True, but then I'm not convinced he had PTSD in the first place!

Might be because he's an actor and not a war veteran, psychiatrist or reader of the Andy-McNab-Blog (https://www.greymansland.com/andy-mcnab/talking-2-minds-bob-paxman-talks-to-grey-mans-land-beating-the-enemy-called-ptsd/)? From what I've read, pretty much everybody who took part in recent conflicts is affected - it's just a topic that's not very much discussed, especially in the UK. Till some veteran shoots his girlfriend (see Andy McNab's Seven Troop -new edition).

And for me John's behaviour through all four seasons corresponds very well to the "aggressive exterior" with a "gentler human being underneath, struggling to get out" mentioned by Paxman (in the link above). The alternative would be that John Watson is simply an arsehole...
