Character Analysis » Sherlock OCD? » June 17, 2013 6:29 pm

^ I tend to believe his mind is very neatly arranged. Remember the Mind Palace? :o)

Also I don't think Sherlock has OCD.
Perhaps the living room (and the kitchen as well) are looking untidy most of the time, but I believe he knows exactly where to find each thing, if he needs it, because in his eyes it's in order. Piled up.

Another fictional character - Phileas Fogg from *Around the World in Eighty Days* - kept his clothing numbered and listed to wear them regularly, depending on the season. Not to mention his other quirks. ;o)

You're welcome. :o)
I have looked it up by now, the seven percent was mentioned in *The Sign of Four*.

The scenes I mentioned before in Sherlock, were so well done - the fiddling with the harpoon. :o))

Slipper & seven percent
Sorry, if somebody has mentioned this before in another thread.
After reading your (interesting) discussion here certain *Hounds* scenes stand up in my mind:

Sherlock was frantically searching some cigarettes after begging John unsuccessfully. Kneeling in front of the fireplace he throwed among other things a slipper away.
In the canon Holmes used a Persian slipper to keep his pipe tobacco.

Mrs. Hudson offered him a cup of tea to calm down and Sherlock replied he needed something stronger. 7 % stronger.
In the canon Holmes used a seven percent cocaine solution for injection.

Tiny little snippets as a tribute to the original, I think - and maybe some hints. ;o)

^ Oh, the lisp. :o)

This makes me laugh every time I see it:
John: This is your living, Sherlock. Not 240 different types of tobacco ash.
Sherlock: 243. (turns on the burner and goes away)

Maybe some of you have seen it already: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3nxukaAUqHQ
Every time I'm in desperate need of a giggle I put this on. :o))

Thank you all. :o)
I'm sure, it's going to be a good time on the sherlockian ship... board I should say. ;o)

@Mattlocked: Okay, then. ;o)
@Schmiezi: I was born and raised in lovely Rhinehessen, but for now I'm stranded here in North Hesse.

That's so nice you like Clarke, too. :o) He was not the best character developer, but his scientific background and marvellous imagination allowed him to write in great depth about the technical and astronomical details, which makes his fiction so real and achievable.

Uh oh, sorry. :o) I could ramble about this all day long. ;o) What's your favourite Clarke story? Mine is the Rama series.

There are already so many great quotes here and a lot of them are my favourites, too. :o)
This has not been mentioned before, I think (from The Hounds of Baskerville):

John: That's an order, Corporal.
...
Sherlock: <smirks> ... Nice touch.
John: Haven't pulled rank in ages.
Sherlock: Enjoy it?
John: Oh, yeah.

Oh, and this:

Sherlock: ... Now shut up and smoke.

Sherlock: ... Thank you for smoking.

And this:

Sherlock: Well, that was tedious!
John: You went on the tube like that?
Sherlock: None of the cabs would take me.
...
Sherlock: Nothing?
John: ...
Sherlock: Nothing of importance! Oh god! John, I need some. Get me some!
John: No.
Sherlock: Get me some!
John: No! Cold turkey. We agreed. No matter what. Anyway, you've paid everyone off, remember? No one within a two mile radius will sell you any.
Sherlock: Stupid idea! Whose idea was that?

:o))

Thank you everyone for your warm welcome. This has pleased me very much. :o)

@Merry: Glad you like my avatar. :o) This is such a heroic pose and I couldn't resist using it. In fact, there are so many great shots in every single episode, making it really hard to pick one especially.

@all: Please, if there is any ridiculous mistake or misunderstanding in my posts regarding my english, feel free to correct or ask me about it. :o)

Have a nice weekend!

Hello to the board, the members and the Sherlockians. :o)
I'm looking forward to participate in some discussions, opinions and views of our favorite piece.

The Arthur C. Doyle stories were a favorite of mine for many years and I have been thrilled on the spot with the series.

As you can see in my signature, there is another Arthur C. I quite like. :o)

If you have any questions, don't hesitate. :o)
