Metaphorically, I hope.

...and what a diversified round that will be...!

Again, I hope in views and not in punches.

Almost a bit too fast if you ask me.Indeed. He probably really wants to change the subject at this point - the question then just would be why. Also, he could have answered something like "Not my area, either", but he didn't. So what he actually says is that he doesn't have a boyfriend and that a girlfriend is out of the question. Nothing more, nothing less.
That's exactly what I notice each time I see it, too.

He says he is married to his work.

Which is a cliché often used as an excuse or a pretext. 1,790,000,000 results on Google.

Just saying ...
BTW I like to believe that the married-to-my-work attitide changed after spending time with John.

Well neither his marital nor his relationship staus have changed.
But certainly he gained his best friend and has been somewhat humanised.

Wow nice discussion all round. Really glad to find a place where active discussion is going on during long hiatuses. I'm a newbie here and I've kinda read this thread in one sitting. Johnlock is really stirring the pot in the Sherlock fandom isn't it? Two of the Johnlock threads are the most active one here. Anyways, to tell the truth I feel as the series is progressing instead of dwindling away the hint of romantic undercurrent between the leads is intensifying!

How so?

Nothing really new but a nice summary that says it all:

That is a pretty interesting post and at least, the person was polite unlike some others I have read. I don't see Sherlock and John being together on the show, but I don't deny the romantism in this show between these two. I just don't think of it in the way many do. Sherlock and John are both romantics in a way. John sees Sherlock as an brilliant man and I bet he looks up to him and admires that despite Sherlock's habits. Sherlock seems to admire John's loyalty and personality despite how he may judge John's ordinaryness. XDD

What might be the friendly, or bromancy, explanation of this sheet in John's Case File?
Sherlock carefully trims John's photo to enhance Leonardo's sketch of the perfect male proportions. I can't think of a single innocent explanation.

He handed the entire case file to Molly: Sherlock has no filters.

Oh! I mentioned that a couple of days ago and to me, I think it shows Sherlock's admiration of John, who is in Sherlock's mind the good man that he aspires to be. Yes, I know that the image is meant to be more of physical asethetics rather than morally ideal man, but in my view of Sherlock's character, Sherlock doesn't care about someone's physical feature and yet, the ideal man to Sherlock is John because John is the good man.

Yes the mind and spirit are more important to Sherlock than the physical.
But he still thinks John has a fine bum.

Just discovered something nice on tumblr. You all know the "meretricious" and "a happy new year" joke from TGG. But did you know the source? The gay writer and critic Gore Vidal (last paragraph).

Susi@Vidal...interesting and amusing origins to the joke .
@Johns face on Vetruvian Man pic....it's often thought Leonardo based that image on his young lover Salai. Some of his sketches of male nudes are quite erotic.
