Dear Besley, my sincere condolences.  I understand too well how life-changing it is when a loved one succumbs to the horrible insidious disease of depression.   Take good care of yourself.  May all the real love around you (including all the amazing love YOU've shared) and happy memories sustain you.

Happy Anniversary, old-timers!    And now, to me too!  Those 5 years just flew by.     Although often I've had limited time
to join in as I would have liked (tho' I do still love the games 😃)....

Lucky, as ever, to have found you all and I will be always grateful we have had this forum to celebrate what has been the best series ever televised!   so happy to be a small part of this warm, welcoming, supportive, and thoughtful community!
lots of love. -jen

I'm with you Whisky and others.. I will "always"
love Sherlock.  Can't help myself.

But is sad, and the end of an era..  I will forever
consider seasons 1 and 2 some of the best
television ever made, and am grateful for that.

It 's tough to point to an example of a series
finale that really touches on all the right points
and hits it out of the park anyway  (Breaking Bad,
maybe?), so I can forgive a bit.   I probably
just won't re-watch the comparative plot
sloppiness of this ending anytime soon.

Overall, though, (applause), still in love.

Off to my bee cottage in Sussex Downs now...
Anyone?

Great scene with Sherlock off his nut quoting Henry V.  Benedict let it all hang out.  In a good way.

Agreed!  One of my all time favorite scenes of the whole series!

Loved reading your interpretation, Tilly11.  Welcome!
Yes, new American regime, with Sherlock ending soon might
make  for some dark times ahead.  We must vigilent.

I like your idea of Sherlock as the only "normal" sibling.
It's a cross he's had to bear.

How did Eurus/Elizabeth pull off being invisible on their Chips adventure?

BTW, the U.S.Masterpiece Mystery broadcast as usual is again
frustrating.  Small edits, and audio blanking out selected
words, annoying.. ('tits' /'bullocks'/'bullsh#t'/'you
C#ck'/etc).  Also, they delay the closing music and end
credits, and display the Masterpiece logo.   Grrr.  Glad
there is also the online BBC Player option to watch
these episodes.

I like the red highlighted letters in the credits though.. spelling
out "Once more, unto the breach", and previous episode's
credits selling out "Six Napoleans".  Love that stuff. 😃

Looking forward to Sunday too.    But not looking forward to Monday,   when our (eternal?) wait for more Sherlock begins again.    Sigh.

Ahh,   fantastic  penultimate episode..   Someone get me a glass of water.  This one is filthy.

Once more unto the breach, indeed.

All that hiding in plain sight!  wow.   I especially loved the opening sequence before the
credits to set the tone back to what we've missed since the early seasons--
It has been there all along I expect.    Hiding also?
Mrs. Hudson's car.    Billy and Shezza.   Goodbye to Mary, in a good way.
Hello Sherrinford.    Hello again, John and Sherlock.   Chilling,  heart twisting stuff.

As far as TST is concerned I do think most of what we are seeing is "real."  But that we are seeing it from the point of an unreliable narrator.  I lean toward the idea that most of what we see in the episode is Sherlock relating the events to Ella in therapy.  This makes the most sense to me.

Exactly.   We may see a change in point-of-view once we get our canonical narrator back (John).

Just finished a 3rd viewing.   Feeling better about it now.

I just love these guys.   Can't wait to watch how they find their way back to each other.

John:      I want to be Gandalf.
