this makes me kind of anxious.  But not in a  very serious way.  I just like to talk about these things, freak out a little and enjoy the show just as it is.

Can I make your words mine? Because it sum up my rambling thoughts,in a less bitter way.

Maybe, but most of us thought that she wouldn't survive series 3 and she did. My guess is that if she does go (and I hope she does) it will be something to do with a reveal about her true identity. I just don't believe that her past went up in smoke with that memory stick.

I think that’s what he/the writers meant.
 
As in, after you left and hurt me, I looked for someone who wasn’t like you [to not risk being hurt again].
As in, John ultimately saw Sherlock as a life partner. In whichever way that could be.
