Re: Johnlock: The Official Debate

Even if Sherlock was attracted to Irene, that is not an argument agains Johnlock, is it?

Just wanted to clarify that, thanks.

Only that the attraction to Irene has been shown, whereas Johnlock hasn't.

Re: Johnlock: The Official Debate

This is your opinion. A lot of people see a lot of attraction there. Just saying.

Re: Johnlock: The Official Debate

Ok, the attraction to Irene had been acknowledged by the Sherlock team, Johnlock is refuted.

What I think has been shown towards Irene is intellectual attraction combined with an unwanted and confusing physical attraction.

What I think has been shown towards John is - to be a bit sappy - a deep trust, liking and romantic love. Not the in-your-face sexual attraction towards Irene, but the more slowly growing, deep attraction that is more lasting.

Re: Johnlock: The Official Debate

Sherlock and John refer to each other as best friends, I can go with that.

Re: Johnlock: The Official Debate

And they say they love each other and Sherlock is equated to the bride in TSOT. I can definitely live with that.

Re: Johnlock: The Official Debate

No: Mary is acknowledged as the bride, Sherlock as the best friend.

How can you proof that? Filming, scenes, colours, text?

Re: Johnlock: The Official Debate

I never said she's not acknowledged as bride, but if you pay attention to the best man speech and John asking Sherlock to be his best man they are pretty much the same level. And they express that they love each other.

Re: Johnlock: The Official Debate

Well John married Mary and calls Sherlock his best friend...he could just as easily have done it the other way round, if he so wished.

Re: Johnlock: The Official Debate

Well, that is by far not enough, bb, you see but don't observe. It's the oddest wedding ever. No love declaration, no vow between John and Mary, just between John and Sherlock.

Re: Johnlock: The Official Debate

Have you listened to the S3 commentary?
The team are gushing about the beautiful loving Xmas scene between the Watsons...
Ah well, I suppose John can continue making love to his wife.

It's just convenient that way round. Mary wouldn't like to be best friend, and Sherlock is struggling to be best man, how would he react to a marriage proposal?
The other way round would indeed make more sense to me, but if John wanted a real wedding plus a best friend, this was the way to go. Apart from the fact that Mary actually wants to marry John, but Sherlock? I don't think so...

Re: Johnlock: The Official Debate

The wedding is filmed the way it is because it's from Sherlock's POV. That's why the speech is so important, that's his task for the day.

I think that's because it's about John and Sherlock.  The rest of the wedding is kind of irrelevant.

(When talking about it, the aspect that fascinated Stephen Moffat was idea of Sherlock giving a best man's speech, certainly not the idea of John and Mary getting married).

Well, Mary is in a white dress, that's usually the way the bride is dressed at a wedding. She's also referred to as the bride.
