How exactly does the chat work? It doesn't work for me, but I really don't know if it's me, my computer settings, or sth else. Maybe somebody has got the same problem, or maybe you have suggestions what to do?

I always get the "page not found" error. Via google cache or by directly typing the URL I can usually open the start page, sometimes I can open seperate chatrooms then, just to get another error message that "the viewers quota for this chat room has been exceeded" ...when I am apparently the only one in the chat.
Help?

Whisky, in the chat yesterday we agreed on starting to watch the first two episodes at around 6pm. Some of us will arrive a bit later than 2pm, so we will have some time to get to know each other a little bit, chat and then sit down to watch episodes 1 and 2.
I think tobe will bring the first two episodes with her. ;-)

oh, well, and here I sit worrying... ;) I might just stop that and hug you all instead... that sounds amazing

oh good, so it's really happening... I'm very happy now

I'm neither teenager nor "oldie" ... but this is my first meeting like this (via a forum), and I'm rather shy with new people... but I trust that Sherlockians are very kind, welcoming people

The comfy TV room sounds even better than a conference room. great!!

you'll keep everybody up-to-date here? because sometimes I'm offline for a few days... don't want to miss sth important

now, the important stuff: S3E1 and S3E2... ;)
I've asked an english (?) member somewhere in this forum if he/she could record the episodes and send them via post/mail to me in Germany... I have to find that thread again...
I still think that's a better option than record from streaming, because british TV will be more realiable I think... I cannot even begin to think how many will try to stream the episodes...
Maybe we could all ask around, if maybe some very kind lovely members from the UK could dvd-record the episodes and send them to us? (I do think that's quite legal, and I am 100percent sure we would all buy the dvds anyway later...)

And it would be AMAZING if we could watch S3E1 and S3E2 together before S3E3!!! Because I cannot see right now how I would be able to watch them otherwise... and it would be so cool to watch the episodes in one go (well, with breaks for food and nerves of course :D ) and with devoted fans!!
We could maybe watch the other two episodes in the afternoon (arriving 2pm-ish at the hotel?) and then grab food and settle down for the final... oh god, no, I just can't think "final"... well, THE episode, you know :D

uh, sorry, that was a lot of talking

Oh GOD. I just found the trailer... I'm late, right? ...well... I don't really know what to... WAHHHHHHHHHHHH... ahm, say. OH MY GOD !!!!! bounce bounce bounce. I cannot write much I have to rewatch that another ten times...

ok. actually I didn't understand a few words in dialogue. Maybe it's because I can't focus on foreign language right now - to excited!! - I don't know... maybe someone could put some of the dialogue down, that would be kind to no ends... <3  It's just the part with the "mattered most" I don't understand, what's said right before that?

and what Sherlock said about London... beautiful
and Mycroft, grrrr that smile is so uncalled for

God, I can't breathe. I was so so so afraid it might not be a good series... but this, this is... more than I expected. better. just BRILLIANT!!!!!!! <3
god I am so relieved. and happy. and ... asfldjaslgkdhas.
*off to watch that again and again and again*

Okay, if it's 64,70 Euros for a DOUBLE room, I'm joining the hotel lot,too ;)
Is that "all in", breakfast etc? Or is there more expenses I would have to consider? (I only have been at hotels few times, and one was all-in, and one had breakfast seperately...so I really don't know)
I'm going to write a PM to you too, gently69.
Thanks for being so enthusiastic to get things going

Edit: oh, too tired to read, breakfast included, alright alright... maybe I should sleep now instead watching TRF for the xxx time... god, does anyone count anymore? ;)

Oh new vocabulary, didn't know "dubbing" so far, I always assumed it's just called synchronization. Ha, great.

Interesting thoughts
Well, "I owe you a fall" ... I liked the german translation because I've always understood it more as a promise for a further case (forcing s.o. to commit suicide is a crime anyway, so that works). I would have preferred the wording "Ich schulde Ihnen ein Verbrechen" though (I owe you a crime/case).
I don't even hear the implication of a real fall (as in falling down) in the German version though. I think the word would have been "Sturz" then. I don't think we would use "einen Fall" for falling off a building.

With the translation, I agree it's more in the general feeling of the episodes, rather than actual mistakes like twisting the meaning.

I do like the "Sie" for the "work relationship" that Sherlock and John have in the beginning. John helping Sherlock out as the doctor he is, because Sherlock needs him as such. It's not about friendship then... not yet, of course.
Also, not all flatmates become friends, and it would be right to continue formal if they're just sharing because of money saving.
But, as we all know, it's not just work, and not just sharing a flat. So, I would have preferred a change as soon as John isn't only colleague or flatmate, but also friend. Latest when John shoots the cabbie - I wouldn't say "Sie" to address my friends grave, but I also wouldn't say "Sie" to someone who kills only to save me.

And first names and formal "Sie" is something I really don't know from everyday life. I think we used it in school for the last two years, to get used to formality, but with first names because teachers knew us already. But I cannot think of any other situation.

But the "Sie" also annoys me when Sherlock and Moriarty meet. It sounds alright for the first interactions, but in the rooftop scene, it feels just wrong. "You are me" feels far more personal than "Sie sind ich".

I wonder about chemistry. I don't know how

Let me know if you''re interested in sharing a nice cheap room at a hostel I flinched a bit at the hotel prices, too... especially since I'll already have to spend probably some hundred Euro for the train ride to Köln

Sharing would be fine. We could check who else would prefer a hostel, then book together?

I also don't think I'll sleep much. Probably I will be shellshocked for at least one hour, then I need another hour for overwhelming happiness   then another for dealing with the prospect of waiting another endless years for MORE... well, and then there's need for discussion...

How are you going to watch the other episodes? Will you all have seen them until the meeting?

How far is Ratingen from Düsseldorf main station?

Also, thank you gently69 for inquiering about the hotel, I hope they answer soon!

Something about Reichenbach theories. I was looking for like a summary of most of the usual theories, and thought a forum might be the place, rather than tumblr pages, as I was craving for discussion rather than just sharing and comparing theories... well, and then google gave me this forum. I started reading, continued reading for the whole night, went to bed early in the morning with a smile... the next day I registered. It just felt like the place I've always been looking for... I always assumed there must be the one place where all the other Sherlock obsessed people dwelled... and then I found it, end of story ;)

Whoppa! That's one night, double room, right? Apparently, I underestimated hotel prices.
Any chance I can just join you as a guest for watching? ;)
I would then leave afterwards to rest my sherlocked head in a noisy crowded hostel somewhere with all the other poor students

I'm also not sure about W-Lan... just imagine it doesn't work properly... 5 minutes into the film, and then a breakdown... that would kill me for sure!! ;)

I have no idea yet what I am doing on the 12th, but count me in anyway, I'll do (nearly) ANYthing to be part of this :D

As for the location: maybe we could check which possibilities we've got for TV reception, and then see where it's easiest for everybody to go to? Like a vote? NRW isn't that small, either ;)

About the room size... what about hotel conference rooms or sth like that, maybe with TV? Aren't there such rooms? Maybe we could afford one for 2 hours. Or use a beamer ;)

How I wish I had been in London to see that...

I love the way they play with us... driving around with a car just to announce an airdate!! It's brilliant, and yet, a little bit scary too... what will they have to do for series 4?? ;)

And a little voice in my head keeps talking... series 3 might be bad and dull and... god, I am actually afraid my expectations might not be met... I'm trying so hard not to have any... but how to do that after such a long time, with all the lovely spoilers, ...?!?

my shock blanket isn't orange, maybe that's why it doesn't seem to work properly...
I won't be able to watch on 1/1/2014 (no internet on holidays) but have to wait... again... while everybody else will be talking about it already... *sniff*

Awww but I like the trailer!! Excitement and impatience growing... come on, come on, airdate now, come on...
When I saw the "fanclub", I thought: well, that's us... and now I'm waiting for my mobile to beep and tell me either: sherlocklives OR the airdate (that would be so cool, couldn't they do that? some place to enter our numbers and then they send out a message to everybody at once?)
I'd love a proper trailer with Mary in it.

Only now getting back to this... thank you for your thoughts

Don't think Moriarty was really suicidal at the pool scene - he didn't HAVE to answer that phone, he chose to. It could have ended there if he had let it happen. But at this point, Moriarty is still intrigued by the game.

Moriarty declares Sherlock his equal in the rooftop scene - even more: Sherlock isn't like him but is him. (I get headaches from this choice of wording...) But for Sherlock, Moriarty is his adversary. Moriarty focuses on what they have in common. Sherlock focuses on the differences.

Even if Sherlock chose the other side, chose to share the angels side, he isn't one of them - and neither is Moriarty. But there is the difference between what you are and what you chose. It makes Sherlock a person John puts up with. John would argue that Sherlock was nothing like Moriarty. Because he can see that Sherlock makes different choices. But Moriarty can see that Sherlock could have been him, and is him, in a way - prepared to do anything. I think Sherlock is aware that Moriarty has a true point there.

On the rooftop, Moriarty isn't so keen on keeping their game going anymore as he was back at the pool. He could have called back the killers, could have continued with Sherlock... like he did at the pool scene. But he doesn't this time. He again chooses what to do - and this time he chose to die. Sherlock told John that Moriarty is in prison because he chose to be there - and dying is also Moriartys choice. Somehow the "you are me" gives him enough reassurance to die.

So I do think Moriarty was looking for an equal not an adversary. And I don't think he thanks Sherlock because Sherlock has proven he can beat him. But more because he isn't better in fact, I think Moriarty thanks Sherlock exactly for being "him", not being more but also not being less. Quite a compliment - or insult, depending on the view.

Hm. So there never where any tickets for the public? (as in "non-members")
I mean, real tickets. Theoretically there could have been spare tickets to sell to the public on Nov 12th, but now there aren't any left (surprise!) and nobody knew that before? No I don't understand - why announce it like that then?
Well doesn't matter, I couldn't have gone anyway :D

What I am wondering though... as soon as the episodes air on television... is there anybody in Britain with a video/dvd recorder willing to record the episodes while they are aired... and who would send the recordings to me to Germany? XD That's not even illegal, is it, private use and such... ;) It just came to my mind yesterday and it felt like a BRILLIANT idea :D
Because who knows how long it might take for the german episodes to air... and maybe we won't be able to watch BBC on the very evenings when the series airs... and, well, that would be the greatest kindness I can imagine right now Oh God it might be obvious I am desperate? ;)
