Re: Golden Globes 2013

Obviously there is something missing in translating that table from Wiki.
2010/11 - Benedict Cumberbatch - nominated for his role as Sherlock in the first series - 5 nominations resulting in 2 awards-                  Yeah that's pretty sad , very tragic huh?

2012/13 - Benedict Cumberbatch - nominated for his rolse as Sherlock in the second series - 7 nominations resulting in 4 awards -   Pitiful really, he's obviously all washed up!

He really hasn't been in the industry for THAT long to expect the success he has. I would imagine he is grateful that he has achieved these things. Yet the fanbase scream everytime he doesn't win.
Costner is a bloody good actor, fakes do not survive in Hollywood. As far as this current series goes, I think there have been 3 awards where Ben comes up against Costner; the score is 2 - 1 in favour of Costner, so don't get so carried away.
I'm actually halfway through watching Hatfields & McCoys now. I detest the guns but the history is the theme I am interested in here. Funniest part is, I really don't know the other actors all that well, lol. So if nothing else I only have 'Costner bias' to chew on, lol.

Mycroft’s popularity doesn’t surprise me at all. He is, after all, incredibly beautiful, clever and well-dressed. And beautiful. Did I mention that?

Re: Golden Globes 2013

As an actor he is probably amazed that he is lucky enough to have such a steady stream of quality roles. For any genuinely talented actor, and Kevin Costner is also such, the work is the thing.

True. Pretty sad.
You're right. Benedict Cumerbatch is a great actor who has already achieved a lot in his life.
I cannot understand the hatred towards Kevin Costner. He deserved the award and it's not as if Benedict hasn't won any award yet.

Re: Golden Globes 2013

I didn't hate Kevin Costner in general, how could I don't know him! It was just an expression of my frustration. (Not that it is a surprise that Benedict didn't win the Globe.) He was just at the wrong place at the wrong time! I would have post the same if Bugs Bunny would have won the award.
Although I must admit that Kevin Costner doesn't play a role in my film universe, but I haven't seen "Hatfield and McCoys" I'm sure it is utterly brilliant.

Re: Golden Globes 2013

Mary, I think nobody here hates Kevin Costner except for the famous 5 minutes when you are really disappointed about something...
So: Nothing I would take seriously :-)

Actually I don't take that too serious.
I just dramatized. Well, that's me.

Re: Golden Globes 2013

Yes, I heard about this award that will forever remain 'just a nomination'. But you know, Benedict will have other opportunities to win - because he is awesome, and at some point, awards will just come his way I suppose Kevin Costner deserved this one But still, even if one loves the guy (but not quit as much as one loves Benedict) one can still hate him like you 'hate the 'best friend that steals your cookies from your lunchbox'  The five minute hate, as Harriet said. Don't you ever get that feeling when you want two people to win at the same time? I felt that way when Chris Colfer and Jim Parsons were nominated for the same award (People's Choice 2013).

Re: Golden Globes 2013

Oh, of course!  With my last comment, don't get me wrong... I know he's not in it for the awards, and the 'recognition' from people loving his work and getting better parts is the main thing, and Kevin Costner really is great!  The minor disappointment was only from getting so many nominations, especially for Sherlock, but not winning very many major ones... especially after Martin and Andrew awesomely already got their BAFTAs!

Re: Golden Globes 2013

I haven't seen the Hatfield's and I think Costner is okay, but I can see from his win and the other list of winners that the voters went straight down the party line and every single winner was predictable. From a nice crop of nominees to the same old winners. The Oscars do that, so that's why I was hoping for a little more orginality and thought from the Globes. My bad.

Indeed, that is so strange. Martin is great, but Benedict just blows you away sometimes. I'm surprised he hasn't won a BAFTA yet.

He actually deserved one as early as 2004 for "Hawking".

And yes, Hawking!  You should think he deserved an award for that. That was good acting.

Re: Golden Globes 2013

I have three things to say about the awards:
1. Benedict was quite charming in the red carpet interview I saw (can't find the link now). He was totally starstruck by other attendees. He almost left his own interview to go see Adele.
2. George Clooney knows how to wear a tuxedo.
3. Tina Fey and Amy Poehler rock!

Re: Golden Globes 2013

I saw the opening dialogue of Tina and Amy yesterday, very funny. I liked the comments about James Cameron and porn.

Adele speech was so lovely, she's very real. That's very refreshing.

NBC posted all categories on NBC yt channel if someone is interested. I recorded it and will watch the whole thing next weekend.

There was a tumblr saying:
"I wonder if Benedict Cumberbatch was excited to see Adele because he loves her music, or because she has a baby that he can take pictures with."
