It never seems to be clear what the seasons are going by what the boys are wearing. John almost always has his jumper or jacket, Sherlock is rarely without his coat and gloves.
In Hounds - he wears the great coat on the moors, but is in shirtsleeves at breakfast at the end.
John, of course is always underdressed for the weather. (and buttons his shirts all the way up)?
A Study In Pink » Why was Sherlock looking for a flat mate at that point? » June 30, 2013 8:58 pm |
I think that Sherlock had been in the flat for a while - all his books are on shelves, his equipment is scattered throughout - but it stays that way, so it doesn't look like it was just moved in.
I don't believe Mycroft had anything to do with John being chosen as a flat mate - but it is possible that he had vetted some other possible people - and they didn't pass the test about spying on Sherlock for money.
Although, I don't believe Mycroft would have chosen John - He'd prefer someone who fell into line more easily - it's clear that he and John will never be friendly together.

The Wall is not one of Pink Floyds better albums. And Brick is not one I'd put in the top 10 of their songs.
Sadly, the radio stations seem to think Brick is the only song ever put out by them.
Dark Side of the Moon is probably my fav album by Pink Floyd. My sisters were far more into it than I was.

when I was a teenager, my family wanted to get a new cat as a companion for our aged tom. We found a beautiful Himalayan looking cat at the shelter, and brought her home on a Sunday afternoon.
2 weeks later, we hadn't settled on a name yet, so my Mom declared We got her on a Sunday, today is Sunday, her name is Sunday. lol.
She lived to 21.

The Blind Banker » John is left handed » June 30, 2013 1:06 am |
While John and Martin are left handed - I'm afraid we can't blame them for driving on the left on John, as Martin has never learned to drive.
*How expensive was that cab ride out to the hikers meadow anyway? At least he didn't need to pay return fare.

selected songs from Dr. Horribles Sing along Blog.
but not on any media - they're just stuck in my head from the mix cd that plays constantly in the car.

I love tuxedo cats. I thought Ratio was an only cat until Fred arrived. Sweetie wants to be an only dog - no cats allowed - if I'm petting one, or if she's lying down and they're in line of sight. Otherwise, cats are fine.
My ex loved his Mazda Miata. I really hated driving it through 3 full term pregnancies.
Random Sherlockiana » POLL: Which is your favorite episode? » June 30, 2013 12:37 am |
I vote for HoB - the sheer genius of making the Hound real - in all the other versions, it's not real - even canon. the insidiousness of the drug in the fog - the fog getting thicker and thicker the longer they're in Dewars Hollow.
I still think - and this is cruel of me - that when Sherlock tells John, I have only one friend - even though he does mean it - it's more manipulation than emotion.
The Science Of Deduction » The science of deduction is more elusive than I thought. » June 30, 2013 12:23 am |
I admit the websites are a bit disappointing. although a nice side bar to the series.
At least *some of Sherlocks work should be there. He was in a huff about no one reading his website, Johns being better (!), and took down the tobacco ash bit. but some of the science he uses to solve the cases would be nice. Although - they'd have to GET IT RIGHT!
(as a scientist myself, it annoys the bleep out of me when shows do things that are downright impossible for convenience sake, or laziness).
General Benedict Appreciation » Benedict's hair » June 29, 2013 11:53 pm |
I've read that it takes ages to get the Sherlock hair right each day. Sadly, the curls are not natural.
I do prefer the curls. They accentuate the cheekbones.

I'm currently owned by 2 cats, Ratio and Fred. And one dog - golden/pyranees cross named Sweetie Pi.
before the divorce from the manipulative bully with a narcicisstic personality disorder, all our animals were named mathmatically.
Polynomial - she was always hungry - what's wrong Poly? no meal?
yes, it started with a bad pun.
Then a lovely gentle tan dog entered our lives, Tangent.
A dilute calico (same ish colors as Poly) - Calculus
a pair of tiny identical gray tabbie cats - Sine and Cosine their personalities were 90 degrees apart.
An oversized Great Dane - Maxiumum.
I had two dreams in one night about a gray tabby kitten - the next day I saw what I swear was that kitten in an adoption window - his name was Ratio. clearly he was my cat.
He was best known as Brat until Fred came along. I'd decided that no matter what animal, sex or species came along next would be named Fred. It fits this cat so well.
Fred and Ratio became best buddies in about 8 hours. Now they play together so much, Ratio isn't so annoying. But he still curles up on my lap if I sit to watch a DVD. And Fred lays down on me full length as soon as I go to bed.
Sweetie Pi is just that. My big furry lump of a dog. Just what I was looking to adopt.

at the beach, I reccomend a leash. I know, children aren't dogs. However, the way I used the leashes was not to lead or drag a kid along, but to follow them, keeping them within reach. Or stopping them when they were going somewhere they couldn't go.
I totally sympathize with car sick in the back.

lots of snacks, lots of stopping at malls or the equivalent to get out and run. good supply of diapers,
someone sitting in the back seat with him - not so convenient for the parents, but better for him not to be isolated with only the back of mom and dads heads.
favorite toys of course, dvd player or the like for thomas the tank engine or other equally horrid for parents, favorite videos for toddlers.

How sad is it that I hear all these when I read them?
Mycroft: our hands are tied
Sherlock: She'd applaud your choice of words
John (snark) Treat her like royalty - though not the way she treats them.

Yay.
I have no back up at work today. I work in the lab at a local (to me) hospital, and we are *always supposed to have 2 people who can work in the blood bank at all times. Except Saturday afternoons when I'm the only blood banker on staff. It can be really slow (and I occasionally manage to get the net nanny to let me get on this forum), or it can go really south, really fast. Major trauma, Open Heart goes bad...
to make it worse, I left my phone at home, and can't run home to get it on lunch.
grr.
