Average height for men, by country:

6 ft is generally above average.  I'm just a hair above average for the U.S.  (5'10.5")

Must be nice for the writers to have all the tidbits out there from which to draw an interesting amalgam.

So, if it was spur of the moment, what is there to explain?

Yes, it keeps the forum buzzing if they don't say.  But, I dont' think we've heard the last of what was behind he ending of 3.3.

Or so they would have us think.  He asked John to bring his gun.  Lord Smallwood committed suicide.  Lady Smallwood was deciding Sherlock's fate.  Etc, etc.

We don't know for sure, and they've not enlightened us yet on how he survived the fall either.

Yes, I was including that, as to things that haven't been revealed to us yet our who's fooling us or whomever else in the show.

Still don't know if that "foolhardy" thang was actually planned by all involved (govt, etc).

Just got through reading it.  Interesting break in the middle.  For those who haven't read it, Joe Bob  says check it out!

1.  Is Mycroft coming around though?  Episode 3.3 Mycroft says "Losing you would break my heart, Sherlock" paraphrasing.  Is it rubbing off?

To me, Moriarity's body type was all wrong.  He just didn't menace physically.  Supposedly he did mentally, which is one of the points, but, seemed there should have been more physicality at play too.   The pathology coming off of him didn't quite work as a result.  But maybe they were trying to keep the focus on the mental part.

Probably not the right thread to express this (Assuming Johnlock refers to a homoerotic involvement between the two), but, in rewatching the whole series, I'm picking up on the consistency of the warning from Mycroft regarding "Don't get involved".  Then the Redbeard thing, etc.

I'm assuming at some point there is going to be an episode where the emotional ties are going to override Sherlock's cognitive skills and he makes a huge mistake, perhaps losing someone because of it.  We might see an inkling of that with episode 3.3, but, that remains to be seen as more is revealed to us about what other things were going on and who was being fooled.  Or, perhaps Sherlock will sacrifice himself in some unnecessary way, either through guilt or impaired judgment.

It is in the first Holmes story, "Scandal in Bohemia", where they first meet.  I haven't read further yet.  Ok, reading "A Study in Scarlet" right now, but don't remember it being mentioned in there yet.

Maybe because in the books, Watson says he's over 6 feet, and BC is "only" 6 foot.

The question is, why do they keep commenting on it in the show?

in real life, seems to be 5.5" difference in height between Cumberbatch and Freeman.  5'6.5" vs 6'.

Continual, ok, well, I remember two times, but maybe more, where they keep saying Sherlock looks taller in the photos.  He first says having a shorter friend helps.

I wonder if they try to emphasize a height difference at times, with Sherlock wearing heels or standing on a riser, but at other times they can't carry off the illusion because of placement of people in the scene, and they then make that reference.

It felt so detached from the rest of the series, except to maybe do character development, and make gay references.

Character development, as in, Sherlock is willing to experiment on his "friends" in a most nasty way, and he acknowledges to John that he is his friend.

Otherwise, there seems to be no connectivity to the rest of things.

In SIB, at about 50 minutes in, is he playing the theme music to "The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes" on the violin?  I can't find an online version of the Brett series to check.
