Somewhere between sad and funny today. Drowning seems inappropriate; swimming against the tide is too much work; diving...
I am somewhat exhausted; I wonder how a battery feels when it pours electricity into a non-conductor.

Floating or drifting for a while until it's easier?

Thank you for your lovely comments. I like the quote you chose for your signature, btw.

Son. Operation. Both shoulders. State of the art slings. 4 weeks! That is all.

Uh oh, what happened to him?

I am having an arse of a day.
1) I was meant to be filming for something at the end of this week. The availability (or lack thereof) of the other actors has now pushed this back to late October. This is messing with my calendar in unimaginable ways.
2) Discovered someone I know and love is being tested for leukaemia this week. I honestly don't know what to do for the best.
3) And in (far less important) news I lost a bracelet. A black leather one with a button clasp... not expensive but sentimental value always gets to me. I've had to contact someone to make me another one (so far, so good on that front though.)

Sorry to hear that. Some days just suck. I hope everything turns out well, especially 2). A friend of mine was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. You may offer your help whenever it is needed but you also have to accept if the person prefers a certain distance for the time being. Just show him/her that you are there.

What a collection of unpleasant, annoying and even horrible things, Mnemosyne!
You're right - an arse of a day.

Thanks guys, your support means a lot to me

That really sucks. I hope things get better for you

Aww! Mnemosyne. What a rubbish day!
As for my son...he tore some ligament/tendon thingy in his armpits last year whilst playing rugby. Mirror image injury but done in different matches. Spent a year trying to rehab them but has had to have them posted on. The specialist said this type of injury never heals on its own so surgery was the only option.
A week down the line and he's now only on mild painkillers, paracetamol, and is getting quite adept at using his feet! It is all rather wearing though. You can probably imagine some of the difficulties. Having a shower takes ages!

Aw, that sucks, you guys.... sending some well wishes!

Sorry to hear about your son Davina, you're both doing so well *hugs*
I just wanted to update my list of 'woes':
1) Good thing my filming was pushed back, I've come down with tonsilitis and sinusitis (hurty, hurty head.) So I can rest easy knowing my job isn't going to be affected my how manky my mush is.
2) Loved one's blood tests came back fine (*huge* relief.) Issues may actually be related to exposure to mercury (via ancient dentistry) and that can be easily fixed.
3) Getting replacement bracelet shipped to me by the end of the week.

Glad to hear that, Mnemosyne - especially 2) !
Davina - all the best to your son.

Broadband and my telephone crashed on Wednesday for hours and had a blip again yesterday! What an irritation, especially as my new business depends on Internet connection!

I didn't get much sleep last night.
I am a US Federal employee sitting here at home for the second day with no pay. The cranky old men in congress are saying this could go on for weeks, and to say that weeks of furlough would be disastrous for my family is putting it quite mildly.
I'm starting to care less and less about right and wrong. The men in suits are not the ones who will suffer because of this but it has the potential to cause serious damage to working class families like mine. Feeling so very helpless. Trying not to panic.”

That's pretty awful, Tonnaree... I hope this situation of yours will change for the better very soon.
