And have you all been listening to one of his favourite songs at the moment he mentioned during one of his panels...? Beware, it'll kill you...

Solar thank you so much for posting this.
I've always loved Elbow and this song is incredible, one of their best.

I can imagine Benedict listening to this while watching the world go by through an open window. He's very much into his lyrics, I think it gives an insight into the man he is. Most blokes aren't that "in tune" with the real meaning behind songs. But he is.

Feeling all reflective now!

That's so true about Men and lyrics!
I'm always raving on about the beautiful lyrics in particular songs to my Boyfriend, but he barely hears the lyrics.
Give him a good drum beat or guitar riff though and he's away!
Benedict, you need to be in my life!!!

This song truly is incredible, I think I've been listening to it again and again for the last 45 minutes. The lyrics, the music, the atmosphere it evokes... it's perfection - just like Mister Cumberbatch.

Solar - how much Elbow do you know? If you go on YouTube you will find a BBC love from Abbey Road performance of their album Seldom Seen Kid.

The version of Mirrorball on that makes me cry every time.

They are masters of their craft. And Guy Garvey is one of the great poets of modern times.

Oh Solar, honestly they are magnificent band.

Songs I recommend are Mirrorball, Weather to Fly, The Bones of You, fugitive motel (Amazing!), New York Morning, Lippy Kids, Open Arms....

And that's not even counting One Day Like this!

Probably a stupid thing to say, but I don't care if Benedict describes himself as a "rude a•hole" - his musical taste says he has a beautiful soul!
(And I know that makes me sound like a silly fangirl, but I don't care! )

Well he has said he contradicts himself all the time.
I do think it's just the Sherlock in him:
He's just honest and says what he thinks...I like that.

This lyric

Oh long before you and I were born
Others beat these benches with their empty cups
To the night and its stars
To be here and now and who we are
.Another sunrise with my sad captains
With who I choose to lose my mind
And if it’s so we only pass this way but once
What a perfect waste of time

In tears now.
