What strikes me about these two pics, one from HLV and one from the trailer, is that he seems to be at a morgue again. Look at the background. It looks almost identical, and even if it's not the same morgue, I'd say it definitely is a morgue. So for me that only leaves two possibilities: Either he's hallucinating (or in his MP, boringboringboring...) or someone is dead.

I seem to remember from crime shows that they erect a tent on the cemetery and open the coffin there. Depending on what they find, they probably bring the remains to a morgue to have them analysed. 

Yes. And by now I am also becoming a bit skeptical about all this darkness talk. Sure, there will be heartbreak and tears as always, it is part of the show, but all this talk about devastating and darker than ever could also be an attempt of raising and refuting expectations. 

Thinking of what they said about S3 - Sherlock having emotionally regressed (which was blatantly untrue, quite the contrary) and Mary not coming between them (untrue as well) I would not be surprised if S4 was not significantly darker than the other series. Or it will be so shattering that I will need heaps of tissues and lots of alcohol to get through it. The readiness is all.

Sorry, I'm just musing on the 'back' theme with all the back views...could just have been a simple play on ' Sherlock is back'. 
I always hoped it was a reference to Moriarty being backed.
But it possibly is just everybody's back story...
I do wonder if they are going to do a bit of a 'Rainman' and have Sherlock seemingly focused on the death of Redbeard, but this is to cover the loss of a brother.
