I've changed the address of the  blog, now it's the good one.
Sorry again.

Excellent idea, this thread!
- One of my cats purring on my lap makes me feel happy. I call that "cattherapy".
- Sunrise or sunset on hills; I can see it from my window and admire it everyday.
- Being successful with the level XXX of a game. A little achievement, useless maybe, but an achievement, though. And any achievement in general -better if useful.
- Watching a good serie and being hooked.
- Apart that: my family, friends, job, wage... Holidays when possible.

I agree with Teaclub, I find Mum & Dad not really in the right place in the serie. Sort of oddity to see a normal family life. Math genius or no (a researcher who had to choose between research and children?!), it doesn't fit in the picture.

However, all explanations are useful: Mycroft isolated and defiant because of his IQ, and influencing his brother.
And maybe later a broken heart who refuses to get involved again.
Both scared by feelings.
I will think about it...

I know nothing about therapy, but I would say that someone who is unable to love didn't receive enough love in his (her) childhood. But Mum & Dad seem good parents, loving parents, quite normal -much too normal, actually, when you see their offsprings

So what could explain Sherlock and Mycroft's despise for love and defiance for others?

Of course, Sherlock is able to care. He does care much for John, his brother, Mrs Hudson, even Lestrade. If you agree to say that a strong friendship implies a certain form of love, he may be able to love.
Save for Sherlock, though, Mycroft is unable to care.
And both are kind of autists. Why, in your opinion?

After John, I would say Mycroft and Lestrade.

But... it itches my feminist cord, so let's say:
Mrs Hudson,
Molly,
Donovan,
Equally with the previous ones.

And let's add Anderson, too, he deserves it.

And, erm... I don't fancy so much Mary nor Sherlock (don't roar, please) characters. Like them, but not my favourite ones.

Hi,

Nice to meet you here, after having seen  you site (thanks to a post on this forum, actually). I confirm that transcription are especially useful for non-native speakers.
Beside, I'm relieved to see that I'm not the only one "old" (over 40) fan of Sherlock. It seems to be interesting for several generations, a sign of quality.
See you soon on the forum,

Waouh! A retranscription of the whole text of each episode? I'm not fan enough to do that, but I appreciate!
Thanks for this link, I'll explore more.

Oh yes, his Hamlet was very good! Very emotional. If you're interested in watching it -or just a part of it ("to be or not to be soliloquy) as you're not a fan of Hamlet- you can do so on Youtube.
While not being obligatory, playing Hamlet will certainly crown an already talented actor's career -and we can be sure that Ben's performance is just very, very good.

Thanks!! I looked at him. Not bad, that guy, too (Tennant). Look forward seeing official videos of BC, and meanwhile, there are plenty of photos and articles, and this thread

I still can't get over that "killer smile". It gets more and more creepy the more I look at it, and it's ages and aeons away from Martin's usual smile.

That's why I can pretend that I like him because he is an excellent actor. That's the official explanation.
Reading many posts here, I confess it's -also- because he's just so cute!!

Don't know if anyone saw "Wild target", where he is a killer. I love his "natural" smile and the elegant suit.

I've read that David Tennant had made a very honourable Hamlet too. It seems to be a kind of obligatory step for an actor to prove his talent on stage and start playing in the big league.
Not a fan of Hamlet, I'm afraid, but no doubt Cumberbatch makes a good prince.

Nothing original, but my favourite pic is used for my avatar: cross-reference Bilbo and The Office.

For those who understand French, there is blog, which became a short TV program, dedicated to ranting and very bad days.
It is called "VDM" (vie de m... or s... life)

When you read all anecdotes about what happened to others, well, all things considered, your day wasn't that bad...

What I still love a lot is the greyness in all the characters, even when they do horrible things you can kind of understand how they ended up there. I find that much more intriguing than the classic black and white, good and evil thing.

Yes, that's the key point of the story, no doubt.

I agree with you about death being usually avoided in stories for main characters, and that's why I was ok at first with so many unexpected deaths. But Catherine, and now (announced for the 6th tome) John being resurrected, that's just ridiculous. You're right, the serie didn't do that mistake for Catherine up to now. Will John die definitely?

"Fargo" serie is based on the movie made by the Coen brothers -based itself on a true story.
In a quiet town of Minnesota, a serie of murders is committed within a few days.
M. Freeman plays an everyman man who is indirectly responsible for the first murder, and seizes an opportunity to kill his wife. But he let the wolf in the sheephold -the killer, soon joined by other killers- and the situation slips completely out of control.

Very good show in my opinion. Enjoy

Three excellent news here:

1. Same rights for everyone, of course.
2. USA shows it can be open-minded too.
3. It proves that members of the High Court are not only old conservative greybeards

And yes:

Hi,

In that case I prefer books to the serie. More complex, more subtle characters... The serie did it best to give the atmosphere of the kingdom, that part is not so bad, but I can't say I was hooked by the scenario nor convinced by the casting -except P. Dinklage and C. Dance, both very good.

I read book sceptically, and found it immediately addictive. G. Martin used to write scenarios for TV shows and films, he knows how to keep the attention of the reader at a high level, permanently.
I've been tired by the number of deads and, more than that, by the resurrections (Catherine Stark, seriously?) but it's still a wonderful book to read.
