That sounds like quite an odyssey to get there! That's too bad that there was a confluence of problems/challenges. I hope the people who fainted are OK now. That does sound kind of expensive, though I suppose some concerts go for a lot more than that.

I guess because Sherlock was a while ago now, which I find hard to grasp at times. Series 4 came out in 2017, which doesn't sound like that long ago but it was 7 years ago!

That's cool that you got to see them live. I can't remember, did you go to one of these last year, too? Or did you just watch the pre-parties online?

Wiwibloggs posted the videos, so I've started taking a look at some of the ones you mentioned. "Doomsday Blue" isn't really my cup of tea, but she is an energetic performer.
"We Will Rave" kind of sounds to me like something from Dance Dance Revolution. Not really my favourite style.
I think I will look up another version of "Ulveham" because I'm not sure the audio quality of this performance is the best, but the song went in a direction I wasn't expecting.
Not sure about "The Tower" as a song yet but I think her voice is not bad, but it does sound off at times in this performance, as you mentioned.
I listened to "Mon Amour" and I noticed it was partly in French, then he seemed to switch to English near the end (I had trouble making out the lyrics, though). I like it when he sings in the higher notes. I think I will look up another version of this one, too.
"Rim Tim Tagi Dim" is kind of fun. I can see how this could get an audience excited and having fun.

I was thinking of checking it out. The reviews seem divisive, from what I've seen, with some people thinking it's great and some people thinking it's not at all. But I'm curious to see Andrew in the role (I've heard good things from friends about the movie version but I haven't had a chance to check it out yet). I was kind of disappointed the review in my newspaper didn't mention his portrayal Moriarty as one of his past roles, considering how the critic described his portrayal of Ripley, but I guess his Fleabag appearance is more well-known these days.

Yeah, I agree with you. I know a lot of people are already fans of a given act before the actual live performance, but there are always surprises that can affect who you think should win. I'd be curious to see if there's data available later about the proportion of votes that were early vs after all the performances are over. Because I'm sure there are others who would still vote after all the performances anyway.

I can definitely see how that term could be misread (oh boy). I wonder what that will be. Will we get to hear the Doctor sing? I guess we'll find out closer to the actual date.

I think a lot of streaming series are released at midnight on the date they are set to premiere in whatever country you are in because that's the date that it starts. Though, come to think of it, I remember a show I was following on a weekly release on Netflix last year would have episode become available at 4pm in my timezone, so maybe that's not the only way of doing it. But maybe Disney+ does the midnight thing.

That's weird. They're opening the voting for the rest of the world before the show even starts? Or do they mean you can vote before everyone has finished performing? If it's the latter, that could potentially privilege who ever performs in the first half.

I know from my grandparents how difficult witnessing that decline is, especiallly knowing there isn't anything you can do about it or make it better, except to try to help the person through difficult moments and not to aggravate them or remind them that they have difficulty remembering things or doing tasks they once could do more easily.

Yes, I hope you are all able to support each other through this and enjoy what time you still have. That's all you can do.

Thank you, both of you.
I don't know if I ever mentioned here that she had cancer, and unfortunately a form of cancer that keeps coming back and doesn't go into remission. She had been living with it for about 7 years, and her condition deteriorated very quickly in the last couple of months. I was glad to be there and be able to take care of her at the end, but it was also very difficult.
Best wishes to you, besley, when you are taking care of your parents.

Thanks. There's no real way around it, it just sucks. At first I just felt sad all the time, but now I don't feel sad all the time anymore. It doesn't completely go away, though, and sometimes I have emotional moments.

That's too bad. I hope he's hanging in there.
I didn't share this on the forum before because I wasn't ready, but I went through that a few months ago. It was one of the most terrible things I have ever experienced.

Hahaha!

But yes, I've noticed every so often the spam posts with weird links comes in waves. Unfortunate, but I guess just something to deal with and put up with.

I had a feeling that might have been the case. Sorry if I sounded accusatory before, it was not my intention. I was just momentarily confused.

Did you perhaps reply to the wrong thread? Or was there a spam post before yours that got deleted?

You've been keeping up with a lot!
There's even more returning acts that I realized. I'd be curious to see what Konstrakta's performance is like for her new song once that selection competition happens.

I think I'm still behind on listening to the entries that have been released so far, but I did listen to Latvia and Finland's a few days ago.
Latvia seems heartfelt and I liked the theme, but I'm not sure how well it will stand out.
Finland... I'm having mixed feelings about it. On the one hand, I like for there to be weird entries, because the weird songs are something in Eurovision that you don't really get anywhere else. That said, while "No Rules" made me laugh, it also made me a little uncomfortable. It kind of reminded me of some of the ridiculous and terrible acts you would see on America's Got Talent, back when I used to watch that show, that would get all four buzzers within a minute (or less) of beginning their performance.

That would be fun to recognize so many things from your youth in the movie! I know I've seen in a few movies over the years different objects that we have owned ourselves, but never that much in one movie.

I can imagine hearing the music from another movie changing how you felt about that scene in Lady Chatterly's Lover, even if it was unintentional. Haha. I must admit I've heard rumbling from other movies once or twice in the multiplex as well, but never anything that distinctive.

That's funny, besley. Most people I have discussed Saltburn with me didn't like the director's previous film (Promising Young Woman), but I did, so I don't know what to think, whether I'm interested in it or not. I don't have Prime Video at the moment, so for now I'm waiting to see if a DVD or Blu-ray release happens so that I can get it from the library.

I have been meaning to see All of Us Strangers, but it's not playing in any theatre near me at the moment, so it would require a trip to the city. Which is fine, my dad and I have done that a few times before, but it requires some planning. One of my friends who saw it saw it in a multiplex that did not have very good soundproofing and he said during a very quiet moment he could hear a song from Wonka in the next room, which wasn't great and caused him to laugh even though it was inappropriate. So I hope if I see it in the theatre that I will have better luck. I know it's kind of sad, but I've heard good things. I like sad sometimes.
