Not sure, but I think Sherlock uses another verbal tense
At least, that's what I hear (you know, I'm almost a hearing impaired)

Yeeeeah, I corrected it
I'm not really hearing impaired (bad bussiness for a musician, though it worked for Divine Ludwig, who knows) but I have some trouble yet when it comes to understanding people talking fast or with some kind of accent. So, I really, really, really hear "I took..." but now I think it's probably because Benedict uses his deepest voice when saying that and mumbles a bit so... as I said, I'm like a hearing impaired in this case

It is correct. The phrase, used correctly, is 'to takethe precaution of... ' in this example.

Davina, thanks. I just thought he said "I took the precaution..." but now I've listened carefully to it again and I think he says "I take the precaution...". Anyway, Benedict, if you ever read this, please try to vocalize for the sake of your loving Spanish fans
