I know when I've done escape rooms, they seem to be tailored to the group, so I don't think they would let people just get stuck with it.  It would be a really boring session!   If you're struggling, you get more hints - maybe not enough to "win", but enough to keep the session going and make it more fun.

Personally, I'm quite hit and miss with working things out, so needed the hints!

I've only done one...don't really remember us getting any hints...but then maybe I've blocked that. Actually possibly yes, maybe there is a phone to a staff member...I may vaguely remember.

True. But while sitting comfortably in front of my computer.

Here is something curious. Please look at this link:

https://www.buzzfeed.com/scottybryan/sherlock-escape-the-room-london?utm_term=.urjmNObbgL#.yc8Y4wllQ0

You get an article with several pictures and one of those shows John, Sherlock, and Mycroft plus the smiley, right?

However, if you post the link for example on Tumblr and get a preview, you will see the same picture but of Jim, Sherlock, Mycroft and the smiley. Same goes for Facebook. You can try it out for yourself. Interesting.

Btw, there are more differences between the two pictures. The one with Moriarty also includes parts of 221b, the skull, drawings, numbers … I wonder if this is part of the mystery.

I only now realised that the whole of TFP is a sort of escape room …

Exactly!  Me too!  I don't imagine we'd be in a bare cell, of course, but some sort of theming around TFP would be fantastic - it does seem an obvious choice!

Meanwhile, they are posting riddles on their social media accounts. It’s a contest open to everyone, and you can win some Sherlock goodies.

Decision made: not going!
It has honestly been like herding cats...
But it looks like it just isn't going to happen for me.
Anybody else got or getting tickets?
Anyhow, at least I'm off to London next week and will attend my usual Sherlock Holmes society meeting.

On 9 March my son and I went to the escape room and had lots of fun. It is lovingly made, with great actors taking the part of the "opticians" who introduce you to the game. Btw they are all called Stamford. Without giving away too much:

There is the opticians shop, the 221b living room where everyone is photographed as a souvenir, three rooms where you have to do lots of tricky deductions, apply logic, and work as a team. And in the end you are given an oral and written evaluation by Stamford and Sherlock which you can take home with you. At last you get into the Mind Palace bar which has lovely details from the show and nice drinks.

I can definitely recommend doing this for anyone who is in London and willing and/or able to pay the price.

P.S. For the Andrew fans - there is quite a lot of him.
