I have no words to describe how happy I am to have found people as obsessed with (insignificant) details as I am. So, as requested, a caption of Sherlock's wardrobe.

Sorry to disagree. I work in one of the largest defence companies worldwide and security is so strict that you cannot plug any device (eg USB) neither extract information from the system without firing alarms. And these are security measures in a corporation. It is not realistic MI6 cannot replicate these basic protocols, specially with that sort of information. Ridiculous.

From what you wrote I deduce you work for a private company. Sadly private companies usually are much more efficient/careful that many governmental services. It is possible for governmental employees to walk out carrying secret or sensitive information. I don't doubt that where you work there are many security measures in place but it's not the case everywhere, the WikiLeaks affair being a proof of that.
Maybe Andrew West just put the info in the USB key to hand it to his boss (or maybe he received from his boss) and then he put the USB key in his shirt pocket and forgot about it until he was in the bar. It's improbable but not impossible.
And at the end Sherlock is a piece of fiction whose main objective is entertaining the audience. We are supposed accept everything that happens as true (it's true in that verse) and enjoy. Of course we can have fun pointing the mistakes or the inconsistency but no TV show is meant to be a 100% reflection of reality.

3. Watch the shot cabbie lying on the floor in a puddle of black blood. When Sherlock screams: "The name..now...!" the blood has miraculously vanished.
I screencapped both monents and matched the tiles under the cabbie and, as someone suggested, he moved. The blood bellow his arms is blocked from view by Sherlock's shadow/body and the cabbie's head is on the larger pool of blood.

Yeah, I also noticed that the victims took 2 pills in a vial, and that when he "plays" with Sherlock it's only one pill. Maybe there is no game, maybe he just forces them to take it at gunpoint. Kind of dull but there you go...
I noticed the same thing too... I think he plays a different game with Sherlock or they just made a mistake while filming the beggining scenes.
I screencapped (is that a word?) the pills and in all cases I see 3 pills in the vial. Only the first man is showed putting the pill in his mouth (only one), but I assume it's the same in all the cases. Anyway, it looks like the cabbie cheated or changed his game for Sherlock... or they made a mistake filming the scenes.

Other Adaptations » Nerd Fight: Sherlock vs Elementary » August 7, 2013 8:01 pm |
Hello!
I finished watching the first season of Elementary last week because it airs a couple months behind in South America and I didn't care enough to dowload it. I liked it overall. I think the second half of the season was better (meaning more fun) than the first half but the last two episodes ("The Woman" and "Heroine") were CRAP. I hated the way they used the whole Irene/Moriarty story. Terrible.
I think that the main problem in Elementary is the awful writing. It's unfair to compare a 3-episodes-every-2-years series with one that has to deliver 24 episodes a year but Elementary's stories are bad even compared with other procedural shows like Criminal Minds or The Mentalist. I can solve most of the cases so I can't imagine why it takes Sherlock so long to figure out who is the killer/criminal.
Also, for me, the Sherlock Holmes in Elementary is not "the" Sherlock Holmes. I mean, he might be a character inspired in Sherlock Holmes but he certainly isn't ACD's Holmes. Not even an updated version. I don't know if it's the right word but I think JLM's Sherlock is too likable to be the "real" Sherlock Holmes. Besides BC's incarnation I think the closest modern day version of Holmes I can think of is House MD's Gregory House. You may like him on TV but you wouldn't live with him. Not in a million years.
Despite everything said before, I do like JLM's character (even if he isn't the "real" Sherlock Holmes) and Lucy Liu's Watson. Thumbs up to the show runners for not writing a romantic interest between them. I totally believe their relationship to be purely platonic. Some people think that there is no chemistry between JLM and LL but I disagree. I think there is a lot of chemistry between them (in fact that chemestry is what makes the show watchable) but there isn't sexual tension.
What I find quite interesting is that loads of Sherlock fans would love to see Sherlock and John romantically involved while e
Character Analysis » Sherlock and drug use? » August 7, 2013 4:54 pm |
Hello!
I think that Sherlock has used drugs before. The dialogue in SiP indicates so (IMHO):
LESTRADE: And you can’t withhold evidence. And I didn’t break into your flat.
SHERLOCK: Well, what do you call this then?
LESTRADE (looking round at his officers before looking back to Sherlock innocently): It’s a drugs bust.
JOHN: Seriously?! This guy, a junkie?! Have you met him?!
(Sherlock turns and walks closer to John, biting his lip nervously.)
SHERLOCK: John ...
JOHN (to Lestrade): I’m pretty sure you could search this flat all day, you wouldn’t find anything you could call recreational.
SHERLOCK: John, you probably want to shut up now.
JOHN: Yeah, but come on ...
(He looks into Sherlock’s eyes. Sherlock holds his gaze for a long moment and John realises how serious he’s looking.)
JOHN: No.
SHERLOCK: What?
JOHN: You?
SHERLOCK (angrily): Shut up!
=11px(Transcript taken from Ariane DeVere's blog)
I also believe that at some point of his life drugs were a problem from Sherlock, whether he was a real addict or not. Ergo Mycroft's and John's concern in SiB. Disgusting as it is, I don't think neither of them would be so worried about Sherlock smoking (cigarretes) again. Although, as beekeeper pointed out, it's all open to interpretation.

Haven't read the complete canon till date.
But I stay tuned to it...
I read all the stories for the first time when I was 11 or 12 (in Spanish) and since then I have read the stories separately many times, first in Spanish and then in English.
I own the same paper edition shown here but I haven't read paper books for years. I read exclusively in Kindle now and I recently finished re-reading the entire canon in order. I own the Kindle version of this edition:
