That was wonderful. Some of the questions and his answers made me just want to hug him.

Amazing amount of security escorting him out at the end... Considering it was an audience of kids

Felt the same. I was really impressed by the way he did the whole thing.
For the security... well the kids were teenagers and older. Always possible that there were crazy fans around.

Not exactly a press appearance but press news.

People of Edinburgh beware! Martin will be near you very soon - as he will attend a local film festival:

I cannot live without brainwork. What else is there to live for? Stand at the window there. Was there ever such a dreary, dismal, unprofitable world? See how the yellow fog swirls down the street and drifts across the dun-coloured houses. What could be more hopelessly prosaic and material? What is the use of having powers, Doctor, when one has no field upon which to exert them?

I know Benedict does The Thing, but I didn't realise Martin does it as well!

there's some drama over at tumblr about something Martin said in that interview above.
About this:

The 44-year-old actor, fresh from Puerto Rico, where he has been filming Start Up, a new online show for Sony’s Crackle, admits clothes are his vice. “And accoutrements generally.  I was always into it and, as I’ve got older, it’s got worse.  I know there are more important things in the world.  Outside of my normal life, aside from the music, it’s where most of my energy goes.  I’m not very proud of that.  Some people’s energy goes on saving Syrian refugees.  Mine goes on shoes.”

Some of the people think it's about BC and he's throwing shade at Ben. Other people defend him and say that Martin just wanted to say that Ben is the better person of the two. And then there are people (like me) who think he wasn't talking at all about Ben. Just in general people who are socially-engaged.

Some examples:

Oh Lord!!!

People are reading too much into this, IMHO. Martin and Benedict have different careers and they really don´t spend time thinking about each other every moment or making veiled comments about each other, I think.

Also you can choose any part of the abovementioned quote and interpret it on the piece chosen from the whole of it. For example I emphasised the parts which would indicate that Martin is aware about his hobby not being very lofty, not pursuing any higher goal... and when these parts are emphasised, it really doesn´t seem to have anything in common with Syrian refugees, Benedict´s charity work or anything like that.

It sounds self-deprecating to me, like he's saying that being interested in fashion is shallow compared to helping Syrian refugees. He says he's not very proud of it. As if anyone would say that spending your energy on shoes makes you a better person.

Exactly, I don't think he was speaking about Ben at all. Syrian refugees are a big topic at the moment, it was just an example.

It seems to me like creating a drama, where is none. Some people apparently don't have better things to do (like buying shoes or helping other people). Idiots!

A lot of people just enjoy getting their knickers in a twist.

Great article.  And photos.  That cover shot!  *thud*   I love Martin's style.

Really, do people not know Martin at all?
He's having a laugh.
Not having a go at anybody...

Some people simply tend to make too much of any and everything.
To me it also sounds rather self-deprecating, taking the mickey out of himself in other words. Whenever I read one of his longer interviews I'm always stunned by how mature and clever he sounds, e.g. I really enjoyed reading the "Rake" interview with him, and I ended up feeling a tad stupid afterwards.
I guess some people think he and Benedict either love or hate each other, the idea that they might simply be having an amicable working relationship never seems to cross their minds.
