Punch me, those pics from the Hollywood Reporter are terrific! I think I need to go to our press agent at our main train station, they have got international press, as well. (PM me, if you're interested and can't find it anywhere near you )

If he decides to do it (in case he is offered the job) there would always be the risk of constantly being identified with Bond. "Sherlock" is big already and people identify him with this role but it is known for an intelligent skript and good acting. I am not quite sure whether that can be said about Bond. It is just an action movie. Nothing bad about that, but the danger is much bigger to get into stereotype casting. Seeing it from the perspective of an actor you would probably do it in spite of all that because you see it as a chance, a challange and you would think that you are able to get rid of a Bond-image. Not sure if that is true though.
Yeah, well, I think he's too young for the Bond character at the moment. 10 years from now, when he's the right age, he might be at a very different spot in his career, with altogether different reasons for taking certain roles and rejecting others. Presumably Sherlock will be well in the past by then (although who knows, of course). All actors move on, once they make a name for themselves. Many would have said that the Khan role in the recent Star Trek movie wasn't a good move for his career, but in retrospect, we can certainly see that it garnered him a lot of international notice-- even though it was "just an action movie." Even People magazine here in the States seems to know his face and name now.... they never seemed to, before ST. And so it would go with Bond-- an international audience and loads of press attention, at the very least.
But anyway, I just started this Bond thing because I think physically he'd be absolutely perfect for the role, especially once he gets a bit more age and character in his face.

*faints dead away at this picture in the thick sweater*
*revives enough to goggle at the A-List headline on that magazine cover in the other pic. A-List! Hurrah!
*faints dead away again*

Ohhhh...that picture on the cover of The Hollywood Reporter plus a rather intense Johnlock fanfic I'm reading at the moment must have inspired a dream I had last night (yeah, this really belongs on the "Have you had any dreams" thread - but the pictures are here). Anyway, the setting in the dream was something similar to the background of the Hollywood pictures. It was a classy, leather and wood paneled bar. Sherlock and John (not Ben and Martin) are drinking scotch at the bar both dressed beautifully in suits and ties, looking amazing. Somehow I'm friends with them and I'm bringing someone who needs their help to meet them. When we walk into the bar John has his head against Sherlock's shoulder and when they stand up to talk to us, Sherlock has his arm around John's shoulder and John's arm is around his waist. OMG! My very own Johnlock dream. Never expected it.

Congrats, KP, that sounds lovely. Has this fanfic already been recommended? If not, send me a PM. Maybe it is one I don't know yet.

I found this on Facebook and I can't stop laughing!!

I love those Hollywood reporter pics, too.
But I have to confess I had to laugh a bit about some of the poses. They are gorgeous and at the same time somehow so not-Ben! Can't explain properly.....

...more character in his face...? Gosh, he already has so much character in his face, IMO.
KP, I'd also be interested in the fan fic you're reading right now...

I'm reading 'Graveyard Poppy' by AlphaTango. Tobe recommended to me. It might already be on the master-list - not sure. In parts it could use some editing but in many places it's quite brilliant.

Glad you like it, KP!

I don't remember exactly what it was (too much, it's all too much.... ), but I remember that I liked it, too.

Simple, he was acting. It's what he does. Might be a character we're not (yet) familiar with, but I 100% think he's acting in those posed publicity things. He must look at the time with the photographers as just another acting gig, where he gets dressed up and made up and hair just so and is asked to strike poses this way and that, with and without props. I'm just guessing, no way of knowing, but he sure looks as though he's playing a part there.

He doesn't have middle-aged type of character in his face. As life goes, he's still a babe.
Am I the only one here on my particular wavelength about the Bond thing? I need to shut up about this now, apparently.
