Hello Caroll, welcome !

I have read "O Xangô de Baker Street" (in French "Elémentaire ma chère Sarah") but it was a long time ago and i can't remember precisely the story. But i remember i had a lot of fun with, it was very funny.

Oh, TTT, Caroll and I were just talking about it. I read it in Portuguese several years ago, and have been thinking of re-reading it lately. I think I put it on a book recommendation list somewhere on this forum. Maybe if a few more people read it we can get a discussion thread going.

... but there may be some new players now. It’s okay. The East Wind takes us all in the end.

I read this book a long time ago now i can't really remember the story. Well i remember a thing it's Sherlock Holmes was better to disguise himself than making deductions in this book and *spoiler* dancing with the captain of a boat or something like that. lol

Re: Say hi! Would you do that, just for me?

Skitty,

The book is O Xango de Baker Street by Jô Soares (male). Apparently, the English version is called "A Samba for Sherlock." Here's a wikipedia link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Samba_for_Sherlock. I don't know how good the translation is; I read it in the original Portuguese.

The book is a comical adaptation in which Sherlock goes to Brazil. As I recall, he is actually kind of a bumbler and misses really obvious clues. Various iconic Brazilian things appear in humorous ways. Now that I have recently read the canon, I think I'll reread this book to see if I still find it amusing.

Book club, anyone?

(Right now I'm workiing on House of Silk, a newer, more authentic adaptation by A. Horowitz. Anyone else reading It?)

Hi veecee. There is a thread on The House of Silk in The Game is On the section on Sherlock stories, poems and books.

Don't make people into heroes John. Heroes don't exist and if they did I wouldn't be one of them.
