I've passed up the sex olympics a couple of times. Didn't care for the title and didn't like the idea of John and Sherlock having sex with other people. After hearing you guys rave about it I finally gave it a try.
Oh MY.
This author gives good smut. Swear I actually got light headed a couple of times!
But it really wasn't just PWP. There was plenty of emotion to be had and her characterizations rang true for me.
*thumbs up*
Although I really need to stop reading things like that on my break at work. Makes it very hard to concentrate for the rest of the afternoon.
Exactly! I'm not really into PWP either, and went into reading the Great Sex Olympics of 221b with skepticism, but found it to have some surprisingly wonderful emotional character development. And also surprisingly, both John and Sherlock felt fairly in character for me. I do much prefer stories that if they happen to have a lot of sex to also have some strong character relationship emotional stuff too

The last scene had me in tears.

I was skeptical at first too, but I ended up reading it all the way through and it turned out to be much better than I thought it would. It's worth giving a shot, see what you think!

I'm trying to find fics on FFnet now as I seem to have exhausted AO3!!! FFnet is less search friendly though.
Here's one I just read and I enjoyed it quite a lot. It's not Johnlock or slash but I'm putting it here anyway because I still think you guys will enjoy it
In Between -
In between Sherlock's death and return, John found himself In Between. Death and life, worthlessness and purpose, weakness and strength. With the help of friends, both old and new, John learns how at least cope with the loss of his best friend. He learns how to live again and discovers new things to keep him going, even if it's not the same anymore.
The story is quite original to begin with and ends with a revised Empty House-like plot. It's a bit grief/angsty so - fair warning there. Anyway, I liked it.

There is one I read not long ago called "The Great Sex Olympics of 221B", I'm sure you can guess from the title what it's about...may not be for everyone, understandable, and though there is (as the title suggests) a lot of sex in it, the reasoning behind it, how it's written (funny, dramatic as well as...intimate) and the story itself is actually interesting...kinda draws you in *coughs* , heh . I ended up enjoying it more than I thought I would.
Anyway, here's the link;
Finally got around to reading this and couldn't really stop once I'd started. Thanks, Silver, for recommending this, I had a great time reading it, it was hot and fun and quite dramatic at times and... did I mention hot? Of course the last chapter was just... wow, really, ehm, let's say: hot.

Hehe, you're welcome! It is awesome isn't it? Yes, quite hot indeed, also emotional and meaningful too, with a funny and interesting story, it's the combo of all those things that I love about it . I just found it when browsing fanfiction.net one day, and eventually I gave it a read.

I have a couple recs, one is a Kid!Sherlock and Kid!John fan fic. Admittedly not something I read often, but I quite enjoyed this one...so adorable, much d'awwing and smiles on my end when reading .
"To be so young and in love" ~
It's novel length and completed, there is a sequel that is currently a regularly updated WIP.
And then there's this one...an AU in which after being sent back home from Afghanistan (before meeting Sherlock) John gets persuaded to be on the show "The Bachelor". I kind of avoided reading that one for a little while, both because I don't like that kind of reality TV show at all and because...well, I guess that was pretty much the only reason . Anyway, I gave it a chance and much to my surprise...I ended up enjoying it immensely!
^ This one is also novel length (I know it doesn't officially say completed at the top, but rest assured it is, I guess the author just forgot to say so), and it was well worth the read for me

Yes, it's awesome! I especially liked (apart from it being, uhm, hot...) how our boys slowly but surely become aware of their feelings for each other - and how they finally allow themselves those feelings. Writing this from Sherlock's and John's point of view at times also worked really nice. I might read this again eventually...

I would like to second the reccomendation of Ten Days by Engazed.
It was excellent but do pay attention to the warnings. It was BRUTAL.
This is a lovely little fic I found today. Made my heart ache.

" Because jumping before a bus is less dangerous than kissing John on the mouth, and because this is the story of a kiss that doesn’t happen."
Thanks for recommending that one. It is quite different, I enjoyed it a lot.

I recently finished reading a The Hobbit/BBC Sherlock AU...and wow, I LOVED it! When I came across it, I wasn't sure, but I love both universes dearly so I gave it a try...and I was not disappointed! I loved the way the story was put together, and many other things...

Not sure if this will interest you avid Johnlock fans (of which I count myself there, too!) but this woke me out of a dead sleep at Five AM today and I had to get it out. Make of it what you will, it's short.

*just finished reading* It was lovely! Draws you in, nice to see prose like that...
I love this little section here;
"There is now a quirk to that mouth that can be so full of knives or taste of caramel so sweet in the rain. Those blades of honesty that we all fight against; some still do. I stopped fighting long before what I believed was the end. Most people cannot face their own demons when seeing their reflections in the wide, sharp, silver blades. Like the blade Lady Justice carries at her side."
*sigh* Meaningful and romantic

Oh that was beautiful sweetness.
Random note though - you keep switching between referring to Sherlock as "he/him/his" to "you/your". Not sure if that's intentional or if it needs a consistency edit ;-)

I loved it. Sweet and romantic, and you do well setting the scene, allowing the reader to see, smell, hear everything going on, something not all authors excel at, to say the least. The only thing I spotted that was odd was how you don't use contractions-- was that a conscious style choice? Because it reads kinda awkwardly because of it. But other than that, I thought it was well done and a nice, pleasant read. Thanks for sharing!
