Conversations with Smaug--or, rather, with Benedict Cumberbatch! =)

Thanks for sharing!

-----------------------------------

I cannot live without brainwork. What else is there to live for? Stand at the window there. Was there ever such a dreary, dismal, unprofitable world? See how the yellow fog swirls down the street and drifts across the dun-coloured houses. What could be more hopelessly prosaic and material? What is the use of having powers, Doctor, when one has no field upon which to exert them?

You're welcome!  I thought you'd all get a kick out of that video. =)

And speaking of videos, here's another one!

I haven't seen that one about recording the speech backwards. It reminds me of times when I have goofed around with my computer and my microphone to see if I could say things backwards well enough that it sounded right when I reversed it to play forwards.

Clueing for looks.

Clever though Benedict is...
Not as impressive as Chris Martin having to sing backwards the entire lyrics of whichever Coldplay song it is, where they recorded the video backwards.

What are you referring to?  Is that a scene in a movie or a TV show?

It's impressive enough, I'd say.  It's difficult enough to speak or sing backwards in English--forget trying to do it backwards in a foreign language!

I've never seen it.  Is it a British TV show?

No, they are a rock band and it was for one of their dvds!

Oh, I see.  I've never heard of them.  A British rock band, I take it?

Oh yes and extremely famous...I thought internationally.
But obviously not!

Well, there's a lot of singers and bands I've never heard of.  Especially the ones from other countries.

With that said, Benedict did a remarkable job of portraying the dragon, Smaug.
