Are people actually still hoping there will be a Series 5? Don't set yourself up for (even more) heartbreak my friends...
Short of kidnapping and forcing the writers to put together a new series I don't see how this can happen in the near future. They don't want to do what's already been done many times over, i.e . 'regular' adventures with middle-aged H&W so unless by some miracle they can think of another twist to the tale this is pure wishful thinking.
Do you have any interviews or articles to make your point?

Well, it's always possible that by the time Rosie needs her own bedroom that they'll still only be needing 2.

You know that I love the way you think. :-D

Like what?

I'd like to take a look at the episodes again to find what could be picked up again in S5. I mean, it looks (to some) like TFP brings all topics to an end. So what could happen in S5? A whole new set of topics? Or is there something that is not as resolved as we think?
I would rule out a return of the Moriarty story line but the "Redbeard - dog or boy" thing could be a topic.

Elementary started with them moving together by the end of the first episode if I really it correctly.
Just as in ASiP where they decide to discuss the rent at the end.
Only they did not move together because they were friends. I think Holmes' Father paid Watson to check if he relapses.
I think. I've only watched the first few episodes and then lost interest.

So it is not impossible that Eurus only made up Victor the boy. Why would she do that? Just because she can? It makes her look even more cruel. To me it is more believable that Sherlock made up Eurus, i.e. that she is part of himself.
Let´s not forget that Sherrinford, the facility containing Eurus together with her deadly games, was in Canon the original name for Sherlock himself. The man is that building, so to say.
I would love them to go thete in S5. Thst would be really really clever writing :-)

By saving Eurus who would be a part of himself Sherlock would save himself from loneliness.

As for Victor being Canon - well, he is but there is no similarity whatsoever between Canon Victor and TFP Victor apart from him being Sherlock's friend. From Moran in TEH we know that Mofftiss sometimes use names for a completely different character. And I think that even for Mofftiss it would be unusual (if not bad taste) to have a child murdered without any further reference to this fact. We do not get anything, not even after John found the skull in the well.
I like that idea too. He would basically save himself at the end of TFP.

I love that thought, nakahara. That would be in character for Eurus.

I think it's difficult to be sure without knowing when the writers planned what.
I think that what the writers had decided and when is not the most pressing concern here. I mean we are not playing "Guess their intentions" but we take a text and see what we can make of it.
Edit: Oops, forgot the quote. Sorry.

I just realised that Sherlock and Eurus are the only ones who ever talk about Victor Trevor. Neither Mycroft, nor their parents or John or the police or anyone else. A little boy died and no one thinks it necessary to even mention this. Always provided, of course, that anything of all this is real. Which I do not think it is. I would really like to hear an explanation in case the whole Victor scenario was real. Why is the end so hurried? Why is a dead little boy never mentioned by anyone save Sherlock and Eurus?
I never realised that. I thought Mycroft was talking about him too, but he only hinted at Redbeard being important.
A very good point. Considering the irreal atmosphere of "The Final Problem" and the emphasis on Redbeard being a dog in S3, I am not all that convinced that Victor ever was real, tbh.
Like Mycroft really hinted at a dog in S3?

My problem is this. I think there is still a lot to discuss but whenever I give it a try, I mostly get answers like "I am satisfied", "The show is over", "Everything has been explained" or "This is just bad storytelling" (from the disappointed). This can be quite discouraging.
Me too. Maybe those who think there is nothing left to discuss could state it only once per discussion thread so the rest can engage in a discussion anyway. :-)

If people used the same terms to ran about Trump I would also complain. It is not a matter of what is discussed but of how.
