It's about an East German border guard who is recruited to go undercover as a West German soldier to get intelligence for the East. It was only 8 episodes but I thought it was very interesting and exciting to see what the political situation was like in 1983 in Germany. I learned more about what was going on at that time than I remembered learning before. Obviously it's a fictional story, but there's a fair bit of archival footage via characters watching televised news reports.
Interestingly, this show was more popular outside Germany than in Germany (where it was made), but I have read that next year there will be a second series that takes place three years later: Deutschland 86.
