I would love to join, but I've read so many good ones and there surely were even more wonderful quotes, but right now I don't remember a single one.

I always liked this one from "Revisionist" by Saki101:

Sherlock slotted the test tube into a rack and teased, “I didn’t know you admired my coordination so much.” He lowered the flame under a crucible.

I've tried to find a good quote in that one to post here, and ended up stopping at every second sentence, thinking, "No, THAT one is the best quote so far ..." I finally settled for that one, because it is from the last paragraph I've read:

Another one from "Against the Rest of the World" by SilentAuror, just because it just brought tears to my eyes...

John keeps his eyes on mine for a long moment, searching them, his gaze going from eye to eye. “Then I’ve made my decision,” he says finally, his jaw tense, face full of intensity. “If we get out of this – I’m yours, Sherlock. If you’re completely sure you want me.”
(Am not sure what instinct motivates this, but I obey it anyway.) Slide to my knees on the floor in front of him. (The moment of absolute truth, merciless and naked.) “I’ll always want you.” My voice is hoarse. “Always, John. Nothing could ever change that.” I wrap my long arms around his thighs and press my face into his hip so that he can’t see it. “Don’t leave me, John. I’ll die if you leave me. I’ll shrivel and become – nothing. I’m nothing without you. Don’t leave me. Please.”

This is a hopelessly romantic one from "Let the Sun Fade Out" by nothingislittle:

John lays next to him, sprawled on his back, arms splayed above his head, bathed in the sunlight, emanating warmth. He could warm the sun itself, Sherlock thinks, could heat their flat with just his presence, could brighten the room with one dazzling smile or just the sparkling in his eyes. Everything hurts when John looks this beautiful, but it’s a dulcet, aching pain, one that consumes Sherlock from the inside, that sends soft pangs through his abdomen and lodges a lump solidly in his throat. John glows, he glitters, he’s light itself, Sherlock thinks, and doesn’t even bother to scold himself for exaggerating, because he’s not, he’s not, John is everything, he’s beautiful and he shines, he’s everything.
