What strikes me about these two pics, one from HLV and one from the trailer, is that he seems to be at a morgue again. Look at the background. It looks almost identical, and even if it's not the same morgue, I'd say it definitely is a morgue. So for me that only leaves two possibilities: Either he's hallucinating (or in his MP, boringboringboring...) or someone is dead.

Or maybe someone supposed to be dead is not dead
If a coffin was to be opened for forensics , would they do it in the morgue?

I seem to remember from crime shows that they erect a tent on the cemetery and open the coffin there. Depending on what they find, they probably bring the remains to a morgue to have them analysed.

Maybe the body isn't what or whom he expected.
Susi, you might be right about there being no character death - we've been led into it so much that it would make sense to defy expectations by not having one!

Yes. And by now I am also becoming a bit skeptical about all this darkness talk. Sure, there will be heartbreak and tears as always, it is part of the show, but all this talk about devastating and darker than ever could also be an attempt of raising and refuting expectations.
Thinking of what they said about S3 - Sherlock having emotionally regressed (which was blatantly untrue, quite the contrary) and Mary not coming between them (untrue as well) I would not be surprised if S4 was not significantly darker than the other series. Or it will be so shattering that I will need heaps of tissues and lots of alcohol to get through it. The readiness is all.

I have just always thought in terms of Mary and baby...but then there is Sherrinford, too.

I think I missed something. Why are we sure that there will be a character called Sherrinford?

Personally, I believe this man we see in a trailer:
is not Sherlock. The face doesn´t match Sherlock at all.
I have a theory this is the "orher one", Sherlock´s evil twin. And since Sherrinford was the original name ACD intended for Sherlock, the name of this character could be Sherrinford too.
But it´s just a speculation and it can turn to be incorect, of course.

Still, I wonder about the photograph of Mary dressed in black that was taken in the time when car crash /coffin scene was filmed.
Or was it just a coincidence? AA simply came to the set wearing the black jacket?

Well, she has worn black in two crucial scenes so far, both times not because she was in mourning.

Yeah that 'Sherlock' send off to me too. Maybe undercover but even then... it doesn't feel right

Is the car crash maybe the reason Molly seems to be baby sitting.

Sorry, I'm just musing on the 'back' theme with all the back views...could just have been a simple play on ' Sherlock is back'.
I always hoped it was a reference to Moriarty being backed.
But it possibly is just everybody's back story...
I do wonder if they are going to do a bit of a 'Rainman' and have Sherlock seemingly focused on the death of Redbeard, but this is to cover the loss of a brother.

And by brother, I take it you don't mean Mycroft!
Offline
Yes sorry, I should have been clear I mean the other brother.
