How wonderful! Congrats to them! I hope Ben gets a breather and some time with his family.

Glad you linked to The Mirror at least and not The Daily Fail!
Nobody has commented on 'Auden', I'm assuming after the poet...I am delighted.
I was shocked that Benedict and Tom only met at War Horse...I assumed they'd been friends for yonks!
I selfishly hope they go for a trio...but wonder if they will stop at two,

Such wonderful news! And hats off for keeping it at least out of the news for three weeks. Well-considered names and Hal and Kit sound great together.

I bet those two get up to some mischief when they are older, at least if they are like their dad...apparently he was a nightmare!

I love the Auden bit.
I confess I prefer 'Harry' to 'Hal'.
But once again, a very traditional English name.

Aw that's nice news, and it did bring a smile to my face that they had peace for the first 3 weeks at least. Well done.

I always liked Auden for some reason

He's one of my favourite poets!

I've just realised Hal's initials could be an acronym for 'Hunter and Cumberbatch'!

Auden made me think of the poet, also. "About suffering they were never wrong, / The old Masters..." I swear that poem and the painting it describes have been haunting me for a year.  It just keeps coming up in things.

I am sure the acronym is a coincidence, but that's interesting.

Clueing for looks.

Well that was his hope, though he seems to be busier and busier...maybe he hopes to film more within the UK, at least.

Perhaps with two kids he won't be going as far away from his family has often.  And if not, I hope that everyone in the family can still be happy.

Breugel's Icarus.  I'm sure you've seen it before.  It's shown in at least two films.  Nobody else in the painting notices that Icarus has fallen. http://www.artchive.com/artchive/b/bruegel/icarus.jpg

Oh yes, so I see!
I'm so shallow, I liked the 'Atlantis' version of the love story between Icarus and Pythagoras!

Beautiful news! Congratulations to the happy parents!

-----------------------------------

I cannot live without brainwork. What else is there to live for? Stand at the window there. Was there ever such a dreary, dismal, unprofitable world? See how the yellow fog swirls down the street and drifts across the dun-coloured houses. What could be more hopelessly prosaic and material? What is the use of having powers, Doctor, when one has no field upon which to exert them?

Here is a link to People magazine, confirming the news and also that Sophie has officially changed her name to Cumberbatch:

I think everyone has to decide for themselves. I have a hyphenated surname, combining my birth name and my husband's name, which is quite common in Germany. Hunter-Cumberbatch would have been quite a monster of a name.

It would have been great.
I applaud your decision Susi, it happens here.
I took my husband's 'Smith', because I wanted us to be The Smiths!(Our fave band!).
Then again, I should point out that I didn't want to get married at all- that was his idea.
